Really! WOW, that is some of the best news i've heard in a long time. It's just what newish modelers need to get better. samples. excellent. Thanks so much Pro
-
ya, i noticed that. Looks ok though, kinda like it's cliping into place.
-
not really, I guess i'll just have to stick around and see where we go very neat little animation swartz. How'd you get all the bits to move out at the same rate? or did you move each one separately?
-
meshsmooth isn't that easy to work with guys. To get it to work with predictable results you've got to make sure every polly has 4 sides. (this can become a nightmare for certain shapes). very, very good stuff.

man, the community is on a whole new level now, it's come such a long way. (swartz, look at your first renders ) I mean, i remeber when it was normal to present model's on a bare grey/black background with default lighting. Then people created those cool scenes.... and now these pro-looking demo reels! Very classy guys.

just joking mate. 2500 is quite impressive for that level of detail. Would easily go into GR on most computers too...

ahh, i see now, that clears things up. Thanks for all your help swartz.

sweet! nice one swartz. especially on the pollycount, it is in editable mesh right?

an update on the m24: I sent the model over to swartz to UWV map (big thank you to him) and have a go at the texture (i've never done it before). He gave me some tips. First of all, this model is "un-optimized" not exactly sure what that means, but I assume it means that the pollycount can be brough down some. The pollycount. Apprently, when you work in editable polly, the "polygon counter" in max doesn't work. So the polly count i posted earlier was wrong. Swartz has kindly offered to add and PEQ2 model to one of the side raills. I guess i'll make a scope and bipod then. That should bum

thanks Swartz means a lot comming from you

very nice, but there is something funny going on with that left leg... a texture problem?

An M24 SWS made for Ghost Recon. The model is based on pictures of an actual m24 used by a SFG operator in Iraq. BIG thanks goes to Hatchetforce for providing all the great pics. 663 pollys: please C&C courtesy of Hatchet: Could one of you talented modders take time to texture this please? Many of you have finished high quality bipods, scopes, and PEQ2's lying around. If one of you guys have the time, all you would have to do is add a scope, bipod, and maybe PEQ2 on one of the side rails and texture the main gun itself. All the reference pics you will ever need are in thi

can't wait for this one

very nice! can't wait to see it in a Sixpence mod

Good to see another Ontario boy around here you did something about another mods leadership?? I was a bit concerned because their site doesn't have anything up yet. It's just a comming soon page... Good luck on Insugency btw. It's looking amazing so far.

thanks again man. Most modders would kill for reference pics of this calibre. Very interesting pics by themselves too. I haven't seen any real good pics of military sniper rifles. So does each ODA have a sniper/DM? Do they only tag along when the mission might require them? Sorry, I just don't really understand how a sniper/DM would work in a SF detachment. oh ya, one last thing: I'd like to wish you military guys a big Congratulations on giving Iraq their first free democratic election in decades. (Since I don't know anyone in the military you are receiving this for what little it's wor

holly Sh**!! Hatchet, you are the BEST. Thanks for taking the time to post all those. ps, what kinda kit gets put on those rails? PEQ2?
-
short answer: no sorry dude, the GR engine doesn't support it. The best that can be done is to put a 2d picture of the weapon comming from the side of your screen. The game treats it like an oversized ret. Because it's just like a reticule you won't see reloading or muzzle flashes like GRT said.

Yup, it's too bloody cold to go outside. not much else to do. stupid NHL Just to clarify, this IS true. It was on CBC radio, there is no rumour here, it was reported to the CBC and now the ministry has responded: I heard an update on the radio: apparently the DOD released some statement saying that even if there wasn't the proper documentation, everybody will recieve compensation. Didn't mention JTF-2, but it was clearly aimed at this situation. I don't think there was any ever doubt that he would be compensated, the porblem was what he had to go through to get it. no offence taken g

Look, let's not make this political (right or left) I happen to be "way out in left field" but I still agree that yes, this is a dirty shame. It's no wonder JTF-2's numbers and dwindling, operators are leacing for far better pay and private contract jobs. I'd agree though that the Canadian government had better get it's act together in terms of the military. If they're gonna have one, they should fund it right and organize it right or not bother. PS: still looking for an online article, nothing so far....

I just heard on CBC radio (think: Canada's BBC) that a member of Canada's only real Special Forces unit (equivalent to Delta, SEALs, SAS but younger) will not be compensated for an injury he sustained while on a mission! The governments half baked excuse is that because JTF-2 is under the "Official Secrets Act" that members cannot acknowledge it's existence. There is no paper work indicating that this mission took place, so the guy won't get paid! Just for speaking out about this he is potentially putting his job on the line. It's terrible how these guys are treated. I'll try and find the

Is there any chance you could get more pictures of it Hatchet? pretty please? I'd love to make a model out of it so a straight, high res side on shot'd be really nice... please :whistle:WOW! that's one of the nicest rifles i've seen. also, what kinda stuff goes on the rails? oh ya, and could we have more pics of that m24 please? Thanks Hatchet. For posting all this and putting up with the requests.

Big media update recently. WIP renders of tons of weapons and a few concepts. Well worth a look. -EDIT- posted to the public now here

Half Life 2 Ending.....YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING!
JTF-2 replied to Stalker_Zero's topic in Shooter games (FPS & TPS)
yes, I completely agree. It was pretty lame, nothing was really answered or revealed. No reward. An ending should be one of those things you want to see again and again because it was just so cool. HL2's was certainly not. I don't wanna wait for HL3, we just waited so long for number 2! -
hope we get to see some of your stuff in GR2! really, some of the best character work i've seen. what kind of stuff have you done before? modder or in the industry or a bit of both?
