Did u try the Alpha Squad Command Grids? http://www.ghostaholic.com/page.php?id=136 Its not a mod so u dont need to activate it to use it. It changes the files but it also has an installer to go back to original ones in case u dont want the new grid maps. i think they are really nice and clear.

I read in alpha forums that it will be a full download. It will be avalaible first for people playing the tourney. I dont know what will change but for sure the soldier class, there will be some differences. For example demo soldier will have charges or claymores and if u want AT u will have to be an Anti-Armor(or however is typed ) soldier class. All this reading their forums, right now i cant access them. Maybe u can or just try later

Also sometimes try to use nightvision. Not all the time but use it to take a look for a few seconds, many times u can see the shadows further.
