    Google Game, join in.

LOL!!! Is this from the Google toolbar? I've never installed it since IE7 has the built in search thingy now.
  2. Way to go Rocky!!! Well-deserved and a nicely written piece. Hey, what is this GR "Legacy Edition"?? Don't think I've actually seen it in stores ...
  3. Impressive! There's still lots of challenge to be found in an almost 7 year-old game
  4. Which part of the interview was that? Can you quote it? I read it pretty fast so I may not have registered.
  5. After the unconscionable mess that was R6 Vegas 2 PC (eating up to 1GB of your HD from a error log file when crashing amongst other things) I am glad that Ubi is not wasting both their and our time and money with broken PC releases.
  6. Thanks Roco. Well, I got a MacBook Pro 2.5GHz (upgraded to 4GB RAM) a few days ago, but it's still sitting in its box as I have had no time to play with it There is actually a helpful site at apple.com for PC users: http://www.apple.com/support/switch101/
  7. Answers: 1. Look on Creative's site if there are Vista drivers for Audigy 4. I doubt Vista has Audigy 4 drivers built in. If no drivers by Creative, then you will have no sound 2. If you have 32-bit Vista or a 32-bit CPU (P4) then don't bother getting 4GB, as 32-bit Vista can only use just over 3GB if you have 4GB installed.
  8. OK folks, here it is: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4323.html
  9. http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/article.html...W50aHVzaWFzdA== Looks cool too with the heat sink. Check out the funky mouseover diagram I still got a couple 75GB Raptors in my P4 3.4GHz which I am still very happy with.
  10. Well, not sure if you guys noticed but the bad guy in Rogue Spear was based on Osama Bin Laden, and that was way before 9/11. A couple of the scenarios in Rogue Spear have "come true" after the game came out including the take over of a Russian theatre by terrorists and the downing of a NATO helicopter in Bosnia.
  11. Thanks GreyHaired. Any of you OEM/MSDN subscribers see SP3 show up yesterday?
  12. My work is paying for a new laptop, and I have seriously been considering getting a MacBook Pro since Apple switched to Intel procs. This way, I can dual-boot if necessary. OS X is looking very impressive since Leopard came out. So I am not "switching" like Mac ads would like us all to believe, but I will be using BOTH Windows and Mac OS and seeing the best of both worlds. Anyone here currently using a Mac? Let me know what you think. What software would you recommend? (e.g. office productivity, run XP virtually, Toast Titanium etc)
  13. I have 2 computers waiting for a XP reinstall, and I'm waiting for SP3. Someone give us a holler when you see the standalone SP3 final version available for download.
  14. Wow, prob because it is the "jewel case" (i.e. bargain bin) edition. Wonder how much it sells for? Good for GRIN that GRAW 1 is getting a second shot when most computers these days can run it at a decent frame rate For those of you too lazy to click the link:
  15. Hey Roco, what calculator do you use to figure out how big a PSU you need for your rig? Anyhoo, I got a EVGA 8800GTX for my still unbuilt Q6600 system, and got a CoolerMaster 650W PSU which I figure should be good enough for a non-SLI system. I actually just built a Q6600/P35/2GB RAM/8500GT system last weekend that will be used for a A/V projector system in a large building. We had an Antec case bundled with a 380W PSU. My friend did some calcs on some systembuilder's website he found online, and it said the system needed 405W! Figured to be on the safe side swapped out the Antec PSU
  16. Yeah, I got the exact same Seagate 500GB drive and have the same amount of space as you. The HD size naming conventions are very misleading, just like the monitor sizes that measure diagonal etc. I actually have another Seagate 500GB for a system I'm building tomorrow for a charitable organization - guess we never learn haha So are you going to partition your drives?
  17. Just saw the update, looks outstanding! Keep up the great work!
  18. Few questions: First of all, when you say "XP Pro" (which is the OS) we assume you mean "Internet Explorer" (which is the default browser in XP) right? Have you updated to IE7? How are you opening a webpage without opening your browser first? Most people have the IE or Firefox icon on their desktop/quickstart bar and they open up the browser, then click on their favorites (at least that's what I do)
  19. Couple things, do you have EVGA cards over there? They are supposed to have a lifelong warranty. I've bought a number of their low-end fanless cards and they are fine, so I just splurged a bit and bought their 8800GTX - not sure how noisy it will be ... With HD's, go for the best bang for your buck - i.e. the lowest price/GB. In Canada, right now the sweetspot is 500GB. See my calcs below: SEAGATE ST3320620AS 320GB 16MB SATA2 $85.00/320GB = $.27/GB SEAGATE ST3500630AS 500GB 16MB SATA2 $112.00/500GB = $.22/GB SEAGATE ST3750641AS 750GB 16MB SATA2 $175.00/750GB = $.23/GB
  20. LOL!!! That is classic Roco. You've summed up the whole problem in a few elegant equations!
  21. Yea, I really dislike Intel's new heatsink/fan mounting mechanism with the 4 pins. I've found a number of CPUs with this new system that weren't installed properly. I much prefer the old one with the 2 levers. Since this new heatsink/fan pin thing, I've always installed the CPU outside the case, so I can flip over the mobo and make sure the pins all went through properly and are locked in place. I haven't had to replace a Core 2 yet, but if I was to replace the CPU, I'd probably remove the whole mobo to be sure the pins are anchored in. In any case, perhaps Roco can answer: Is there an
  22. Wishing you all the best with your new job!
  23. Yup, Dan's right. Since about 10 years ago, the sound goes digitally through the motherboard, so only really old systems (i.e. 486, some early Pentium 1's) needed it. I haven't used that CD audio cable since the Intel BX motherboard.
  24. I've just purchased parts for a Q6600/P35/4GB/GF8800GTX rig but won't have time to put it together for 1-2 weeks
