  1. Me want BIG gun with BIG rounds who causes BIG wounds and creates BIG piles of dead people....

Well tollen this is one thing that I can honestly say I agree 100% on. The bigger the better. You know the old southern saying....(with my best southern accent) If ya'll can't run with the big dogs you best be staying on the porch!

  2. Can anyone tell me if you can modify the original GR maps using IGOR only? If so is there a manual or tute that I could get my hands on? I can't seem to find the IGOR manual from RSE.

The US has never failed, as far as I know, to come to the aid of any free democratic country. Hey for a novel example, just ask France. Not only did we, like many other countries at the time, come not only to the aid of France but many other european nations during the early 40's but also early on in the 1900's. And then again the French asked the US for help in Vietnam. Once we were there the French bailed on their own colony. That's right Vietam was a colony of France.

As far as Taiwan goes, you can bet that the US will not stand idly by while some communist country invades a free one. And as far as South Korea goes, those who say that the US meddles too much need to remember that the Korean Conflict was under UN control. So it will not only be the responsibilty of the US but of all members of the UN to defend South Korea if the North decides to fullfil it's dreams.

And once again 300mag is right, with a noteable exception, (the only one I can think of at the moment) is Guam. The last time I checked the US rarely exceeded it's own territory beyond it's own border.

  4. I sometimes can't help but wonder if the countries crying the most about the US's policy abroad are not the same countries with grander designs? Could it be that countries like China and North Korea, for example, would love to see the US stop getting involved in other people's buisness long enough that they could expand their own borders? How many countries would be "annexed" if countries like the UK and US just minded their own buisness while countries like France and Russia said things like "dont do that" or "can't we all just get along?"

  5. First off I don't think anyone, who has served in the military whether having been under fire or not, wants to see a war. I for one, dispite the nickname I use, do not want to see wars of any kind. However, I feel that we as a society and indeed a world are sometimes left with no alternative.

To those that point to the 12 year gap of leadership and say "what happened" I would say you only have to look at who our president was for 2/3's of that time. It's unfortunate that this has fallen into President Bush's lap but since it's there at least he has the courage to deal with it.

If we wait another 12 years under the guise of containment the monster we will surely face then will take lives on an unprecendented scale. Don't forget your history. People thought that containment and appeasement would stop Hitler. Those misquided concepts lead us to a second world war.

  6. For those who got to see Colin Powel today at the UN I think we can say that the UN is nearing a deadline of it's own. Will it continue to be a place for the countries of the world to meet and attempt to work out their differences? Or will it become a chapter in history that will be talked about in the future and compared to the former League of Nations? Iraq may be standing at the edge of a cliff but so is the UN.

To those who say give us proof, what more do you need? If you didn't get to see it Colin Powels speech is posted on the US State Department's web site as well as on CNN's website.

When I made mention of some Arab people not hating the US and used Kuwait to emphasize my point I had in the forefront of my mind serveral interviews conducted by a CNN Corespondent, who's name fails me at the moment, in Kuwait City's fish market. There he not only interviewed Kuwaiti citizens, who for obvious reasons are still very thankful to the US and it's coalition partners of 1991, but also a Lebonese (forgive me if I have mispelled that) woman and an Egyptian man. All of whom said that they not only support what the US is doing now but have no quarrel with the US or it's allies.

I am not so naive as to think that this should be an indication of the whole Arab world. However, not everyone on the "Arab street" hates the US. The ones that do simply garner more media attention. It's the old saying of "the squeaking wheel gets the oil" syndrome.

  8. @Sgt. Crocodile:

As far as to your question about the Islamic world hating the US. That is not true. Kuwait does not hate the US for one example. Secondly the people who claim to follow the religion of Islam and claim to hate the US. Their disklike for the US comes from the US's policy toward Israel. And this hatred is not limited to the US. It is extended to anyone who backs Israel. Additionally some groups like Al-Queada (I know that is not spelled correctly) also dislike the fact that there are Americian forces stationed in Saudi Arabia.

