  1. Pave - I was asking if there was relevance to continued bug notification. Don't worry about it... I won't bother to post them again based on the feedback received for this one. And yes, the CTD was repeatable... again, mucho apologies if I didn't state that but a message asking me for clarification might have worked to resolve the issue. -John K.
  2. There isn't anything awaiting validation. Has it now shown up or is it still "missing"? Is it possible it was a duplicate bug report and was merged with an existing thread? I submitted it over the weekend.... I got the standard "this must be validated before it will appear" message, etc. It was about a CTD in a particular mission. The sub-subject was SP - v1.04. I don't think it's been merged with something else since nothing else with a recent date deals with a similar issue (as far as I can see). I just checked and it's still not on the bug forum. -jk
  3. Hey all... no intent on starting a flame war here... but I posted a new CTD bug a few days ago to the bug sub-forum but it hasn't been validated yet... that got me wondering if we should bother reporting new bugs. Anyone heard anything? Can someone from GRiN at least let us know if we should continue reporting them? Thanks! -John K.
  4. Agreed. If GRiN is going to spend the time (creative time) doing new maps, please allow them to be used for SP and MP. Limiting them to ne or the other would be a criminal sin... -John K.
  5. Next to last objective (taking out the Havoc).... was walking down the street well behind the tank... it was shooting forward and I hit zoom on my rifle to check out the path ahead... I got the zoom image, found a tango and fired once.... got the CTD window. This was an error I had not seen before so I thought I would post it here. 6. Man, I can't believe I missed those. Again, great additions and I second each of them. -John K.
  7. Okay, THAT'S funny. Thx for the explanation...
  8. Good catch! I second this. Firefight and Defend are still the primary reasons I play [GR] SP to this day... -John K
  9. Agreed, plus (and this is all SP since I'm not a big MP player): 6. Add the ability to run while changing a mag... make me take longer to change it but for God's sake forcing me to walk slowly while changing a mag is one of the most ridiculous scenarios I can possibly consider. 7. Fix the bug that I've posted in the Bug Forum about Quicksaves. When you load a quicksave it doesn't always restore your position... if you're prone (sniper) when saving it can restore you standing fully upright. Not a good thing. 8. Less kit restrictions. I want an M14 for range but I want a secondary rifle that's better than a 9mm MP5SD. I'd be willing to sacrifice a sidearm if I could do that. Make the kit restrictions weight-based, not class-based. 9. Can I just re-state your #5 and consider it a second item? NARCOM just ###### me off. 10. The AI accuracy is almost as ridiculous as the old [GR]... in [GR] you could get an untrained farmer with a dirty AK47 make a single round headshot from 100 yards. I've seem the same level of "accuracy" with the GRAW2 AI. The turret gunners seem to have hyper-accurate hearing... any sound from you within a range and you have about a half-second to drop to the ground. Again, having fired a similar .50 cal turret weapon myself I can tell you it's simply NO WHERE NEAR that easy 11. I've noticed that at times you can drop your SECONDARY weapon to pick up one off the ground (thus keeping your primary), but in other levels it seems even if you're holding your secondary weapon, when you press X to pick something up it drops your PRIMARY anyway. Most times I'd want to drop my MP5SD to pick up something else, not my primary weapon. I can't even tell if this behavior is consistent (design criteria) or a bug. 12. For some reason it seems to me there is only one distance for how far you throw a grenade... max distance. On the first mission I wanted to just toss a grenade over the building from the higher perch I was on. I couldn't do it.. the grenade was thrown at max distance each time, rendering my strategy useless. 13. I agree with someone else's comment that the first map is one of the most "open", and Quarry seems to have a few options (once you get INTO the quarry)... but all other maps are definitely locked into the "corridor" game mode... and having NARCOM kill you for stepping outside your boundary because you're trying to do something out of sequence is plain positive proof of this (In Quarry, try to walk up the winding road to the first guard camp without actually securing the entrance first. It will kill you. That's stupid... I wanted to get up to the top and set up a sniper perch but the game won't let me)
  10. ...and making insulting comments that seem to slip by the censor routines makes you seem so much more intelligent to me. Thanks for sharing. Looks like I might have found just the second name for my ignore list. -John K.
