  2. Of course there is Igor.......

Igor make cool regular sniper Billy Bad-axe...

See Billy....See Billy's new kits...Billy has an SVD and AT4...Billy also carries an SVD and Demo....and an M-98SD with MP-5SD....and an M-9SD and AT4....

Gotta love Igor and the Kit editor.

  3. ok..just read all of the posts (and for the record..I didnt vote) and one thing was overlooked....

the mercs/"security specialists"/civvies with rifles were guarding a food convoy.

    per MSNBC

Blackwater Security Consulting, a company based in Moyock, N.C., said in a statement Thursday that the four victims were its employees. The company, which hires former military members from the United States and other countries to provide security training and guard services, was hired by the Defense Department to provide security for convoys that delivered food in the Fallujah area.

not trying to start some flame fest or some contest to see who has the bigger Zippo...just pointing out something that was missed...

  4. You've been reading to much Tom Clancy (Without Remorse???)

    Actually.....

    ...old school stuff recently...

Mack Bolan, Phoenix Force, The 5th Angel...*shrugs* ehh..wanted to get myself into the mood for the new The Punisher movie and hoping it was far far better then the Dolph Lundgren version.

  5. One month to live? Easy......

work my rear off for two weeks as well as scrounge up as much $$$ as I can. Week 3, I go do some recon....

    last week of life.....I'll just say this....me......crack dealers....lots of ammo...no fear...DSF.... :o=

  6. Well...IMHO...why even need a specialist? Mind you...Nigel does look cool and all...but when you complete a mission..his stats stay the same versus getting points and building a better solider with the regular guys.. Since the opening mission, I made sure I had one from each class in my group. If you do that, then your regular old Demo guy will be almost as good as Nigel....but by mission 6, better (especially if you use him as your main guy).

Also...Nigel has a limited kit selection..but the regular guy(s) have more of a variety...

  7. Been thinking about this and though they are not an SF unit, they still should deserve some recognition...they being the Swiss Guard.

Here's a unit that is the world's smallest and perhaps most colorful army, has been the chief protectors of the pontiff. Clad in Renaissance helmets and blue, red and yellow tunics (the colors of the Medici family) that are said to have been designed by Michelangelo. For routine work, the guards wear blue uniforms and berets.

While much of the work of the present day guards is ceremonial, they are responsible for the security at the Apostolic Palace, the papal apartment and the four main entrances to the Vatican. They are also in charge of the pontiff's physical safety when he travels outside the city state.

The Swiss Guard currently consists of a total of 100 men: 4 officials, 1 chaplain, 23 noncommissioned officers, 70 halbardiers, and 2 drummers. The halbard is the traditional weapon carried by Swiss Guards. The members of the Swiss Guard reside in a barrack in Vatican City. They serve for two years, with the possibility of extending the period to a maximum of 25 years. During this period they receive training in self-defence, attend shooting practice, take course in Italian and study the organizational structure of the Vatican. At the end of the first year they must take a very thorough exam.

Guard recruits must be Roman Catholic men of Swiss nationality who are single, under 30 years old and stand at least 5-feet, 8-inches tall. Guards need to have completed their initial military training in the Swiss Armed Forces, and obtained a certificate of good conduct from an ecclesiastical and a civil authority.

The interesting thing is that the halberds are not for show..but can kill someone skilled with it and yes..they get training on how to use them. Besides those, they also carry some nades (mostly flashbang, CS and/or smoke) and a side arm (I'd wager it's concealed under the breastplate). Ok, granted they are small and arent the SAS, SEALs or even the Speznatz (sp..apologies) but still worth the recognition as an interesting, yet probably bad axe unit.

  8. i think its cos most people would rather spend $130 on an alienware box than $3,000 on a full on gaming machine.

isnt it suspose to be the otherway around? Last I checked, an Alienware Custom ran about $4K for a bad-axe gaming platform whereas a console ran about $130 (Now on sale for only $99 because we desperatly want you to spend more $$$ on games!)

  9. i just remembered another one ... carl orf's carmina burana, o fortuna.

    (think highlander soundtrack)

[bCarmen Burana is a good album...forgot the name (because I dont have the CD in front of me) but the track after O Fortuna is pretty good too

I'm surprised no one has said Holst's "Mars : Bringer of War" yet...

    oh wait...I just did. :shifty:

  10. Seeing Joker's sig remined me of something I noticed tonight....

...anyone else notice on Stargate : SG1 the team has changed weapons out? First it was MP-5s...now it's P-90s. Hrm....

...could the writers (or prop guys) be GR/R6 fans or just military tech geeks?

    Hrm... :shifty:

  11. I thought the Green Berets were wearing them in the 60's. Which is when Kennedy made it an official part of the uniform for the Green Berets.

Well, dont forget the 82nd Airborne, USAF SP (or MP?)s (also I think the Pathfinders too..could be wrong on them though)and of course the Rangers who were ###### at the new beret being black..their beret.

  12. Ah, finally got that done. MSN is much more interesting now :P

there's some Mechwarrior WAVs out there that are perfect for Messenger...

"Incomming Messages" for new mail notification

"Enemy Power Up Detected" for when someone logs on.

    "Shutting Down" well duh. ;)

Oh and keeping on topic....how about

"Gods of War" by Def Leppard for a good song?

(be glad I didnt suggest "The Very Model of a Modern Major General" for the closing one ;) )

  13. ok, so this thread hasnt been added to in a long while, but in case anyone checks it for answers to their questions, here's some more helpful hints from expierence...

before joining, and I mean like 2yrs or so, join JROTC while in HS. If they dont have that (or if they do) join Civil Air Patrol.

Both teach you the fundementals you'll learn in basic (ie marching, how to salute, why you should never call an E6 who has a combat patch, CIB, more ribbons than the JCS combined "Sir", etc..)

While in those orgs, be sure to see if the instructiors (or senior members in CAP) can get you some manuals. If planning to join the army, the top 2 to get would be the FM 22-5 and the AR-670-1 (Drill and Ceremony, and Care and Wear of the Uniform respectivly). Be sure to take them along to basic. Sure the Drill Sergants will scream about it, but it shows you're at least someone who is going to take this seriously and will probably come in as an E1 (or E2, depending on what happens at MEPS) and leave with a promotion.

Big note though...from personal expierence..trust me...do NOT take in FMs for..."off the wall" topics like the Boobytrap Guide.. Umm..they really get paranoid and mad when they saw that in my personal drawer..erm I mean..they discourage it. (and Yes...I did have that and the one on Cammo..sadly didnt get the Infantryman's Guide to Urban Combat..then again I did go Field Arty. ;) )

    Hope that helps.

  14. seeing as RS/UBISOFT have forsaken us PC users (ie PS2 owners getting IT with additional maps??? ) I say we get the lead programmer for The Matrix : Online and he can "Agent Smith" his way in as a distraction (and clone anyone who gets in his way) while the R6 team rappells down from the rooftop, SC team comes from the rear..and of course GR Team takes the escaped Rocky to a highly sophiscated, state of the art medical center named "Bob's Wyld Gals" (you know..the triage center takes dollar bills only..hands on examinations while you sit...and 5pm Happy Hour)