As far as why should we attack Iraq when we will only talk to North Korea? Ask me that question again after we have spent 12 years trying to get NK to end it's nuclear weapons program by passing numerous UN security resolutions and constantly have diplomatic negotations with them. Like we have done with Iraq. Additionally, I believe it is UN sercurity council resolution 671, Iraq agreed to certain cease fire conditions in 1991. It then went about violating every last one of those conditions.

    @300Mag

Once again you have spoken most eloquantly.

  9. I too find myself agreeing with 300mag. The UN, as I remember from my history, was founded on a basic and guiding principle. Over the decades it has gotton away from that principle. Now it seems that if a country elects to protect itself against the UN's wishes they are criticised for it. It seems to me that the countries that are the stongest opponents to the current crisis with Iraq are the very same countries that look to the US for monetary help the quickest. I won't even begin to mention France who has had the help of not only the rest of the free world but the US twice in repelling an invasion of it's country. Does this not strike others odd too?

  10. It's about setting the velocity and all that so it got enough kill energy in all the rounds together. And not in each pellet. Takes some testing to get it the way you want it.

I too would love to know how you do that. As would many others I think.

  11. In fact I didn't make any reference as to why the US left the League of Nations (cause I honestly don't know why). What I was saying is that, because the US left the LN the LN became weakened, and as a consequence, when the time came to show some muscle, the US weren't there to provide it.

humm... ok. No one here is sliencing anyone. No one here is attacking the US. No one here is attacking the US government (my opinions of Bush do not change the fact that I do agree with the US government in most things).

People are just expressing their opinion about a very touchy subject. That is all.

When I said that the US was not the only country to leave the LN what I meant was is that the LN didn't become weak by the US leaving. Also what I meant by the misconception at the time was the prevailing attitude of countries prior to Sept. 1939 was to avoid war at all cost even if it meant giving into Hitler. This was not just the attitude of the US but of Britian and France just to name a few. So there was enough blame to go around for the start of WWII.

Ok now on the second point, maybe I am reading too much into this but here is a cut and paste of the last thing that wicked weasel said.

"Take direct assault against my country????? Bush is a morron???"

"Thats pretty sad of you. No need for me to come back here and voice opinions to those in here. I'll stick to the fantasy sections of these forums. "

If he doesn't feel a need to come back to voice his opinions because he feels insulted that people are "taking a direct assualt at my country" or "Bush is a ######" that is one thing. And as I said he needs to get use to it. Which maybe is an even less polite or useful statement. Because if that is someone's opinion, yours mine or whoever doesn't matter, then those who feel that way are intitled to voice it. But if that is not the reason then I think that becomes another matter altogether.

I agree that people are expressing their opinion about a very touchy subject. Invariably someone's feelings are going to get hurt. But true freedom of speech is about hearing all sides. If I have misinterpreted anything you have said then I apologize. I know what it's like to be misquoted or have something you say misinterpreted. I also want to apologize if I strayed a little off of the subject.

  12. @TRC Thank you for your eloquent post. I had looked to this section before and had seen some of the comments put here and was in the process of putting together a response of my own. I like you, do not accept the argument that President Bush is a ######. If people want to try and use quotes to prove that point then they are looking in the wrong place for proof. I have yet to see a President or Vice-President yet, Democrat or Republician, who hasn't said something that was either incorrect or simply mistated only to have it come back to haunt them later. It is easy to call someone a ###### for things they say. It is much harder to take an opossing stand on an issue and back it up with facts.

However in defence of Pyro Monty, if his profile is acurate, then at the age of 16 he has yet had the oppertunities to have the life experiances of either you or me. He certianatly, Pryro I am not trying to attack you here either, hasn't had a chance yet to gain the education to see some of the correlations between the UN of today and the League of Nations of days gone by as an example. I am also not saying that I have all the answers either but I feel if you are going to condemn the job that the President is doing, which is the God given right of any person who is truely free, then do so with facts. Put the facts out and lets us have an honest good natured debate.

