  1. there are a few reserve component attack battalions still using them, although at a very small rate. the AH-1s we are flying here in missouri have the same 3 barrel cannon you are talking about. also the birds in use/maintanence at CCAD (Corpus Christi Army Depot) all coming from active army units have the same weapon system, a 3 barrel cannon. im guessing they must have ditched the earlier cannon config some years ago, i've never seen an Army AH-1 a 6 barrel setup.

  2. You may want to reread what I wrote. The Corps version of the Snake has always used the three barreled 20MM nose gun.

You are correct in that the Army was the first to use the Snake, but the Marines saw a capable platform and had it reworked for themselves with the cannon and twin engines to the Army's single engine bird. The Marines are the only service branch to keep using it.

i didn't know we were talking about engines. i was actually referring to the statement saying "only the marines have used this weapon" in reference to the 3 barrel mini-gun. and you are correct, we Army folks still fly the single powerplant birds ;)

If you look at this pic of the front end of a Snake, you will see a 3 barrel version of the M61 Vulcan 20mm cannon used on fighter aircraft. Only the Marines have used this weapon on their Cobras. The Army used a 6 barrel minigun in 7.62mm.

perhaps in the past but not now. the AH-1 in use today uses the same 3 barrel cannon. and to further clarify, the Army was the 1st branch to commission the Cobra, not the Corp.

  4. I am guessing you mean in 1993-1994 Somalia Mission. If so...

might want to take a look here www.bhd93.com and ask the wives of those killed in Action if they would like it if you made a mod out of their husbands sacrifices.

really doesnt make a whole lot of sense. if you don't like it, don't play it ;) .

  5. a huge thanks to Alpha Squad for creating such an awesome experience. all of us in the tactical co-op dont get the respect we so much deserve (console designers :wall: ), its an honor to be in the company of such classy people who push the envelope, all the while showing us all how the game was meant to be played :devil: .

    thanks a million Alpha Squad.

    respectfully,

  6. You know whats been ###### me off for awhile? Why do soldiers have to pay for their uniforms? At least why do they have to pay for the utilities? Thats ridiculous, as if it aint bad enough they get paid minimum wage in the first place, they have to pay for everything the army gives them. What next? Do they have to pay for their ammo and weapon, too?

soldiers also recieve a clothing allowance, to counter-balance what we have to spend... :rocky:

  7. Denial is a funny thing and the fact of the matter is that GR is dying out. Just cuz you're still playing it doesn't change that fact.

its kinda funny you make the statement GR is dead but it seems like almost every week, yet another new mod or campaign is being released. how could it be dead...? you might wanna check ubisoft.com's financial section to see what game came in 3rd place w/ most sales worldwide in 2003, almost 2 years after the date it was released, folks are still buying it.

that's a nice quote you said about denial. it goes both ways: just because you quit playing GR, doesnt mean it's dying out.

  8. If i buy Ghost Recon: Gold Edition for the PC, do i have to pay to play it online? I am not familiar at all with the online play of GR, so any insight would be great. Thanks

my best advice for you regarding online play, is downloading a program called "All-Seeing Eye". it will show you different servers running and loads of other info about the diff. servers......or you could just install the ubi.com program that comes on the original GR disk & play the good 'ole fashioned way...
