Well jeffery kind of touched on a different aspect. The M203 does have two different shotgun type rounds that dont need "arming" after they leave the tube because...well...hey..it is 00 bucksot or BBs in a shotgun pattern comming out. Quite nice for Close Quarters or "door openers".

75th Ranger is a good mod...any Harntrox mod is good...umm...*ponders* Dangerous Babes is a good distraction.

why is it for some odd reason I see him walking up to a medic aid station, riddled with bullets and an unexploded 40mm round in his thigh and saying "I need a Tylenol please" ???

then again....reminds me of The Discovery Channel the other night...they had a special on the taking of Bagdahd and some scrawny US Marine kid (looked like he was 18 barely) got an RPG to the head....and lived!

speaking of which...anyone see the newest Pizza Hut/Domino's/Whoever pizza commercial with Jessica in it? Ads for the new Buffalo Chicken [izza and they even ask her about buffaloes...and go figure...they show a buffalo with wings and Jessica runs over and goes "Do it again!" and clucks.
Ok...she's stupid for doing a commercial that makes fun of her stupidity...or wait...is that being smart? Hrm..cashing in on stupidity. Hrm....

I can only speak from mine, as a Canadian. God knows I've seen a few bad officers and NCO's in my time...and encouraged them to find employment elsewhere (like the artillery
). @FNG - now now...he said he's Canadian...so their FA isnt as welcomed as ours and he doesnt know how the US Army handles officers that get transfered to FA from another combat arms unit type (ie infantry, tankers etc). Usually, we send them over to Admin and let them sit it out there and keep them away from the big shooty things (ie the guns)

Of course, people should remember that there are people from different countries that use this board and different countries have different views about their officers. Sure, there's going to be officers that do stupid things (like go to Oktoberfest in Munich and on the train ride home, pass out on another officer who is passed out on the Battery Command who in turn is passed out across the Battery 1st Sgt...who all of them, while passed out, got their picture taken by a wily E-3) but then there is interesting things that do happen when officers from one country meet officers from another. Here's a real life example...
Graffenwoir Germany...1987...it's my batallion's ARTEP and by co-incidence, two other events happen the same month. 1) Army Reserve and National Guard units from the states take part in REFORGER 87 where they ship out to Germany. Graffenwoir is one of the few places live fire is allowed in Germany (at that time...and a few funny first hand tales about that). 2) NATO and the Warsaw Pac decide to do some "officer exchange" so that officers from each can see how the others operate. Ok, kind of political, but at that time what solider wouldnt want a free trip to go and observe the enemy troops in action?

Ok, so one day, the brass are cruising Graff with Warsaw Pac officers. They come across a unit's advanced party that is getting ready for the main unit to come in. The AP's highest ranking person is an E-7 (Sgt First Class) and he, and some Spec 4s and a few privates (E-2s) are all looking at maps. So this Czech Major goes ape###### and begins to bable to the translator...the AP crew went on working ignoring the "tour group" and did their job. Come to find out later the Czech Major was wondering where an NCO and enlisted men got maps. Seems in their army (and most Warsaw Pac at that time we were told..) NCOs never got maps...and enlisted never saw a map at all. Yet, here's our boys all looking at maps and doing their jobs.
Kind of interesting at that time...made us all wonder how their organizational structure actually went and what would've happened if one of their officers got whacked in combat.

lol..kind of reminds me of of what happened a while back.
..ok so back in '87 I'm on my flight from St. Louis to the 22nd Replacement Div. in Frankfort. I braved literal hell and high water at Ft. Sill for 13 weeks and was glad that even though the drinking age just shot to 21, in Germany it was still 15 (16, 18..still under 21 though
). The SSgt coinceidently sitting next to me the entire flight was the same that scored my PT Test (and yes, he remembered me..long story). So as we're sitting there, he telling me how to spot German women who want American citizenship (ie "i'm drunk.." then "I'm preggers and it's yours!" types) and i was relating some humorous tales from AIT, the pilot comes across the PA "Ok, ladies and gentlemen, if you look out the left side of the aircraft, you'll see some land in the distance. For those wondering, that is the country of Iceland. Should any of you have a chance, it's a really nice country to go to. Our ETD for Frankfort will be around 2pm and the weather there is forcasted to be in the lower 40s with a chance of rain...(short pause) Damn Bob, wish I had a shot of Jack and blow job right now.."
A nanosecond later, the stewardess runs up the aisle like a bat out of hell. As she passes me, I yell out "Dont forget the shot of Jack!"

She's like picture 350 out of the 385 pictures there. Of course I could've saved the picture but...well....hindsight is 20/20 (ok...20/30 in my case sometimes.
)but the site does have some other cool pictures too

saw a video clip on some Top 100 Hotties show that had her saying...and I quote...
"I know it's tuna, but why is it called Chicken of the Sea?"

