  1. WK is right, people need to calm down, I thought we were having a Mature debate on the 'possible' features in GR:AW.

Unfortunately with the 'Vague' Dev Chat answers, and lack of Demo and Video's for the PC market speculation and debate is going to be rife and that is purely why Forums like this are here.

Comments like "Go buy BF2" are neither constructive nor help to put your point of view across in a mature manner.

  2. I think the main issue most people have with the Cross-Com is not that it gives too much info or makes the game easier etc, etc it's purely that at certain times it seems more like your watching some sort of MTV video, there are boxes everywhere onscreen stopping you seeing the 'important' stuff like that OPFOR trying to drill ya a new one ;)

Also the Green and Red Diamonds seem more than annoying, one fact that winds me up about em from the screenshots shown is that I have this wonderful SLI GFX setup, can wind the drawdistance up to the max and what do I get, a nice small but detailed enemy model running across the street in the distance, or a beautifully modelled civilian cowering in the road ahead praying for rescue? Nope, I see a bloody Red or Green triangle that is bigger than the target and obscuring it.

Unfortunately these seem things we're going to have to live with as they are NOT going to be changable.

You may wonder how I seem to know the above... Easy... Pure logic.

Is the HUD going to be configurable? Asked at every Dev chat so far. Answer - The GAME will decide what details need to be shown = NO

Red and Green Diamond - Will they be togglable? Almost since the first screenshots appeared the 'Common' attitude has been "Hate em". Now if I was a developer that was going to release screenshots and it included an option that people hated but was easily turn off'able you reckon I would leave it on?

  3. Sometimes you just wish people would be honest... It isn't hard.

<RatoN> Will it be possible to customise the HUD’s interface before starting a game? If so, to what degree? ON/OFF, colours, size...

Ulf ] The HUD adapts itself to the situation, and shows you what you need to see.

Some parts become transparent when that info isn't currently needed.

In other words... Repeat after me... NO

See it wasn't that hard was it ;)

  4. For goodness sake, you people will load anything onto your machines, I spend all day dealing with people moaning their PC's are slow only to find 2000 instances of adware and 54 trojans ;)

Dai are you saying there is a problem with this software.????

We need to know if there is, and let Ubisoft know.

I'm sure there is no problem with this software at all, all I'm saying is that people will happily whinge about Starforce installing drivers on their system, moan about adware and popups then install useless, resource grabbing 'News' applets and then moan because their 'Ping' is crap etc. It just never ceases to amaze me the junk people will put on their PC's :wall:

  5. Nice post.  And copy your sentiments exactly.  It's been a long old road, but we're finally there and things are looking good, very good in fact from my eyes.

Must admit, I'll miss the old GR1 days and all the good times it gave me.  The best money I've spent in years, even if the wife would disagree.

My only thought is, Have you been playing a demo that I've missed Cob ;) cos tbh I agree that it's been a long ole road, and we are nearly there, but it aint looking like anything until I get my hands on a playable demo cos I've followed too many games that look fantastic in screenshots and play like XXXX ;)

  6. Ok seeing as I started the thread I think it's about time I replied.

First off, the 'Reality' card doesn't wash one way or another so I wish people would stop dredging it up, this is a 'Game' not 'Reality'. You want realism go join up.

Secondly I DO NOT want to be able to run along full pelt and throw grenades whilst jumping to get the extra bit of distance ala CS etc, but I also DO NOT want to have to stop dead in my tracks if I do happen to be moving as happens in GR at the moment.

I have played GR since it first came out and my fellow GRNET and TE squadmates can vouch for the fact that I am as far removed from a run and gunner as you can get but I would still like the option to be able to throw while at least dodging. If I am behind cover and throwing then I would like to be able to at least move about, not run, not jump but move. Before anyone spouts up about grenade accuracy, this should not effect accuracy greatly because if GR:AW follows the previous GR and most other FPS's then you will have to HOLD for power and LOB for distance which if anything will make moving whilst throwing a very dangerous thing to do, 'Realistic' huh ;)

  7. I hope this is changed in the PC version.

Talking of grenades, GRAW forces players to stand still when lobbing them. In an already slow-paced game, this 'enforced sitting duck' proves annoying. An appropriately skilled enemy has no trouble unloading a clip in your face before the pin hits the ground.
  8. I too have a couple of StarForce items where Spectre specified. They are Starforce Protection Environment Driver and a StarForce Protection Helper Driver, they must have came from the Lockdown demo because I don't have any other games installed on my computer at this time. Do I need to get rid of them?? If so, how?

The Lockdown Demo does not have Starforce protection, You say you have no other games installed at the MOMENT.

One of the nasty things about STARFORCE is that often you are not told it will install with a game but then when you remove or uninstall the game STARFORCE is NOT removed so basically the protection could be left over from a previous game.