@Yodasplat, I am still researching some of things you said about the US and it's relationship with the League of Nations and that relationships affect on the events leading up to the second world war. However, I do know that the US was not the only country to pull from the League of Nations. I also know that the US was not the only country who at the time believed in the misconception of "peace at any cost" instead of "peace at all cost" Mr. Chamberlin, the then Prime Minister of England, was also one of the world leaders who felt that Hitler could be pacified. But rather than retype out what I have already posted on this subject once before I would direct those who are interested to my post on Winston Churchill in the "General Off Topic Posts" thread.

As you can see also that the posts that you and Pyro put on here to wicked weasel have already had the effect of silencing one voice. While I would say that he/she, just in case I wouldn't want to offend anyone, does need to understand that the US will always come under attack by many because of what they do, he does need to remember that several of those nations that now condemn the US have either in the past or will in the future find themselves asking for help from the US. I for one as a US citizen am proud of the US and what it stands for. If the US upsets some others feelings in the world in the process of protecting not only it's interests abroad but freedom as a whole, then I say to those who are offended, get over it. You have the freedom today to gripe and complain because of sacrifices made by not only the US but other freedom loving nations in the world.

I am sorry if I have offended anyone but I for one am getting a little tired of people putting down President Bush for doing a job that many are not qualified to do or, like me, would not want to do. And no I don't always agree with everything that President Bush does. I just hope that when those feel it necessary to do so would do so with facts and blatent policy errors. Not his quotes on this subject or that.

  13. This was my post on the "Pinned-Breaking News Shuttle Down" Thread. I repeat it here in response to your post. As a side note not all of the members of Columbia were civilians.

As many have already said it is a sad day. Certaintly no one is going to feel this loss more than the families themselves. Watching the newsclips I couldn't help but feel my own since of loss as I have always considered those that were and still do wear a military uniform my brothers and sisters. Those of us that have served in the military know about the special bond that develops between each other and it is indeed sorrowful when we loose one of our own. To the spirits of the crew of Columbia from this former sailor, may you find a strong wind at your backs and a following sea for you will always have a star to navigate by.

  15. @snakebite1967 No one who loves freedom ever really wants bloodshed but as I am sure you understand sometimes it is necessary. It's unfortunate too but all to often those who impose tyranny only understand bloodshed. I think this is something that wasn't even lost on the honourable Sir Winston Churchill. Like you I don't really want to see the pics of dead civies or any of my bothers and sisters in arms (whether Americian, British, or anyone else in uniform), but if it comes to that then it's on Saddam's head.

It is always with great trepadation that I talk about war. To understand the basic fundamental principle of freedom however is to understand that one day it may be threatened. And when it is threatened we as a people must stand up and say without hesistation STOP! Like many that went before me I believe that at the end of the day freedom and liberty are ideas worth fighting for. Freedom and Liberty are more than just words. They should be a way of life for all. Never to be taken for granted and most importantly never abused.

  16. I do think that he needs to be removed from power

the only problem with that is, will the next guy be worse than Saddam? But still without a doubt he should be removed, but what to do after that??

  17. Rappelling is a faster way of inserting troops as opposed to fast roping as operators descend almost at the same time.

I don't think speed of descent isnt the issue here. Its about how fast you can get off the rope. rapelling means you have to unhook yourself. Fastroping means you just let go of it.

  18. I was playing around with the numbers in the M82barrett.gun file, imagine that, trying to see if I boost it's knockdown power. I know that IRL the slower a round travels, I.E. 900 fps for a .45, the more kenetic energy it delievers on impact. Which in turn relates to a weapons knockdown power. My question is does a person want to lower or raise the velocity numbers in this file to achieve this effect? Am I even in the right area given how Red Storm has set up the game?

On another note, I was talking with Stalker_Zero last night giving him some of my other ideas for his community mod. It seems that while great attention has been given to giving great camo to the characters most of the sniper weapons have been ignored. Except of course for Ruin's great work with his Invisible Sniper Mod.

Unfortunately, I am very new at modding and therefore may not get my work done in time for the community mod that stalker helped to get started. May I suggest to anyone out there currently working on weapons try to include cammo for all the sniper weapons? Just a thought. I am trying to come up to speed as fast as I can on modding but I unfortunately can not make any promises on this.
