  1. I thought that the weapons we have right now were going to have more options to adjust. I would have liked to pick any scope I want for the weapon.

Basically I think the weapon selection screen as it is now is kinda clumsy.

It just a bunch of icons.

I would like the weapons seperated into weapon type. And I would like little click boxes to choose which attachments or whatever scope or sight I want on it. They are wasting space making a full gun icon for each and every option they have for them.

And where is the scroll button?

I really thought they were going to copy the GR1 gun and skin selection screen and upgrade it.

There isn't much room for improvement as it is now unless they make some drastic changes.

  2. The truth is, GRAW is GR evolved. not in ways everyone likes, but hardware has changed, tactics have changed, i guess the demo closed or opened according to ones view, how many people will move on to continue GRAW.

this reminds me of people who used to go to dance clubs. like some say, they get tired of the same old scene and stop going. I think the real issue is some people have changed. they might not realize it but they have changed.

GRAW will live on for those who love and die by those who don't. the demo sorta made this happen. :g_withgrin:

A totally new game with some modern featues.....yes.

    GR evolved?........no.

  3. The community has waited so long for a remake or something close to the [Ghost Recon]. My clan was so looking forward to this game and so disapointed now. I have read threads where people really think this is Ghost Recon. This game will be $19.95 in three months. UBI has cut the market down to high end computer owners only. They did the same thing with Lock-On. Guys the feel is'nt there. The cold building up in your back as you approached the castle at night or the fire fights in Cuba, The cold in Moscow, the heat in North Africa. This is not Ghost Recon, its HALO in Mexico City. Sorry that I feel this way. I have played the demo over and over again and so have my clan mates and we just do not get the feel.

I know I will get flamed for this post, but there it is.

    SGT. HACK

    I totally agree. *sigh*

But I guess this is what we have to settle for and to make the best of it. :(

For ol times sake I'm going to buy it. I promised I would so I'm going to buy it. It does not have the legs to last but I will try to have fun with it for as long as possible.

  4. Ok dang nabbit someone start to seriously review this game including all the stuff we have been talking about from the demo.

How does the retail version compare?

    Weapons (how many...more than demo?)

    Graphics

    Final number of maps

    Final number of missions

Number of mp gametypes and what are they

And for goodness sake somebody figure out how to mod the coop limit already!!

That should only take a decent modder 5 minutes flat to figure out.

    :wall:

    Hello!!!!! :o=

Demo and Retail game feel exactly the same. There is no difference except for the fact you have the full game to play except for one part of a mission. Not much more to say.

Weapons, well, there's the real problem I have. GR1 exceeds here in every way except for customisation. Colin had suggested that there are more weapons in the full version...still waiting for them.... :nono:.

All I've seen so far is what you get in the demo:

    Primary:

    SCAR L

    SCAR H

    Mk46

    MRC

    M99

    M8

    Secondary:

    M9

    Glock

    M8 Compact

    MP5SD6

    Others:

    ZEUS MPAR

Graphics, well the graphics are no different either. This will depend on your rig though. Mine is pretty much as high end as you can get minus going into Crossfire/SLI. I can run everything at full at 1600x1200 with no worries. Looks fantastic. I don't give two hoots about no AA. It looks fine. This is a draw back from the deferred shading or something (IIRC) they are using. Don't care, looks good.

Maps for MP off the top of my head numbers 5. Not alot. Should have been more.

Don't know how many SP missions there are. But they tend to be quite lengthy on the harder settings, and the enemy AI is really very good. Ghosts AI is good too, though they tend to be a pain in the rear sometimes. I don't like how they are spaced out so far. Small teams would rather stay rather close then spread out over 50 - 100, which I have seen some times. It is difficult to bring down heavy fire on an enemy position when your team is blundering about 50 metres down the road. You should be able to set team spacing and break your team into 2 fireteams. GR1 wins here again. Squad controls and movement were MUCH better in the first.

MP gametypes are COOP and Domination(I think that's what it is ??) haven't really looked at MP yet. Not enough servers or people playing yet.

Thats it really. Good game, but lacks a few things which made GR1 really shine. Squad control needs much more focus, it's clumsy and sometimes really annoying.

There needs to be a buttload more weapon loadouts. I want M4A1, M16A4/M16A4 SAM-R, M14 DMR, SR25, M240 or M60E4....so on. ACOG's !!!!! Where the heck are the optics ?? Engagements are sometime's over the useful range of the Aimpoint and EOTech, ACOG's ARE A MUST !! I also want to be able to mount optics and sights on the Mk46.. why only iron sights ?? Deploying the bipods are also something I want.

Weapon selection need ALOT MORE FOCUS AND VARIETY.

Overall I like it, but it does need work.

EDIT: Would have liked some customisation of the kit the Ghosts wear. Different helmets, load bearing equipment, different uniform (ACU, Marpat....so on), at the very least in the MP game).

I'm sorry but that just isn't enough weapons. I hope that they are truly working on the add-on and more importantly that we have SOME say about what goes in it.

NOW......NOW is the time when GRIN should be hanging out here at the forums. When they are working and not goofing off and hanging out like because they were essentially done and wanted just to talk to us.

    We need more weapons.