  11. I'm sure Ubisoft has a forum for you, Cangaroo... why don't you check that one out?
  12. I was really surprised at how limited the kit selections can be. On the final mission I wanted a long-range weapon (m14 due to it's capacity) but needed more than a 9mm (MP5SD) as my secondary... of course I can't do it. I would have sacrificed carrying a sidearm if it was an issue of weight but it simply won't let you do it. The kit restrictions are simply that... an arbitrary set of rules programmed into the game. Also, am I right in thinking the MULE only showed up in one or two missions? It's been awhile since I completed SP but the quarry was the first time... I'm struggling to remember if there was even a second. The pre-launch chatter about GRAW2 always included the MULE as a big whiz-bang thing about the new version... in my mind the bigger change (improvement) was the ability to pick up a dropped weapon on the battlefield. That saved me a BUNCH more times than the MULE ever did. -John K.
  13. Download Operation Storm HERE and you will see otherwise. I couldn't get a kill for myself as my guys were mowing down the waves of tangos. Oh, and prepare to die a lot. Hope that's not too arcadish for you! I played Storm and while I appreciate the fact that the modders are learning the tools, the spawn problems persist... enemies pop out of nowhere... I'm locked on with my sniper rifle and it's clear, then I take two or three steps, trigger a hidden switch and suddenly I have dozens of ###### of supertroops coming at me. I finished the three missions in Storm but it doesn't remove the linear nature of the missions... it just turns up the volume (literally). And the friendly AI is just as stupid... they stand up in the middle of the road at the opening and pop off several hundred rounds... you would think that while under enemy fire they might crouch down one position... -John K.
  14. /OFFTOPIC Remember, remember... the Fifth of November... Any "V" fans hereabouts? /ONTOPIC -John K.
  15. Sorry Tecmic, but this is like saying Ford will only make a car when a certain number of people promise to buy it, sight unseen. Ain't gonna happen for Ford... but... I think you're missing the bigger point... GRiN was handed one of the most successful, most LOYAL franchises in PC gaming history. Only DOOM, Quake and Unreal bring the marketing power that we have, or I should say "had"... when it came to an entire community centered behind a game and an idea. Either Ubishaft wanted to take the franchise in a different direction (my guess), or GRiN convinced them to do it. Either way, they HAD a build-in 100% locked market. I pre-paid for GRAW based on RUMORS for silly sake. I waited on buying GRAW2 but I STILL BOUGHT IT. No more. Ubi took advantage of my loyalty and my dedication to a genre and a game and I got one product that should have shipped with BETA watermarked on the background, and it's $50 successor that might solve some of the bugs, but with little content. They had two product generations of built-in purchasers and speaking only for myself, I got Ubi-Shafted. Will I still check in here from time to time? Absolutely. If some of the modders come thru with content I will want to know about it. Will I buy an expansion pack from Ubi? NO. I am done with giving them my money. I am like a person in a co-dependent relationship and this time I'm breaking the cycle and simply saying "ENOUGH!". I hope to see you all on the Black Foot Studios forums... -John K.
  16. Agreed with Monolith, Rabbi.... BFS is the future of this genre. I don't care if RSE gets the PC GR franchise back, they're still a part of UBI and that is the root cause. John and the gang at Black Foot Studios are worth the look, trust me. -John K.
