I agree. When GRIN went on vacation or even when they were hanging out here on the forums because "their work was done" I don't think they were really hearing the people on this forum. Some of Bo's staff like Desmond and a few others looked and listened some but it was really up to Bo. I think they took our advice with a grain of salt and went and did their own thing. No matter what we say in the end they are going to do what they want. I agree with Rocky that it should have been a game type or an option to be chosen on a server before a game. Having the entire team get called back because of the team leader's death is absolute nonsense. And its very unrealistic. I have a feeling this was a leftover from the console version that ubi tried to push GRIN into using for the pc version. Thats my very strong suspicion. And Bo is really from a special forces unit? Forget special forces, any kind of military unit worth its salt that is trying to carry out a mission will do whatever they have to do to get the mission accomplis

Yes - you should get slightly better performance than my X800pro 256 AGP. And mine runs fairly well with forced AA on. I do get a long initial load time at the 'black screen' after the intro screens however (1 min or so) before the game main menu comes up. maybe this is demo specific? ← The video card you have does not meet the minimum requirements. It has to do with the shaders of that card. If you buy the card you mentioned, you would have no issues at all with the card side of things. This is what is confusing to me. The game is certainly not "next generation". The diesel engine they are using is obviously dated and shows its age. But yet it is highly customized including adding the HDR effects and whatnot. But besides the HDR I can't understand why its demanding so much from the hardware. Visually there are already titles out there that look way better and are using brand new engines but don't drag down modern rigs the way this demo is doing. Although the new nvidia drivers seem to have helped with the low framerates a bit. And, has anyone gotten the HDR effect

But I don't see the HDR effect in game at all. Its only the annoying orange everything color effect. Which I don't understand because my rig should be able to show the hdr.

Pro, if ya got an nvidia card make sure your running the latest drivers. I'm running 84.21 and that seemed to have cleared up alot of the slow framerates.

*SIGH* I wanted to write a very long and detailed post about my views of the demo. From the graphics to the gameplay to the feel of the game. But my mind is just a jumble right now. But I think I will save my full detailed and longggggggggg review until the final game comes out. And I will buy it.....for ol times sake. The short of it: Nice game but its not GR. Because I played the lost coast with both HDR and AA with my nvidia card. Ok, then it would seem that valve used a different method than what GRIN did? And if so, why couldn't GRIN do the same?

Nevermind. Someone just confirmed that while this works it also disables your nightvision and messes up your tactical map. So I guess we all will have to play it as is.

Ok now this is confusing. Didn't the HL2 HDR demo lost coast have both HDR and AA ??? Someone explain?

Yes, the sound is quite excellent mine good job! But tell ya buddies that they are going to have a lot of work when they get back to the office. Mature or not the reviews are in and their mixed. Not a bad game at all dude. But well....umm....there are alot of "buts" lets put it that way.

If you want less realism play GR? Dude, did you honestly think that thoroughly through before typing? GRAW is ok.....nothing more. It is only better.....ONLY better in the respect that its using technology that is more recent.......period. But it simply will not have the long lasting impact that GR did when it debuted. The game features had me all excited til I saw the $20.00 price. Plus the fact that no one heard of the game til recently and the full retail game is going to be sold less than a month from now. Major titles are usually like $50.00 bucks (unless the U.S. Army pays for it like America's Army) and people hear about it months in advance. But, fully destructible environments supporting 125 players online with non-linear and creative missions and objectives seems incredible.......on the surface anyway.

Has anyone heard of this game yet? Its supposed to arrive in the US sometime in May. Its supposed to be a hot title but yet its only selling for $20.00 so it can't be that great.....right?

I agree with your assessment DonMiguel. Thats why I gave them a 7 as well. Frankly, I was being generous. Note that I am going to buy this game. And like you I will enjoy the game as long as I think of it as "its not GR, its another game". But your right.....its not gr. And this title will not have the staying power of GR1. In a few months other titles will be coming out that will go way beyond this effort.......graw is a fine effort yes......but it doesn't have the legs. And I'm still absorbing more opinions before I give my official assessment.
