As far as I am concerned UBI has it's work cut out for them if they want to win back this customer. This has gone on for too long with too little to show for it. After my last trip down UBI's road of promises, RE: Harpoon4, and seeing others go down it as well, RE: RvS, promises and words of "trust us" carry little weight with me. I certainly hope that this time maybe they can see it in their "good graces" to maybe take care of the PC market first this time. That will be a step in the right direction for me. I still have the same expectations as before and now having had the chance to experience a real FPS tactical sim (that's simulation as in not a game) I can honestly say they have really got their work cut out for them. It is truely possible to cater to all platforms, from the low end to high end machines and still deliver a quality product. So the excuses they used with Harpoon 4 will fall on deaf ears with me, at least, this time. No matter what others want to say or how they want to feel it was the PC community that gave Ghost Recon it's jump start and then kept it alive through the modding community. To forget this or minimize it is not only an injustice but a blatent slap in the face of those that started with the original. What I will say is that it's up to UBI to prove people like me wrong and I hope they do it. Either way it makes little difference to me at this point because I have found my replacement to Ghost Recon and all future UBI games should they drop the ball this time.

@Gordo
So I take it you don't need that "special" pic of your AAR from this mission anymore?

As seen on my fireplace mantel.

Ok so maybe they aren't exactly knives. But still nice to have around the house. Especially since owning a firearm around here would be like me having kids.

Well guess what the liberals that are here in Canada are not that much different than those in the states. I think the ones in the states look at the Canadian Liberals as their role models.

@Old_Geezer

Now see if that was really a redneck child the Glock would have been in a hip holster and he would have had his trusty Remmington 870 slung along the side of his chopper. Damn Liberals don't know the difference between a hood and redneck. Jeeze!!!

Knife's from rooftops? That just forces people to get closer. Again if the intent is there the number of tools to get the job done is astounding. Consider what a Amonium Nitrate and Diesel Fuel will do. In large quantities it can almost wipe out an entire town. Corpis Cristie TX I believe almost befell to this fate in the early 1900's. If memory serves me correctly. But my point isn't quite that grand. Firearms are just one tool those who are miswired carbon units use. Take that away from them, in this utopia of a world some live in, and they will just find another way to carry out their madness.

What you are going to find is that those who want to ban guns will never lay the blame at the one responsible. The intentionally disregard the fact that even a loaded firearm sitting on a table is not dangerous. It isn't dangerous even when picked up. It takes human interaction to cause bodily harm with one. Which indicates either intent or negligence. Either of which can be criminal in and of itself. You do make a vaild point though. One intent on doing such a thing will find a means by which to carry out their desire even if it means using a club of some type or knife for example. By banning guns you are only take one of many, and I do mean many, tools by which people can take another life with.

@Hotshot
Thanks. I find the keyboard+mosue far easier to fly planes with though.You and I need to talk then. I can't keep fixed wing aircraft in the air and right side up, at the sametime, with a mouse and keyboard. I can however keep them upside down and on the ground, at the sametime, with no problem.

And when you look at just the numbers of people that visit here I would venture to say that 5 out of 8,141 registered members I would imagine that the numbers are pretty close to being similiar with families in the US as well. In that you will have a small minority of people, in comparison, who actually still know and believe that the "old ways" of doing things do work. Whether it's tabasco sauce or a bar of soap for swearing, or warm ass for being disrepectful to any adult or what the case maybe you didn't see this kind of trouble when I was younger.
A comedian once said, considering there is always a bit of truth in good humour it's pretty spot on, "we didn't have stupid kids when I was young" "Not for long at least because we had games like Yard Darts".
Games were not regulated. Cowboys and Indians was ok to play because no one considered it "politically incorrect". We didn't have to go around killing classmates because we were too busy pretending to playing "army".
A friend of mine hid a playboy magazine he stole from his brother in a neighbours garage. He was found out in about 4 hours. 4 hours later and we didn't see him for two weeks because he was grounded and unlikely able to sit down either. Don't know what happened to the brother. Though never saw his car again.

Call me an optimist but I think GR2 PC is still coming out, I think it is going to be something special.....why else would there be all the secrecy??
It was confirmed that it was in development, why would they just cease development? wouldn't they be taking a loss with that scenario too? It has been confirmed that it is not a port too. I think we should focus on the facts, few as they may be.
I think it is coming out and it is going to be different then the console versions and the wait will have been worth it. Just my two cents.
Going against my better judgement here I do have one thing to say in response to a point you bring up.
It was confirmed that it was in development, why would they just cease development? wouldn't they be taking a loss with that scenario too?Do a little homework and research into a sim called Harpoon4. It was in "development" for 5+ years and UBI cancelled it. Screwing over the Harpoon community in the short run anyways.

While I think I understand where you are going with this comment:
I bet right now, I could go to the movies and go to any R rated movie and find it full of underage kids (you have to be 17 or with a parent or guardian). Where are the parents or guardians?This is technically not suppose to be happening anyways. Legal or not it was the time when people at the box office required proof of those who they thought were not old enough. Correct me if I am wrong but is this not still the case today? Isn't this already required by law? Passing a law such as this will do nothing except create more red tape. If a game is rated M or 17+ or whatever, why do we need laws to regulate it? It's not going to help and if you look at some the other things in society that are suppose to be regulated by law, IE Cigerettes and alcohol to name two, it doesn't stop minors from obtaining said items.
I do whole heartedly agree with you though on one point. Today, and to an extent in my later years as a kid, parents were trading TV and other sources to occupy their kids rather than taking an active role in their childs life. I just happened to be one of those kids whose parents were all up in my buisness.
Which in hind sight was a good thing. If parents would only, and if one political side in the US, would just allow them to, parent the way it used to be I would be willing to bet we would see less problems in our communities with kids and even some adults. You can not legislate morals or responsibilty. People will either have those two things or they won't. Both can be taught but it's not the government's place to do so.I also agree with Rook. These games will not make someone more prone to violence anymore than kids are likely to go around dropping anvil's on each other's head just because they watched the Road Runner do it to the Coyete on any given Saturday morning.

So far I've seen only two people even remotely qualified to handle a US Marine post here. Isn't that right Nightcrawler.

The community as a whole is top notch. It is by far one the best communities I have been a part of. I wouldn't class it as a large one though. It's certianly not small but then again the price of the sim keeps the size of the community to the level it's at. Trust me though it's money well spent. As far as playing on empty servers, it's seems about an even distribution of people hosting privately and those running dedi servers such as RSI. More Dedicated servers are going to be coming online in the coming year to if what I am hearing is correct.
The gameplay is what you make of it. Most people I have run the sim with have run it without respawns. When one of our members host's a game we will turn on a respawn or two if it's a small group, IE 2 or 3 people playing, then turn them off when more show up. I will say this. I can't count the number of times I gotten burned trying to do something in VBS like I use to do in GR. The AI is pretty good. You quickly learn that, that one guy you just saw running off in the distance is going to be back. With friends. You just don't know from which direction they are coming from. Just as an example.

Look at it this way though NC when someone doesn't it gives us all something to laugh about other than me turning myself into a Lawn Dart.
Or someone complaining about me being to slow on the main gun.

I would venture to say with what we have seen in VBS, [OFP: DR] is going to be the next one to beat wouldn't you? When you consider AI intelligence, map size and realism factors.