You can safely remove them if you only have the Lockdown Demo installed as this will not stop you playing that.

  9. I've heard about this before.  So is there a chance I have this on my system without knowing about it?

Yes. Most games that have it mention copy protection and have you agree with it as you install. Could have been some games that didn't let you know at install.

You are soooo wrong there KRP 56.

This is the major argument against Starforce (apart from the random wierdness some people encounter). It does NOT ask you to confirm installation or give you the chance to say no, even some demo's come with it, Bet On Soldier being one of the recent ones.

    Easiest way to check.

Right click My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager. Click VIEW and select Show Hidden Devices, click the + by NON PLUG AND PLAY DEVICES, scroll down, If it is installed you will see a STARFORCE device.

  10. I plan to purchase a new system this month and DO NOT need this to crash my entire PC. anyhow, the website shows how to uninstall the starforce drivers through your my computer/hardware section that lists the hardware in your machine. You click the drivers and uninstall them to remove them.

StarForce as you say is easy enough to get rid of, there are even a couple of removal programs around one of which is supplied by the StarForce provider.

But be aware that if you remove it you ain't gonna be playing the game.

Now I have posted several times about Starforce and how much I hate it, and it HAS caused problems on my system and as for a 'Less Intrusive' version I personally think this is Bull. If they do use this 'Protection' then that may well be the thing that finally, after all these years, stops me playing GR :(

  11. A vote to find out the most popular gamestyle is fine but I don't see why people try to compare the different styles.

    They are poles apart.

I think people confuse the two sometimes but they are different. Co-Op in the normally accepted sense is a group of people playing against the AI in a scripted mission or firefight, it does NOT include RL opfor.

Team vs Team or Player vs Player is not what is normally recognised as Co-Op play, I'm not saying Teams don't cooperate just that's not the normally accepted use of the term Co-Op.

P v P or T v T has it's own merits and it's own rewards like knowing that all that practice and hard work was worth it and you defeated others like you in a contest of skill.

Not my prefered gametype (getting old and the old twitch is more a spasm now) but each to their own.

Co-op also has it's own rewards, getting together with a group of friends and trying that new mission, getting your ass handed to you by the scripter and then getting down to it, working out what ordinance you need, where you need to hit, having a backup plan, hitting simultaneous targets and completing the objectives.

Both are valid, both are enjoyable, I just hope GRIN have done us proud on BOTH.

  12. Sorry Colin, gotta disagree with ya, a 4 man max in online co-op would suck bigtime no matter how enjoyable the actual game.

The bit that makes the game enjoyable to me IS the fact that I can get 3, 4, 5, 8 of my online friends or teammates together and pound the living xxxx outta the AI.

You limit that to 4 and what? I turn up on a Tuesday at 20:00 say and our server already has you, Zero, Ape-X and NYR playing, no one else is around so I gotta sit around and hope one of you leaves or find someone else to join in with?

That happens too often and I start playing regularly with a few others, what then, I'm gonna drift away from GRNET. Only hypothetical but I still find it a concern.

4 limit is a crazy number no matter how they dress up the gameplay.

  13. All those options are going to be really great. I suspect that the one option that i really want in all shooter games won't be there though and that's the free choice fo wether i want to have tracers or not. The tyrany of tracers has always bugged me.

Tracers have two purpose that i know of, psychological surrpression of the enemy and fire direction with a possible third being to let the shooter know when the last couple of rounds are comming out (as stated by ex SAS guys).

I don't like the fact that because tracers look bright and colourful we are forced to use them.

Tracers are in game for a reason though Poita, and personally I think they are a necessity. Unfortunately, as lifelike as we would like a game to be we are still sitting in front of a screen and not everyone has the option of a 'Perfectly' set up surround sound system. Therefore, if you are pinned down or moving and having shots whistle past with 'NO' indication whatsoever of the direction you might as well just stand up and die, cos you have no idea where to even return 'random' fire to.

The human ear is an amazing piece of kit in the open under real life situations but this aint real life and given the option of a 'Threat indicator', tracers or nothing I would choose tracers every time.

  14. I really dislike BF2's system of artificially increasing the player attributes such as the unlocking more accurate weapons , just because someone has spent more time at it.

Exactly. Personally I would prefer they leave a Rank system out altogether rather than risk putting in a possible flawed system.

Let's just enjoy playing the game.

  15. One thing to beware is using weapons, models or basically ANYTHING from another mod when your doing your mission.

If you link to say an Enemy charactor or actor from HX5, when you send this to someone else if they don't have the required mod/map etc installed then they will CTD.

If your just making a standard mission using stock maps/weapons/skins etc then make sure NO mods are active in IGOR.

I think that may be your problem.
