  1. It was a real pleasure to play with you all, and it was an honor to take all those bullets for my team LOL No worries about the Teamspeak - you Spartans are very cool-headed and professional-sounding under fire. It's also a good thing I didn't have a mic as your concentration would have been broken with all my "Doh!'s" walking into claymores etc. After often being frustrated with playing with the run & gun/spray & pray style of the typical COD4 server, it was a real treat to play with the gr.net mod - much more intense, exciting and gratifying. The gr.net mod for COD4 is
  2. Thanks zeno and Walter, great info I got most of the files downloaded with the auto-download but it kept crashing on the big files, but now got the usermaps file showing up. Thanks again!
  3. Thanks for the info. Only prob is I can't find the usermaps folder. There is a mods folder but it is here: c:/program files/activision/call of duty 4 - modern warfare/mods But no usermaps folder - do I have to create that myself?
  4. Do I need to download and install this mod before joining in, or does it auto-update once I join the server? Thanks in advance for the info
  5. For all you Blade Runner and Lego fans, check out this one-of-a-kind model made by Lego just for Syd Mead http://gadgets.boingboing.net/2008/06/25/e...oneofakind.html
  6. Still no luck with the wireless eh? My ADSL at home went down for the weekend. Thought it was my Linksys modem this time (as my LAN connections were fine) but turns out they were upgrading my bandwidth speed from 1.2 Mbps to 2.5, so I guess I'll forgive my ISP for the downtime this time ...
  7. Yep, pretty cool CG trailer ... I think it got a lot of TR fans in a tizzy that Lara would say goodbye to her mansion like that Of course, I'd always take these trailers with a grain of salt, as usually what shows up in the trailer may not actually be in the game. Funny how Lara forgot to take her Desert Eagles with her. Rocky, is Black Knight a UK reference?
  8. Games for Windows Live multiplayer matching service (i.e. the PC version of Xbox Live) is now free. http://www.gamesforwindows.com/en-US/Live/.../AboutLive.aspx Maybe it's because no one was actually using it ... Case in point: Hardly any popular MP PC games use this service, and I actually tried it once with Halo 2 PC last year (had 1 month free with the same gamertag as my Xbox Live account) and haven't signed on since.
  9. Yeah, my last 3 builds all had Lian-Li cases. They are super sweet with the brushed aluminum and just "feel" nice as all the parts just slide (yeah, I said slide, not fit haha) together so well. Do they still sell those PC70's with the 2 80mm fan squares on the front? I actually like that design (although I usually unplug 1 or both intake fans if they are too noisy) I thought they all moved to the big 120mm square on the front (my last two PC60B's had that design) ... have to check the website I guess
  10. More news about the cancelled announcement: http://www.gamespot.com/news/6194658.html?...ewstop;title;11 My guess is M$ thinks there's no point revealing this game if the game won't be out by the all-important Christmas sales season this year. So .... any bets for a fall 2009 release?
  11. Sorry to hear about your troubles, but I know the BFS website/forums is in good hands Keep up the great work and see you over there!
  12. Hmm ... http://www.gamespot.com/news/show_blog_ent...pic_id=26483669 Sounds like a winner. Now we know what Serellan is working on ...
  13. Well, I finally got the game and finished SP mode, and now checking out MP. Hope to join in one of these weekends (and get my butt kicked)
  14. Just want to mention I've been using Foxit reader for a year now and found it is excellent. Adobe Reader has been major bloatware the last couple versions. Case in point: even though Reader 9 has been pared down to 30+MB, Foxit is still way slimmer and faster at just 2.5 MB and does most of what you'd want a PDF reader to do. So this begs the question why does Adobe Reader file size need to be 10x larger? Maybe it's all the things it's doing in the background that you don't need/want it to like the irritating Adobe 6(?) that installed an eBooks folder without asking?
  15. Just watched vid#3 and very interesting to hear Bo's comments on the how Japanese style of development is so different, and they trust and respect the developers's own creativity and initiative. Must be a big difference from working for Ubi.
  16. LOL, that reminds me I didn't finish reading Brave New World because it was so tedious, so yup I just read the Cliff's notes to make sense of the whole thing.
  17. I'm not a big sci-fi guy, so I'm surprised I have read 3 of them, two of which were required reading for me in high-school (Animal Farm and Brave New World)
  18. What kind of video connection are you using? S-Video, HDMI etc
  19. Yep, that's the same router I have sitting in a box in my office. Did you get it brand-new or used? Don't worry if you don't have the CD - you don't need to use it. Glad you found how to hard-reset the router - http://192.168.1.1/ works for ALL linksys routers to login to the firmware (just like how http://192.168.0.1/ is the universal URL for D-Link routers) Before you go on, make sure you don't need to register the MAC address of your router with your ISP. That was the main problem with my home router - my ADSL provider only lets me register 2 MAC addresses. However, my cable provider
  20. Whoa, I thought Nvidia just released their 9xxx series in April, and now they've come out with an even faster chip - the GTX 280. Short lifespan for the 9xxx generation (unless they plan to make their 9600GT their new "low-end card") And after eating Nvidia's dust for the last year or more, it looks like ATI/AMD is back in the game with their HD 4800 series. Lots of favorable reviews today. So ... anyone want to upgrade their 8800? Hehe
  21. My best advice is to go out and try a D-Link router. I personally own a Linksys Wireless G router and I had a tough time configuring it, and it still drops several times a month. I have a Linksys-N router at work (yes, the one where the desktop Wireless adapter has 3 wires to a funny looking antenna that looks like a TIE fighter and takes up room on your desk) After 2 weeks I decided to put back in the box and go back to a hard-wired router because of constant dropping or the SSID not showing up. I've installed 4-5 D-Links for several friends and offices, and have had NO problems. You
  22. Hope the patch adds native 1680x1050 widescreen support! My BF2 soldiers all look a little chunky ...
  23. AMAZING! I thought EA left BF2 for the dead once BF2152 came out. Very impressive. I wonder what the numbers are for players of the game. May need to reinstall it again just to check out the new maps
  24. Funny, last Nvidia drivers were also numberd "175" but were 175.16 Perhaps just some minor changes? Strange they decided to go through WHQL for a minor upgrade?
  25. Duke Nukem Forever?