The interview in question is at least a year old (if not older) IIRC. It always seems to pop up every now and then. Just a weird occurance it popped up around the time the whole "Columbine thing" took place.
I know...hence why I said I found it while digging through some old folders, but considering how old it it and the current mindset of the media, it does show a good representation of how either :
a. misguided
b. miseducated
c. just plain stupid
d. (other)
the media is concerning the military. Here's a good example and NO I'm not brings up any political arguments or anything of the sort BUT I am pointing out something of a military nature that is still bypassed by the media. Ok, so per the media no nasty ######ed weapons were found in Iraq right? Wait...what about that stockpile of mustard gas mortar shells? Wasnt mustard gas banned by the Geneva Convention in 1919???? Mentioned once...and then never said again. It's been this way since..gee..I guess since the first time the Egyptians went to war with the Babaloyians (sp..yes..I know) way back when...you know someone probably said bad things about Ramses and never served a day in their life, but darned if they didnt read all the papyrus scolls out on military operations....if the person could read that is.
So why did then I post it then?
Probably because it's a reminder of how stupid the press is and how these days all we see are bad reports about our military. Oh..such and such unit was under attack and returned fire and *gasp* civvies were killed....of course it's not reported that maybe the civvies dies from the shrapnel created when an RPG-7 slammed into a Hummer or Deuce 1/2...
..maybe we need more change this year not just in politics (remember...it *is* an election year, ergo there will be change of some sort..) but maybe an hugly needed overhaul of the press...if the press wants to spout their freedoms, ok...fine...but be unbiased, knowledgable of the subject matter and show both sides of the issue/report/whatever.
Ok ok...and also because the General was right in what he said an how he said it..remember...US Military personel dont say answers like "Well, the current socological ramificationson this matter are only increased by the eco-political atmosphere that the current educational leaders on a national level are willing to recognize yadda yadda yadda.."...no..American servicemen/women tell it like it is. No bull...no beating around the bush.
ok...I'm done ranting...sorry.

Well, for the "older" crowd (ie 35-50yrs old) there is a pict of a nice looking female captian in the 101rst with her good old M-9 shouldered (and Screaming Eagle patch centered in the photo) at about picture 350 out of 385 "approved" pictures here. ("approved" meaning declassified..of course there's probably some good looking SF chicks too..oh wait..that's right, the Army calls them Marines
Just kidding....*ducks the incomming for that one*). Anyhoo...I really dont want to keep hitting the "Next" button to find her in there (there's 5-6 pics per page) but there's still some good pics there for anyone who wants to see some good photos of say....HH-53s dusting off, Tomcats getting prepped, some JDF on a supervised Urban Combat range (that smacks of R6-UO...you'll know it when you see it.)Enjoy...
...and yes, she is a good find...too bad she's there and I'm here.

Ok I got one...was looking through some DoD approved picts and found......
Ok why her?
1. Not an actress or model therefore not an ego with breasts.
2. In the military. Specifically, (per the DoD site) a soldier with the 173rd Airborne Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, (greetimng Iraqi school children during a follow-on village assessment in Al Huweja, Iraq, Dec. 4, 2003)
3. Obviously the friendly type..and likes kids
4. Has a firearm AND knows how to use it
5. Has enough guts to go into a combat zone ergo, she can stand up for herself. That means no fighting guys that tower over you because they grabbed her rear AO. Nope...she'll just deck them herself. 'Atta girl.
6. Did I mention she's Airborne???

I didnt write the caption...
personally I thought that maybe the US Navy had a problem with Renault
(would say with Zivs,Zils and Zis'..but since the cold war is over......)

Well since I posted it, might as well comment on it.
First off, the General was making a comment towards people assuming and over analyizing like the reporter did. Had the Gerneral been replaced by say, ted Nugent, then the "killers" comment more than likely would've replaced by one that is for animal rights, etc. The reporter assumed in that interview that because the Marines were teaching basic firearms training (which btw, the military is far better at teaching firearms SAFETY than most civilian groups sans the NRA) that they were trying to make the kids into killers. A typical kneejerk reaction, especially after Columbine (dont get me started on that subject). Kind of like police profiling after 9/11 and how more than likely alot of Puerto Ricans got searched because they looked Arabic.
Point it, the reported assumed something about the course offered to the Scouts and made a biased comment. The General simply replied in a non-Politically Correct manner. (read : spoke his mind)
Look at the beginng of the interview. The reporter talks of irresponsability. How is training on a supervised riflerange, with highly qualified instructors irresponsible?
If anything, violence in movies and video games lend more to helping kids become more violent killers than teaching little Billy never to point a weapon at someone, always keep the firearm up and downrange with the bolt open and no ammo in the chamber.

I swear...those guys on the SS Essess get all the fun!

Ok, found this hiding away in my folders (was cleaning my folders out) and thought it should be posted. Some might have already read this before in the past, yet, it still shows how the USMC doesnt take crap from anyone..
This is one of the best comeback lines of all time.It is a portion of National Public Radio (NPR)
interview between a female broadcaster and US Marine
Corps General Reinwald who was about to sponsor a Boy
Scout Troop visiting his military installation.
FEMALE INTERVIEWER: So, General Reinwald, what things
are you going to teach these young boys when they
visit your base?
GENERAL REINWALD: We're going to teach them climbing,
canoeing, archery, and shooting.
FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Shooting! That's a bit
irresponsible, isn't it?
GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see why, they'll be properly
supervised on the rifle range.
FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Don't you admit that this is a
terribly dangerous activity to be teaching children?
GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see how. We will be
teaching them proper rifle discipline before they even
touch a firearm.
FEMALE INTERVIEWER: But you're equipping them to
become violent killers.
GENERAL REINWALD: Well, you're equipped to be a
prostitute, but you're not one, are you?
The radio went silent and the interview ended

So we're talking sequal then? Because I cant read japanese. If so, it figures since how the first one ended (ok that and there could also be a prequel..I've seen shots of some of the manga pages.)

SSgt McKenna realized way too quickly that he forgot civilians often dont know military slang...especially when he uttered "Mount up!".
What happened when he mentioned that they all will be "humping their rucks in the boonies"? Film at 2300....on Pay Per View (only $2.99!)

Strangely....I asked Jeeves when the release date for GR2 will be....
...my answer was my ISP and port # as well as the message of "Remain calm. A representive will be by your home shortly to explain."

just kidding....really I am just kidding despite having an MP5SD pointed at me...
Jungle Storm and others...
in GR (PC) - General Discussion
Posted
well the real question is...
..since Jungle Storm is really just Island Thunder with more missions...which MODder with the tools and proggies will make a MOD for the PC that includes the PS2 only missions and post them in the download section?