  17. I'm an SP player so I saw virtually no difference in gameplay. My posted bug in that thread is still present. Intel Quad-Core 6600 processor, no overclock ASUS P3K motherboard 4 GB RAM (DDR2-800) but seeing less because... Win XP 32-bit SP2 with all current patches EVGA 8800 GTS (640 MB), latest CERTIFIED Nvidia drivers, no overclock LG 24" monitor, no overclock Western Digital 200GB x 2 SATA 3gb hard drives, OS and app on Drive 1
  18. Where have I heard such defeatist talk before? Hmm... Oh yeah, one forum down! We said the same stuff about GRAW! Coincidence? Well, I believe Ubi/GRiN did stop supporting GRAW1 once they announced GRAW2 was under development (correct me if I'm wrong here... was there a GRAW1 patch released after the GRAW2 announcement?). There are persistent rumors that GRiN's work with GR franchise may be over and RSE is going to step back in for the PC platform. Reading tea leaves is always a dangerous profession but patterns do emerge over time. GRiN delivering the editors and tools were huge but I've seen some threads that talk about how unfriendly they can be (powerful yes)... and those tools and the smart modders here on the board will certainly help prolong GRAW2... but in reality we got a small number of maps (both SP and MP in my opinion) with the retail package. If they put out an expansion set and charge a decent fee then I will buy it but if it's $29 or more than I'll be done financing Ubi's guesswork at how to address this market. [GR] lasted as long as it did because we got the game + two fairly priced expansion packs that were well-timed for delivery + the tools to let the modders go nuts. If Ubi is expecting to drop GRAW2 on the market, then the tools and expect the modders to keep the game going? Good luck with that strategy... Just my $.02, and we all know the true value of a free opinion, right? -John K.
  19. Amiga rocked. did you know Commodore have resurfaced and are making high end gaming PCs now? Ah... to have AmigaOS running on a quad-core Intel processor... That OS ROCKED... would have made Vista look like the pile of.... spaghetti code... that it is. Now we're severely off-topic... swerving the message hummer back onto the blacktop....
  20. I immediately canceled the installation and scanned the patch for viruses when I heard that music. I was saying to myself "###### kind of stupid crap is that?" Hey! Whats wrong with our install music? Several of us is old demo-scenes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demoscene) and this was the kind of music that was common on the old C64 and Amiga. Nothing wrong at all! In fact when it started playing I thought back to my own C64/C128 and Amiga days, too. Nice to know there are still some other throwbacks around here! -John K. Callsign threepoint.
  21. I hope you're right, White... but looking at the MP servers each evening is getting a tad depressing... LOTS of servers with 0/? .... that won't last forever while people wait for content... and it's simply not fair for us to put the pressure on the modding community to save the game. If GRAW2 dies due to lack of content it's not the modders' fault... -John K. callsign threepoint
  22. Now confirmed for version 1.04 as well. This one did NOT get fixed.
  23. Just as a note.. although xbox content is sometimes free... it reallly isn't. Remember you pay for the live service and also your isp. Would you pay monthly for your pc (besides your isp) if every few months you got free content? Apparently I would if Ubi is looking to charge for the Expansion Pack, right? There's a reason I don't play XBox Live games... and my ISP is paid by my company so that's not part of my equation. -John K
  24. The core game is okay... a few annoying bugs still are there... but the CONTENT is painfully slow in coming. And I'm afraid I have an issue justifying $29 for a mission pack from Ubi after spending $50 for GRAW2 and $50 for the mess called GRAW1. They're making DLC for the Xbox360 available for free these days... if they do that for GRAW2 then I will be summarily impressed and I will say so (and I will download and continue playing). Pay for Content at this point, would be a deal-breaker for me. The only way GRAW2 will remain on my system another 4 weeks is if the modders TRULY come out with some stunning work. Otherwise, I'm afraid when I blow away my current WinXP install and re-image next month I will probably forgo the re-installation. That doesn't mean I won't come back and check in... I went for 9 months without [GR] installed way back in the early days but when I came back and saw the missions, campaigns, etc. I pulled out the discs. Lastly, I checked out online play last night.... plenty of servers... most with 0, 1 or 2 players. Painful. -John K Callsign threepoint
  25. The QuickSave function always seems to restore the game back by putting your character in a full upright stance. This is a MAJOR issue if you've saved the game in a full prone position as a sniper. Suddenly you are back in the game at full height. I've tested this scenario in every map in SP campaign mode and it is consistent. The standard savepoints have occasionally done the the same thing but there are times when those DO appear to work and restore a prone position. -John K. Asus P5K, Intel Quad-Core 6600 processor, no overclocking 4 GB RAM (seeing less since I'm using...) Win XP SP2 32-bit, all current patches EVGA 8800 GTS (640 MB), current Nvidia certified drivers, no overclocking Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS, all current patches Western Digital SATA 200 GB hard drives... OS and game on drive #1
