that sounds like a good idea. i wanted to do an m14 with aimpoint (a la BHD), and ya i know, they've been done before but whatever...Also an m14 DMR like in that pic would be really good. i think i started one a while back. would make a nice spotter rifle to go with the m40a3. I also started a MEU 1911.
ok, i don't want to get ahead of myself here. i haven't ever even got a model in game (i've never really tried though), and i'm also working on the Afghanistan mod with Marcinko and the Slink.
if there is anybody who want's to (would be willing to) export/scale/add helper points to any models I do for this little project that would be really good. You wouldn't have to do anything soon, but just whenever this get's done...

sweet! dude, i REALLY like that .chr. it's awesome, one of the coolest i've seen in a long time....
about support weaps, you can do 'em. i've got a lot of things i'm woking on now (real like and mod life)

ya, Earl i know is making one for OFP and if he has time he will eventually donate it to the Force Recon mod. I learned most of what i know about 3DSM from looking at some of Earl's renders...they're just that good. Also he posted a great explanation of how to do bipods here a while ago. I owe him a lot.
About textures...it's really hard to find any good ones. to model the gun i found pics of the stalk, scope etc all seperatly. I would be very gratefull if you could find anything...even a really good pic of a McMillan A4 (i think that's what the stalk is called)
PS, sorry for the bad jpeg in that link, i'll see if i can get my site working again and post a better render.

ya, the reason they weren't working is 'cause there could have been other kit files with same name. GR is really picky that way...

just a question about SOF: do the normally wear bulletproof vests or not? i've seen many different pictures. A lot of the SOF seem to wear a bulletproof vest and some sort of tactical vest on top...

As far as i' know the best looking models for weaps are in Earl's "Standard Upgrade". I'm not sure about the polly counts on them though. I think they are all lower than 1500

ok, sorry about that Ruin. no more "message sent" posts. i have seen this kind of stuff elsewhere, and Argyll, SC, and RS make valid points, but i will respect your decision.
as for the mod, RS, don't take this elswhere. we've already got a lot of stuff set up here. and just becasue there is ONE rule you don't really like doesn't mean you should abandon GR.net it has MANY redeaming qualities.
ok, back to the mod. any news RS? and sorry all, i haven't had ANY time to even post screenies lately, way to busy with school. but i promise as soon as i get a change i'll let ya'll look at what a great mod this is shaping up to be.

anyway, no i don't have more info than you guys do about this mod. go to the link i posted in my first post and have a look at the 3dsm render. that'll give you an idea about how big this will be. although i'm sure it will be split up into a few missions, it still looks huge...

PS, marcinko, i'm not in charge of this mod by a long shot, but it would be great if you could do some. i'd do the skins for 'em if ya want? see what kind of .chr RS says he wants.

ok. thanks Argyll, i got the skins and the .chr (beautiful work btw). i pretty much just pasted the FR skin i already had on to Argyll's .chr with a few minor changes...i'll post screenies tommorow.

PS, Argyll, i just had a look at your site and you've got yet ANOTHER amazing model done! it's the render under "SOF in Iraq". what group is that model? (seal, delta, ranger,GB?) and what mod can we expect him in?
