  1. I'm pretty sure they're keeping the "supermodels everywhere" part. ;)

LOL ya I just saw the trailer. They gonna need to keep the supermodels for sure. But with this guy....he seems to be all business. LOL hes liable to shoot them!

  2. Well I hope this thriller does well. But I will miss the over-the-topness of the regular bond flicks with the supermodels everywhere and the supervillains trying to take over the world and whatnot.

But this change of pace might be refreshing....we'll see what happens.

Actually, Its been a while since I've seen a good tom clancy thriller. Wheres the movie version of rainbow six? :(

  3. to the guys dissing the game without ever playing it, please shut the hell up :o= !

i'm getting tired of reading posts by guys who refuse to buy it, but want to sit here and make statements about wanting to see things changed on a game that they don't have.

you don't want to support the game? fine, it is your right, but you don't have the right to tell GRIN or UBISOFT on what to do with it, since you refuse to pay for it. i forked over my money and i'm satisfied with their work (having a good time with SP), but like others, i have my requests for future mods.

the difference is that i actually supported the game and the GRIN/UBI team. so, i can post on here some things that i would like to see because i actually bought their product. i don't care how much of a fan you were of GR1! that was then, this is now. you can either sit there and continue playing GR1, or you can fork over your money and get GRAW.

please make up your mind and stop posting about "i'm gonna wait a year or until the next patch is released". it does those of us with the game no good because you don't have the damn game to play against us on MP. then some of you want to talk crap about the Domination mode and it's lack of tactics. buy the damn game first and bring us your tactics!!!!!!

those of you who don't have GRAW, but want to flame it, are not part of the community (the GRAW community), so stop fakin' as if you are and stay with the old games!

dude.....you awake? This thread is about people who have it and are already bored by it.

    read post above yours ;)

ya i know. it was already too late when i pressed the submit button.

  5. if this is the case where are they? not 1 post from them here or anywhere else. they will have to do what UBI says. if they say no to tools GRIN cant release them.

or they will be in a court battle and GRINS days of making games is over. and with UBI's plan for a patch in june lmfao  i stopped listening to UBI's word long time ago. They made a post about a patch in june,1 day after the game is released. that tells me they knew about the problems before the game was released. they wanted to release it so we wouldnt bash them again for setting the release date back is what i think.

Look at lockdown not one patch for it yet.

LOL...they are on vacation...and one of them already posted this:

We will come back to the office with new found energy, inspired and more than willing to correct our mistakes and polish this game even more - trust me.

    Thanks for stickin' with us.

All your doom and gloom BS isn't going to help. If you guys want them to make the changes we need, stop being little kids and start acting like adults and offer constructive criticism for GRIN. If you don't think that will help...CRAWL BACK UNDER YOUR ROCK and go find another game to stock. It has all been said, OVER AND OVER again and continuing to whine and gripe about it does NO GOOD.

    :lockd:

Its getting to the point that any criticism at ALL is considered by the censors as childish. You know what.......there isn't any doom and gloom BS.

    .......only time.

    Its time that will tell.

    tick...tock.....tick........tock.......

  6. if you try puttin your Anistropic Filtering on 16x , it should reduce the aliasing . i can still notice it , because i was looking for it ... ie. in the chopper at the SAW PARA , but other than that it pretty much ditched the jaggies .

oh heck 16x you say? Oh well then problem solved! Lemme go warm up my rig that has 64 gigs of ram 10 terabyte harddrive and 5 GB of ram video card.

I can't even run graw on 8x without lag man. :(

  7. the stuff i see as wrong can be fixed, graphics and performance issues, dedi files, MP modes/maps, mouse/keyboard lag

    maybe you missed this m8:

ATI's 'Chuck' on HDR with AA in Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter

When the demo of Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter for the PC became available last week, one of the first and loudest complaints to come out of our forums was that the game didn't allow for the use of anti-aliasing in any shape or form, leaving users with jaggies galore wherever they cared to look in the game.

