When making a game, you always have to balance realism vs gameplay indication.
I'm not for throwing in a lot of "gimmickey" things just because Hollywood has made everybody believe that's how "it is", but if something is widely perceived as realistic and at the same time would fill a useful function in the game (the way a "click" sound indicates that you're out of ammo) I'm all for it.
Exactly, as much as realism is preffered, something like shooting a firearm is a unique experience, you 'feel' the trigger, you 'feel' the recoil through your body, the muzzle flash, the sound hits you, etc.
When you run out of rounds in RL, you know it, a thousand clues and signals tell you this. This cannot be replicated through a mouse and monitor so I personally welcome a clue such as an audible click. It's a fair trade off for all those tactile signals that are missing.

I do like the way it draws your eye in to the sights.
I don't. In fact, I don't like the way these scopes physically block out any of your field of vision. If I have an aimpoint up in front of me, I can see "through" the frame of the aimpoint because the frame only blocks one of my eyes, and my brain reconciles the two images.
If they want realism, these scopes should appear on the screen, but only at maybe 33% opacity.
Exactly.

The reality is that even with scopes at greater than 2X you use them with BOTH eyes open. Unless you are using magnifications that exceed 6X, you should always use them with both eyes open.
Whatever, I said I agreed with the realism points made, I just liked the aesthetic look of his screenshot. Jeez

I agree with the realism aspect as stated by Moak and Degamer... But unwritt3n's screenshot with the blur effect is kinda perty.
I do like the way it draws your eye in to the sights.

ColinThought you could dodge it huh

Can dual processors make you run faster or do any strange anomolies?
Someone who is running very fast online claims that to be the case.
I find wearing my grans Bi-Focal glasses while playing means I can run while zoomed in, and if I couple that with wearing my friends sons skateboard knee pads then for some reason I can slide around the whole map without standing up once

Seriously though m8, that is a total fallacy and if he was running fast then he was cheating, plain and simple, and using a ridiculace 'Dual Core' myth as a cover.

Er? How do you take screenies in GRAW? And where do the screenies end up? I have pressed every key combination but to no avail!

Fraps is the most commonly used method. There is no inbuilt Screenshot key in GR:AW unfortunately.

Have you unpacked the BUNDLE?
Just setting that line to true doesn't enable you to start editing.
To unpack the bundle you will need the prog from Here

Very nice m8, looks sweet.
Might have to do some GRNET skins

Download-session invalid. Please click here.
Possible reasons:
* Download-session expired. Direct-links last a few minutes for free users and a few days for premium-users.
* You requested this download-session from a different IP than yours. If you use AOL, try a different browser.

Lo m8, I would like to try it but any chance of hosting it somewhere that doesn't try to open 50,000 popups and then eventually come up with download session invalid

Ghostaholics mebbe, or speak to Rocky nicely and he may host it here

Erm Co-op isn't SP though so how would the saving work?
Shorter missions agreed, cut the intro's out etc sure but you couldn't save in [GR] and the reason being I don't see how it would work, you gonna ask your mates to come around and sit exactly where they were, lean the way they were leaning, get ready to run right cos remember a week ago that bloke was just about to shoot you?

I just installed Patch 1.10 and now when I click on the GRAW icon short cut the game does not start up. I tried going directly to the GRAW exe and starting it there ... still no joy.
Is anyone else having this problem?
I don't wish to offend, but you did download the correct version didn't you?
Download version is for people who got the game via Direct to Drive (Fileplanet etc)
Retail version is for the CD/DVD version.
-
I'm assuming you fools downloaded the wrong version, just like the last patch there is one for the retail version and one for the D3D version.
That's a bit strong my friend, even if they did download the wrong version calling people fools is a bit harsh

-
Before patching up to version 1.10 simply move the local and gui folders you created out of the GR:AW folder.
Once you have patched up simply move them back in again.

Ghost is a fanboi and refuses to believe anything is wrong with GRAW. It's best to just take him for what he is.
Please re-read my post mate
-
it could be that ubi pushed them to get it out before it was completed. The ones with the money often make the decision but have no idea how long it takes or even how anything works. I wouldn't put blame on anyone without knowing the full facts. I run into crap like this at my job constantly where some dumbass salesman promises something that isn't possible so we release something that is unfinished that we have to update constantly.
Ghost9
Your doing the exact polar opposite of what you are accusing others of doing in another thread, this is a lighthearted thread so far and doesn't need anyone jumping to GRIN's defence as noone is making any attacks.
I'm sorry if this offends you m8, it really is not my intention, i'm just sick of both ends of the spectrum spouting love or hate all over these forums.

Not being suspicious or anything, but I think I'll wait for a verified download

I played a few rounds in coop mp last night, i threw a couple grenades at mex jeep and the explosion looked and sounded about the same as in single player, good enough fx.
i'm not talking about coop. coop seems to be the same as SP. i'm talking about domination MP.
Oh okee dokee!!
The network speed settings seems to be what adjusts this. You lose some of the effects and other things in mp with a network setting of 512upload vs 1.5upload.
Well i have a 2MB broadband connection so my upload speeds will be 200k. My ISP is increasing speeds this june from 2MB to 4MB free of charge, i might pay the extra £ and go for 10MB? but i'm not sure realy what the difference will make when gaming online. So i guess you set the upload to whatever you have, because what's the point of setting say 512k upload if you only have say a 2MB broadband connection that is limited to 200k.
1MB = 100k
2MB = 200k
4MB = 400k
10MB = 512k
Hmmm, you on cable m8 cos they don't seem to be ADSL type speeds?

Nothing to do with patching

People have been unbundling the game files (basically like unzipping) and this leaves you with the entire structure of the game, folders, files etc.
On a slightly related note though, if you do unbundle your install then DON'T try to patch it as this may cause you problems

-
Where are all you people getting these ubi/Grin videos? Do make them then upload them?If you make them where are you getting the footage from?

Mebbe people click the Make a Movie button to the left of the movie their watching.

The bug where diamonds would show up for friendlies on your HUD, and stay locked in the centre(if you had them disabled) is fixed, yes.
Fantastic news, unfortunately I've already finished the single player but it effected Co-op too so it's all good

-
There is no LEVELS folder in my DATA folder
Just came across this, haha
Naughty GRIN! ...but then it might add to why your so keen to get us fixes done.
I aint complaining, this is too funny...
"Looks like they knew this game was broken when it was released. If you have extracted your bundle file, do this: open up explorer and go to your Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter\Data\levels\backdrop\ folder. Then find the world.xml file and open it up with notepad. Scroll down about 1/5th of the way and you will see a line that says:
<!-- effects! do not activate until the stuff is fixed! -->
LoL "
Bwahahah ......
