Will Jacobs and Scott Mitchell are entirely two different characters. You can see Mitchell's bio on the new GR2 site, and check out Will Jacob's bio here: http://ghostrecon.3dretreat.com/grspecialists.htm It doesn't appear that any of the Ghosts in GR1 appear in GR2. Even the Ramirez in GR2 (i.e. Joe Ramirez) is different than Henry "don't call me Hank" Ramirez in GR1. I personally think it would have been cool to have some continuity in the characters.

I just tried for the first time to burn a CD with HT on in WinXP Home, and it was awesome that I could still surf, upload/download stuff off the 'net, and do image editing without burning a coaster.

Nice comparison Zantar. Who says RSE doesn't listen to fans? BTW, I don't think many people have seen the 2nd page of the new GR2 ad, with the artwork expanded to include 2 other Ghosts (I think Parker and Kim if I recall correctly from the bookstore) accompanying the screaming man (i.e. Mitchell)

Xbox™ Version To Ship Two Weeks Early!
CR6 replied to Serellan's topic in GR2 Console - General Discussion
← That's fantastic news! This means RSE's QA process must have been really great in order to send a bug-free build to Microsoft for certification. Ubisoft PR at the Houston demo event last weekend did mention the game could be released early if certification went smoothly. Congratulations to Red Storm for outstanding execution and completing the game ahead of schedule! The only bad side is that I'll only have a week to play Halo 2 cuz GR2 will likely be in my Xbox until the PC version comes out -
As sure as Island Thunder came out for the Xbox, Jungle Storm came out for the PS2, and Black Arrow came out for Rainbow Six 3, there will be an expansion for GR2. The only question is "when?" Also, since the expansion will likely come out on the console first, and has to priced at around the same point as a full console game, I am guessing that we can likely expect the GR2 expansion to be more substantial than the Desert Siege and Island Thunder mission packs we originally got on the PC. RSE has all the tools developed over the last few years for GR2, so hopefully it won't take them as

Nice find NYR! It's cool to see how this guy is honest about how his negative opinion of GR1 has been reversed for GR2. BTW, looking forward to reading about your impressions of GR2 after the NY demo

You're right. There's NO WAY that the build OXM UK "reviewed" was a final version, since Ubi PR at the Houston event said Microsoft is currently certifying the game. In fact, the reviewer had to have wrote that piece weeks ago if this issue of the mag was just printed and hit the stands. So the version of GR2 they "reviewed" was likely even older than what people saw last weekend in Houston. Pretty sad OXM UK jumped the gun and basically reviewed an unfinished product for the sake of having a review on newsstands by the time the game is on store shelves. Not too professional if you as

Just remember that OXM's review is just one person's opinion (well maybe two since the editor has to agree). I have read actual quotes from the article at another GR fan site forum and it appears that the reviewer was really struggling with playing the game. He had a very frustrating time coordinating an assault with the AI, and felt shooting enemies was quite boring. I have a feeling that tac sims are not his forte or favorite genre, which would naturally lead to a review like this That's the problem with taking reviews too seriously. I'm sure if a member from these forums who are ha

Hey Blistr, I believe you are correct. I downloaded the movie on my work system earlier today and saw the credits (cool font BTW ) I just realized the version of "Learning to Fly" was live when I heard the end of the soundtrack. I'm now at home and checked the file I originally downloaded and it is only 44.2MB as opposed to the 56MB it's supposed to be. Maybe I was running too many apps/windows while downloading and the download inadvertently got cut off early. (I think I was playing CoD:UO at the time )

I agree that there needs to be more choices in the poll I bought GR for the following reasons: - I really enjoyed the Rainbow series games made by RSE, and GR was the RSE's real successor to Rogue Spear - I bought GR and the expansion packs primarily to play through the single player campaign. Multiplayer and mods were just icing on the cake and extended the life of the game. - The GR demo immediately sold me on buying the full game.

Public North Carolina Event for GR2
CR6 replied to Serellan's topic in GR2 Console - General Discussion
The Canadian tour is half over already. ← Hey Dannik, you don't happen to be close to any of those places that are demoing the game? I'm suprised we haven't heard more fellow Canucks talking about this tour. -
As indicated above, you can install DX9c without installing SP2. This might sound silly but it may actually work: did you try using the WinXP Network Setup Wizard? I seem to recall you can create a Network Setup Disk (floppy) to help you setup a connection to other systems running non-WinXP versions of Windows.

In case people here haven't noticed another good report in the Ubi.com forums, here's a link: http://forums.ubi.com/eve/ubb.x?a=tpc&s=40...43&m=7521089632 Here are some choice tidbits from LordBlackfire's post: - Some contentious gameplay issues like sensors and respawn killing have been addressed. - Calling in airstrikes in multiplayer has been taken out due to bug issues. It was in the game at the San Francisco showing back in September but it was causing too many games to crash. No time to fix it so it is gone. (Maybe it will fixed for the sequel ) - The game is alrea

Hmm ... the movie I downloaded didn't have end credits - I just checked the end of the movie and noticed the music stops rather abruptly too ... (Played it on Media Player 10)

Nice work WK, very cool how you integrated the music with the video - nice choice for the soundtrack! Is the video taken from IL2 Sturmovik? What video editor did you use?

I'm a PC gamer primarily, but I'll be picking up Halo 2 to "warm up" for GR2 (to get used to using a Xbox controller instead of a keyboard/mouse) Although I tried out and was impressed with the first couple levels of Halo 1 when it originally came out with the Xbox, I actually waited 2 years for the PC version to come out as I knew I could finish the game faster with a keyboard/mouse, and the resolution would look better.

I'd suggest the usual sweeping with an anti-virus program, spyware remover, and checking your msconfig (System Configuration Utility) startup items to make sure something hasn't hijacked your right-click. You can also look under "Processes" in the Windows Task Manager to see if any programs there look suspicious.

Thanks for the report EasyCo! Did anyone get to try the single player missions?

Agreed! Right now, gaming still looks best on a flat screen CRT. Here's a hilarious article over at the Inq about LCDs as a status symbol http://theinquirer.net/?article=19317

Several people have noticed that IGN is hosting a new Red Storm produced video that gives us a guided tour of seven of the new multiplayer maps in GR2 Xbox. Low-res version (10MB) http://media.xbox.ign.com/media/675/675406...4_01_wmvlow.wmv Hi-res version (30MB) http://www.3dgamers.com/games/ghostrecon2/downloads/ Edit: Mirrored at http://files.3dretreat.com/file.asp?fileid=609 Here is a list of the multiplayer maps that are previewed in the video: Ghost Village Training Ground War Zone Ancient Ruins Lost Convoy Sand Mine Bunkers (Looks like a cool tribute to the classic Ro

I saw someone posted about this at the Ubi GR2 forums too. I think it deserves it's own thread as the MP map tour shows lots of cool stuff to discuss http://www.ghostrecon.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=21980