As the game utilises High Dynamic Range rendering, it was already clear that there was no chance of NVIDIA boards supporting anti-aliasing in this title, but what of ATI? Thoughts immediately turned to recent developments with Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and ATI's special driver that allowed for High Dynamic Range and anti-aliasing to be used in this title. The question on everybodies lips was - Could ATI pull off the same trick in Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter?

Of course, there is only one man at ATI to whom this question can be posed - The mysterious driver developer known only as 'Chuck'. So, over the past few days we set out to communicate with this international man of mystery - 'X's were taped to windows, cryptic messages were left in the classified sections of newspapers, boxes of chocolate were squirreled into Terry Makedon's bedroom late at night while he showered. And finally, we had it - An official response from ATI's 'Chuck' regarding the possibility of anti-aliasing being enabled in Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter.

What did he have to say? Here's the quote, directly from the man himself, in full:

The rendering path in G.R.A.W is very different from most games in that it appears to make extensive use of multiple render targets (MRTs). (This is where one draw operation can write different values to different surfaces.)

The DX9 spec doesn't allow multi-sample AA when using MRTs and our hardware requires that all of the destination surfaces either have AA or not. This means that in order to get AA in G.R.A.W. we'd need to have lots of AA surfaces and perform a ton of AA resolves. The end result would be slow and require much more texture memory. It's not 100% impossible, and I'm not giving up on the possibility, but there is no playable solution right now.

So, there you have it - There is still a chance of being able to use anti-aliasing in Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter on ATI hardware, but seemingly only a very slim one. Our assumption was that the use of deferred shading for the game's lighting technique was the prime suspect, but it seems from ATI's own analysis is that it's the use of multiple render targets that cause the issue here.

I'd like to thank 'Chuck' for his time and thoughts on this issue - But I can't, because he's returned to his secret underground lair in a parallel dimension. So, instead, I'd like to thank Terry Makedon for his time and efforts, and hopefully he can pass our gratitude on to 'Chuck' via Morse Code. Or something.

Silly question: why was graw made like this then?

  8. I think alot more people were more polite a couple years ago or even last year. But after the bf2 betrayal people just got angry. Not even annoyed.......actually angry.

Then it became bitterness. lol ya for a game. It was gr1's fault for being so good in the first place. Maybe they should stop making good games like that so we can avoid situations like this in the future.

  9. I'm sorry but that just isn't enough weapons.  I hope that they are truly working on the add-on and more importantly that we have SOME say about what goes in it.

NOW......NOW is the time when GRIN should be hanging out here at the forums.  When they are working and not goofing off and hanging out like because they were essentially done and wanted just to talk to us.

    We need more weapons.

We need more and varied gametypes for sp and mp (SIEGE PLEASE)

We would like to have options for other gear besides weapons

That is more weapons than the REAL Special Forces guys have. In one breath you want realism, in the next you say you "need" more. It's not a matter of "need" it's a matter of "want" and unless you ask more nicely, you probably won't be getting it from GRIN and will have to wait for modders to do that for you... if they get access to the editor.

Yes more weapons than a real sp forces unit. But many units worldwide in various operations collectively have a very large assortment of equipment and weapons. Since this is also a game we would like to have those options so we can try different things out.

*sigh* we want [GR] but updated. :(

I've already come to realize and accepted that we will not be getting what we "want". But its good just to hear it and to acknowledge it just the same.

In anycase, this is it guys. This is the new gr. :(

And anything modders do it won't be for me......it will be for us. ........if they get access to the editor.

  10. The thing that I took exception to in the original post here was the toadying and general sucking up attitude. It is up to all of us to make comments as to what we like/dislike about this or any game. I think the boys at GRIN are big enough to watch out for themselves.

