Now we're all used to downloading demo's of games, and to be frank they are normally an invaluable way of deciding if a game is for you or not, and it appears we are getting used to them getting bigger (1gb demo's are now quite a regular occurrence).
But this one has got to be taking the proverbial !!
The Vanguard - Saga of Heroes demo has just been released on Fileplanet and it weighs in at a ridiculous... wait for it... 7 gigs... yep, thats right, 7gb, now i would start to worry if a fully installed, RETAIL release game required 7gb of HD space, let alone a demo

Your temps seem fine (my card can easily hit 80 on a warm day, usually hovering around 70 on a cool day).
To update your video card drivers you must first uninstall your current drivers. Do this by going to your control panel, add/remove programs, and look for Nvidia Display Driver or some such. Uninstall it, reboot, defrag, install 93.71 drivers, reboot again, defrag, and you're good to go!
I would personally say your missing a big stage out if you want a COMPLETE reinstall of gfx drivers.
See HERE
I would highly recommend running something like Driver Cleane Pro after you uninstall the NVidia software from windows.

Your right....doh! Not thinking straight after being awake the last 29 hours

Lol, I'm not normally thinking at all after 29 hours straight

I must admit, I'm pretty much with NYR on this one. The graphics are ok, some bits are
then others are
but there's just something missing for me.It's something I would probably buy once the price drops for the odd game if other people I know are playing it.

All the Freespace 2 mods look good, especially Battlestar Galactica

21st... 11am... no demo as yet

17:00 GMT release apparently

Both of the above statements are correct in a technical sense of the word. BUT and its a big BUT.
A product was released as a full, ready, commercially viable item at FULL price to the public. It was not released with a big sticker on it saying "Hey we tried to fix everything but whatever, no time, buy it at your own risk". We were not given the option to pay for it on a pro rata basis (ie a percentage now and we will pay the rest as you fix it).
The TIME excuse is starting to wear thin in the PC gaming industry now. If it's not ready then don't release it, but that's not the way it works is it? No...
The publisher want's their money back, as soon as possible and to hell with the gamer so they can move on to the next title and grab more cash.
Yeah things are more complex nowadays, but then the tools to produce those complex things are now available when they weren't before. So that argument is actually self negating.
It comes down to this in the end, a product was released to the public that was NOT finished. At least GRIN actually admit this and have endevoured to rectify it to some extent, but please don't use the TIME excuse as if this makes it all ok because to be frank I think most of us are getting sick of hearing this from the entire industry.

This is a demo Ive been waiting for

Mind you I think GRAW2 will blow this away when it arrives

So you reckon GR:AW 2 will allow as many people to play together in Co-op? Or cover as huge a landscape? Or allow modding to the extent of ArmA? Or...Or...Or?
I think you may be living in some kind of dreamworld tbh Calius. As someone said in the GR:AW forum, GR:AW was a mess on release and the excuse was TIME allowed for development yet the gap between GR:AW and GR:AW 2 is a quarter of that amount which would indicate GR:AW 2 is basically an expansion of GR:AW.
If this is the case then I don't see it blowing anything out of the water seeing as it couldn't even beat it's Great Great Grandfather (GR1).

Just logged into Fileplanet and they are pre reserving the ARMA Demo so it must be pretty imminent.
ArmA Demo Coming Soon!
Subscribers can reserve the ArmA demo. get ready for fully open environments, immersive exploration and strategic combat in this FPS!
Just thought I'd let people know

I just got into airsoft myself. Got a Chinese made S-System (M4 RAS) that was tweaked by the seller. Shoots about 450ish fps using .2s. Also got myself a 1911 gas blow back for a real good price, as it's second hand.
AEGs are pretty cool. Gets you exercising and stuff...until the real rich people come with their expensive kit...then you'd feel a bit down-to-earth...until you find out that they cry out if hit as well as the next guy.
Be careful, some Airsoft sites will not let you use 'Tweaked' guns.
A good store is Wolf Armouries
And some good sites are Here
I love this place, take a look at the piccies on the site. Urban Assault

Personally, after playing the 360 version of GR:AW I for one would prefer a direct port from the 360 than the version we got from GRIN.
This is not a bash at them because they did the job required of them by UBI's constraints.
Taking the stance that GR:AW is NOT GR2 but a completely different game then out of the PC or 360 version, the 360 is more fun to play, runs better and has better MP options.
-
Well. No, they don't support full out modding as the game wasn't made to be modded.
It should have been. Why would they want to make a product that wasn't able to mod when that is what the consumer expected?
I think you may find the answer to that question Here
I personally think Wolfsong's explaination is probably the nearest to the truth. As much as I think it's wrong, and a let down to loyal GR followers GR:AW was never going to be moddable (hell it's only just MP enabled) and any moddability you have is from GRIN's help here at GRNET and assistance off their own back not UBI's orders.
If it wasn't for GRIN employees turning up here and assisting, then modding would be a long way off what it is now even though that is far from ideal.

Count me in

We are talking SP with no AI teammates right, so just you alone to complete the missions?
If so then count me in

The demo didn't work for me. A file was missing but now when you say it's not good I guess I can skip downloading it again

That is probably a DX file missing and I'm assuming you chose NO when asked about installing DirectX at the end of the game install.
It seems to be the trend atm for every game you install to need to update DirectX and if you don't then it says there is a file missing when you try to start the game.

Original GR1 type mission based Co-op with 16 players minimum and multiple options available from a GR1 type Lobby that allows pre mission planning and chat.
What would the fun in that be? The purpose of a ghost team is to be SMALL and lethal. It's not a squadron game, neithter was [GR], just team size (4-6 people).
Ever play GR1?
Yes. Since the first week it was out in November 2001. I'm one of the few true [GR] veterans still around.
Coop is best in small teams. Otherwise you'd need 300-400 enemies on a map and that's just waisting resources and not what the original game was about. I can accept up to 8 people in a team. Over that is unrealisitic for a covert unit.
I agree with the RL theory but in practice (and I can only state what I have experienced and talked about with other Co-op players) the 9 player limit in GR1 was a major sticking point with the Co-op community hence the Community mod that allowed many more.
The amount of human players does not automatically dictate the amount of enemy needed.
Yes I agree, if you want to firefight or go run and gun through a mission then 16 people are gonna need a whole host of opfor to kill, but believe me, as AS proved, a few, and i mean FEW, well placed enemy on a good scripted mission can wipe out an entire team (9 players) if not played right.
Three 4 man teams on some maps and missions is an ideal number as this allows you to cover all eventualities and do simultaneous objectives without the linear, do this, then that, then that, then extract scenarios.

Now I can fully understand the need to keep the terrorists out of our armed services but what my father had as a last meal before he died surely has no bearing on whether I strap on 3lb's of Semtex and decide to end it all in a spectacular manner does it

Only kiddin, but jeez you would have thought they could have figured out how to transpose the information from the Application form over to the Security Check form, or vise versa

Man, just completing these things should count as 90% of your SAT
I have 2 dead parents that I have had nothing to do with since the age of 15 (27 years ago) and they want mothers maiden name and birthdays etc

The only thing i wonder is just how many people 505 will have left to sell to.
I mean, nowadays, in the age of the Internet whats to stop people buying the already released German or Czech versions which I hear people are already converting to English.
I know quite a few people that won't wait until February

We gonna get some IP's and details posted (mods req'd etc)?

This was a problem with the initial release (I had it myself) but was fixed in subsequent patches.
If your running 1.35 then you shouldn't have this problem.