We need more and varied gametypes for sp and mp (SIEGE PLEASE)

We would like to have options for other gear besides weapons

More feedback please on the retail version.....someone?

  5. Do you think the host should be able to set # of respawns in multiplayer??

Yes =  I hate being forced to play "hardcore" all the time.

No  = I love the fact that if I die, I may have to wait 20 min before I can play again.

Of course the host should be able to set how many respawns he wants. Its his server and the settings should be as flexible as possible. Thats how it was in the original why change it now?

  8. The fighting looked a little unorthadox to me in some places, but it's still pretty cool to watch. I saw a real good home made duel on video google, I'll try to find it now.

Edit: Found it, Art of the Saber

Just started, and I can already say I prefer it. Remembering to give the guy who cared about his family the red lightsaber is good.

I agree. The art of the saber was the best of them all.

Heck, I enjoyed it better than some of the star wars movies.

  9. Ok, so I'm confused now.

I am NOT buying an AGEIA card for this game. Its just not worth it. But, regardless of whether I have a ppu card or not are you guys saying I have to upgrade the ageia driver ANYWAY if I want better game performance?

And if that is true how do I do that?

    AND.........

and is ageia practicing to be big brother and that is why the ageia app in the icon tray is using up bandwidth? What the hell?

  10. Wait nevermind. It would seem he was just fooling with some settings. this is what he says......

You edit the "renderer_settings.xml" file, found in "GRAW/Data/settings" folder and set to "low" instead of "high"

    ph34r.gif

So there is a way you can tone it down without turning off the nv. I'm going to try this out in the demo.

  11. I just got it from a friend of mine some new info:

It will be an option to turn post effect on "LOW" which he says is a good compromise.

If turns out to be true I think it would be good news.

Please note this is not confirmed yet. But I think its good news.

I'll try to confirm this and let you all know.

  12. I've been playing Ghost Recon 1 for the last four years and this new game is not like the original or an improvment of the orignal.  Its like Rainbow 6 game scaled down in real time with the added ability to slide when running.  Don't get me wrong I had high hopes for this game....I wished to heck that it would be great and I was soooooo excited about the demo and the release of the full version like no game ever released before....with the exception of stumbling across Operation Flashpoint demo by accident one night way back when.

I'm sure even you half hard core ghost recon fans will get tired of wasting your ammo shooting up the same old cars, doors and wheels as I did within time.

Anyway I feel that the Ghost Recon / Desert Seige / Island Thunder source code should be released onto the net so that the true die hard fans can give this game the true upgrade that it deserves.  i.e. falcon 4.....and commanche vs hokum....you want to see a real improvement on a game ..... let the true fans that have a wee bit of skill at programming have a go at it and you will see totally amazing results.  Its a sad day when console games are better then the pc games when there is all that unsed potential available to developers.

Long live the GR1 mods and Ghost recon dot net!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank-you very much modder people.....you have brought many a great hour of fun and suspense to my gaming life....

    Cheers.....

    I hear ya man. :(

These guys beating you up in this thread.....lets see if they are still playin graw in 5 years.

  13. He should know that in real life the mission gets completed no matter what.

maybe in the army where you have unlimited man power, but not with a 4 man team. the only reason there's 4 is because the crosscom is their only advantage, without that it's 3 men, with limited support, against all those rebels. get real. they would extract asap with the package or not and another team would be inserted.

Get real? The team that small wouldn't have been inserted for a special mission in the first place! They are trying to mimic the RTFA system I can betcha a dollar on that for sure. <_<

By "RFTA" I meant the Marine's "ready team fire assist" method for MOUT.

4 man teams are out these days due to lack of fire power and inability to carry weight. Yes these are short missions but extraction times are never guarnateed, especially if there is a reason you have to free fall into and area. Look what happens when you deploy on MOUT / OBUA in Mogadishu with projected 12 hours operation time - you end up there for 36 hours or whatever and you need a shed load of ammo / gear plus more manpower anyway. Urban ops is a technology leveller - even for 'ghosts'.

However, in a restricted game area in a city with guaranteed extraction / entry within the game script - it makes for some good playability.

    My opinion only.

Even so I think you just made the case that 4 man special missions teams are just TOO small to be realistic. I don't even understand why they did it for the console version for that matter.

  15. I'm not sure the "IT" can really be communicated by words. All I know is I don't have the same feeling I did when I played the original GR1 demo. I remember playing that thing for hours on end. And the countless hours I spent working on gun models for a mod and the excitement I felt over helping others make mods or the anticipation to download stuff for the game.

But, I don't see myself excited over modding for this game.....unfortunately. What does that mean for the long term I don't know.

I'm just hoping the full game reveals much more potential for this game. But again, I will buy it anyway and have fun with it for a while. In the back of my mind though I will always be on the look out for a special forces fps that has......"IT".

I think its only 4 because thats what they wanted to do for the xbox 360 version. Actually, I have no idea why they wanted to force the 4 man team on everyone in the first place. Special forces units are usually much larger. See, this game has a regular army feel to it as well as the 360 version. Perhaps they are trying to mimic the 4 man marine urban unit philosophy? You know....the "ready, team, fire, assist" (RTFA) urban combat system.

Can someone from the real special forces, I don't care from what organization (rangers, seals, sas, etc) can you guys please come in here and comment?