My opinion (one that I'm NOT forcing on the rest of you..) is that the game looks awesome in places but as normal these days I feel it is leaving me wanting more of what GR1 gave me..(YEARS OF ENJOYMENT) I acknowledge that patches etc. are the order of the day nowadays, so thats inevitable. But I WILL reserve the right to question, comment, propose or criticize a PRODUCT that I PAID for. As they say "the CUSTOMER is ALWAYS right"

ps: We must ALL remember the issues with GR1 before they patched it..right? :)

I think the problem is that some people think that being nice and respectful automatically means being a suck up to grin or ubi. So in their horror and disgust of the idea of having to be a suck up they're being rude or aggressive to guarantee that they won't seem to be a suck up.

At least, thats how it seems.

  11. Don't worry. I won't be arguing for much longer.

    Its too late.

Whats done.....is done. I will play graw for a little but will always be looking out for gr1's true sequel.

Its been 5 years of incredible fun and I've held onto and defended this game and kept the faith long after alot of fans simply left. On a side note I apologize for not being able to finish the community mod or to release the rest of the sniper cannon material.

In anycase, soon enough it will finally be time to move on.

If your happy with graw as is then more power to you.

  12. (I apologize for the rant and accept this thread will more than likely be moved or deleted, but I feel it ought to be said.)

When the Grin developers, (at some expense to their own free and work time) decided to come onto these forums to try and give their fanbase a little bit of support, you all seemed pleasant enough. Fairly appreciative of their presence, at the very least. Anyway, at some point I guess your sense of wonder wore off, because the forum (and I imagine their PM boxes) became flooding with idiotic criticisms, nonsensical demands, and uneducated accusations. Likely not one poster here has even a third of the knowledge of game development that the people at Grin do, but nevertheless all of you decide you knew better, to a point of argument and attacks.

Still, like some kind of surreal battered spouses, the Grin employees have continued to post, and no matter what the moderators do they can't seem to stop the flood of:

    Mod tools

    Not planned  :o

    Hit Boxes!?

    will there be more skins?

    SCREENSHOT KEY?

    Damn pesky bugs...

And of course the many deleted threads. On page two 'On the eve of release i just want to thank GRIN' has 30 views and no replies.

Whether you like the game or not, at the very least be polite, civil, and respectful. And a little bit humble, considering you have, truly, no idea how to make a game. All it seems you can do is insult and demean people who work day and night to bring you (under appreciated) entertainment.

We have to speak up....period. Its our money going into their pockets. So we have a right to our opinions.......including rocky himself if you haven't noticed.

  13. I would just to say that this game rocks ! With a few minor fixes (mine and others suggestions are found HERE) This game will have exceeded my expectations ! (this is of course if my specific suggestions for fixes are resolved  :P  :D )

    Good Job GRIN !

Don't pat them on the back so hard that they decide not to work so hard on the fixes. <_<

  14. The problem is that the thing the card can do the best is smoke effects and small particles. Watching the smoke/dust be kicked up and blown around as bullets fly through it. Smoke/dust is really the only thing they can't do because of MP, though. When you add more smoke or move it around it's different on everybody's computer, especially if you don't have the card. The PhysX card was thus limited to little pieces of metal and little leaves that disappear after 5 seconds anyway.

Well, that is not what the card does best. That is what it mught do best in GRAW, but the PhysX card is WAY more powerful than what is shown in GRAW. It is almost an afterthought IMHO. Not a cut on GRAW the game at all, but it really does not do a very good job at showing off the PPU.

Yes, I have first hand knowledge of the PPU and what it can do.

    -John

I'm afraid I agree. I think it has something to do with the diesel engine which seems to be a couple or more years old. Imagine the physics card on a source engine game or crysis. I don't think I will be buying an ageia card for this game. Perhaps from the get go they made graw having physics acceleration as a madatory requirement.....

maybe then we would be seeing cool stuff the card could really do.

  15. How about having the ability to add a scope or sight to any primary weapon we want? I don't want to have to mod an elcan sight onto a lmg just so I can get it. Any primary weapon whatsoever should have the option to add a sight. You pick a primary and then you have a section of the screen devoted to sights/scopes. Then you click the checkbox you want.

They coulda done a much better job.

Its adequate as it is now but......no really....they coulda done better. They have the option of improving it though if they really wanted to.
