  1. About mod "classifications" in downloads section, er?, don't believe everything you read, m8?
  2. @thales: How are you considering YotM as an expansion pack? It's not different than Frostbite in terms of offerings (except it lacks the intro/outro movies). Aren't "conversions" mods that give new player soldiers, weapons, kits, opforce, maps (sometimes retextures) & storyline/campaign/mission(s) + hud/splashes? The ground-breaking mods like Alpha Squad's or Harntrox's -- esp. w/new assets/features to manipulate + those excellent new randomized gtf(s) -- or DonMiguel's Platoon Extender mod, well, once they've been made, the feature exists/is usable, so these kinds of unique additions/changes cannot really be re-done/done twice, can they?
  3. Anybody (bravely) tried this 'repaired' link/install yet? Rocky? Tinker? (I'm interested for sure... but a coward, yup. )
  4. ^^ & I can see thales' Airstrike Tools mod coming in handy: blow up the train! (Joking deleyt...joking...stay calm m8!)
  5. ^^ Interesting post ^^ though somewhat inaccurate IMO esp. the idea that current mods are not of same quality as past / older mods. (FYI, YotM is a 2006 mod, so it's this year's vintage!) Is El_Davido confusing quality with quantity? Many newer mods contain brilliant missions & definitely tend to be far freer of bugs / glitches than past years' mods. Weapons have always been the same IMO: some folks make excellent models; others don't. Sounds, effects, voices are better now & also used better. incl. w/map tagging, etc. Skins (incl. vehicle skins+models ) are as a rule way way better now than they used to be & it's almost standard to manipulate the player soldiers so as to offer a nice variety incl. many different attachments & models. Opforce / enemy & NPCs are way better-looking & more varried. Storylines & esp. campaign missions have not gone down the toilet, far from it. They tend to be better-researched & are every bit as good as ever they were... & often more immersive because so many of the other game assets (mentioned) have been customized and/or are new. All in all, contemporary (TC)GR modders are more inclined to release Mods closer to "total conversion" than years ago. And maps... the mainstay... maps are certainly better, albeit there are only a few guys left mapping & these fellows are long-service chaps, e.g., sleeper & cobaka (who surely would agree that their skills / expertise have become even more polished over the years). That there are fewer players & modders overall & thus fewer mods released is unquestionably true though. Still, check out some of the new mods like MVD Osnaz, The Great Patriotic War, etc. (What's to improve?)
  6. @Variable13=> Your The Great Patriotic War is an amazing mod... Referring to it as a "nice" or "good" "first effort" is IMO understatement that is getting really close to being silly / absurd. Your "beta" was freer of bugs/glitches than many "final versions" of mods I've played! You've effectively made a Total Conversion, granted using WOI assets, but why remake the wheel? Anyhow, the WOI Team did great work. Your GTW briefings & missions design suggest strong knowledge of WW2 history & are well prepared; over the 14 missions we get to experience every type of gameplay; missions are robust & quite realistic. The loving care in selecting exactly the right maps is impressive & goes far towards immersion. Moreover your missions & placement of additional objects/assets replicate real WW2 battle tactics/strategy IMO. All these aspects plus your dedicated attention to the details / briefing pics / intro & outro movies etc. make your GTW Mod terrific! Thank you & congratulations.
  7. @Sup, I agree "modding like there was in (TC)GR doesn't exist outside of GR," though I'm not sure that "the Diesel engine is pretty easy to work with compared to..." An Editor must function to easily permit folks without C++ knowledge etc. to create mods expressly for missions IMO! Naturally such an Editor must handle all aspects of ai behaviours/scripting without the modder needing to know about what's coded in behind; all of the game's assets must be usable; moreover the editor must be practicable, functional & not require a PhD to learn. And no unnecessary messing around w/files outside of what the Editor handles itself! Sure (TC)GR's Igor has some weaknesses, but anyone can create a mission & learn to use Igor without having any prior programming (or mathematics) knowledge. Answer to ZJJ's Q: GRAW2 needs a proper / REAL Editor! (So does/did GRAW1 )
  8. funny thing is that one remains a long term unfinished problem child, not due to tech issues, just can't come to a close on deciding how to set up the objs I want.Don't give up; frequently the 'problem child' ends up really making the grade! Moreover, there aren't many missions on the Keep map. Great! Double great!! Thanks mig, for the update & all your modding work.
  9. Happy Birthday, Rocky! Wishing you a great day and happy returns for the year!
  10. You know it's true: those Italians will use anything to get the job done! Panzerfaust? @mig => Any updates re P2? Your mission on (FB) The Keep map looks especially good.
  11. Quit cheating. @WK=> ya caught me... :'> ...

    Sig Awards #29

    Rather disappointing, for sure...
  13. @ severity6 => (Shhhsh... otherwise he might tear it all apart & there'd go another 10 hours; what if he hasn't the strength to go thru that again? :jeswink: )
  14. Th nks Tinker for another mission!
  15. Good grief! And to think I nearly cried over having to do a simple task of installing a 2nd HD: cool that you have the expertise to do all this PC-rebuilding stuff. BTW, your pics are excellent! (Is it quieter? )
  16. Answer: Mod = Operation Snake Strike Mission = #5 - Counter Attack Author = Blakarion It's a great mission, very challenging; the mod (10 mission Campaign in Iraq) is the 1st mod in the Black Ops Trilogy--all are really good!
  17. Great news! Thanks deleyt & don't worry about your work being "perfect;" no matter, we're gonna' love it. (I'm hoping your girlfriend has a lot of shopping left to do?)
  18. @yannbarvss Hi & welcome to gr.net. Do you play GRAW/TCGR/both/none?
  19. My thoughts too... Poor guy (but it was rather a funny video)... he certainly wasn't a very good jumper!
  20. Good replies all... so, Tinker, you tryin' to be special? Why not join the other 100s of modders (who were not as thorough as thales100, though certainly I salute you thales! ) & simply included the chosen/desired music in their mods; no permissions, just credit(s)? AFAIK no modder has even been told off let alone anything more serious?
  21. Wow, Sunraa, you're fast! One would almost think you own that ghostaholic site... (Great site BTW.)
  22. Thanks 9MS guys Tinker & Stalker for new release 'Operation Fuel Dump.' I'm starting to believe in again... never too old!
  23. Did 'Monster Hunt' happen, or...?
  24. In a friendly way only I'm wondering how it's possible for talk of 911 to be "off-topic"? Er, no 911 = unlikely USA would have attacked sovereign nation Iraq = unlikley Saddam would have been toppled let alone captured = no trial = etc.
