  1. @ Sleeper: I think you took that statement the wrong way and are trying to use it as fuel for another fire. By saying that these guys have no choice in whether they go or not was meant to explain why you have guys that are NG or Reserves over there doing jobs that they haven't been trained for or are not as highly trained as full time military. OF COURSE THEY AREN"T!!! These guys are nine to fivers who work on tanks for a living, or fuel trucks, or work in motor pools on their local bases. The do their drill and their summer camp and keep on keeping on. Now, because they are called t
  2. All of the above have had good points, but the point that you all are missing is that these guys don't have any choice in whether they are there or not. I live 10 minutes away from a Virginia National Guard base and the guys in the local unit were activated, they didn't choose to go. For the first time since WWII, this unit has been called up and put back into active federal service. None of them lost any rank, and truthfully, several of them have received promotions since being called up. The end result: 18-24 months over there whether you are full time, reserves, or national guard and
  3. That's funny, I don't care who ya are!!! Get 'er done!!
  4. Don't know about famous now, but my great uncle, Monty Kennedy, pitched for the New York Giants from 1946 to 1953. He pitched in games 4 and 5 of the 1951 World Series against the New York Yankees, who went on to win the championship that year. He had the opportunity to play with the likes of Willie Mays, who was a rookie in 1951, Mickey Mantle, Joe Dimaggio (his last year was 1951) and several others who are legends. C

  6. He's one of the brothers. He keeps $2, plus his one third of the $3 ($1) for a total of $3. That plus the one dollar a piece to the other two brothers equals the $5.
  7. IIRC, Mamon is also in Graduate School at VT, not undergraduate, which makes it a bigger accomplishment. While I would rather have my degree from the Bohunk Matrimonial College than VT, it is still a rather impressive feat. Congrats!!! P.S. WAHOO WA!!! GO CAVS!!!!
  8. @ budgie: See, I knew we agreed with each other, just had to debate the fact first....lol C
  9. @sync: I think we are done now...lol. You can close this up while the closings good... C
  10. Gotcha Sync... Agreed, it didn't need to be put online and add to the family's sorrow. It's not anything that anyone should ever have to see, or want to for that matter. @budgie: Again, all valid points. No issue with the facts of the matter, only problems with the results. Its not "many" strict Muslems that turn to extremist. Only the few. And it is those few that are to blame for the violence that takes place. Our soldiers that are over there will tell you that for the most part, the people of Iraq are glad that we are there, and are happy to have us rebuild their infrastructure
  11. I would imagine it was probably on the inside back cover right under the add for viagra. (read: well hidden inside). @budgie: I think the last part of your post supports my point. Of course we have interfered with things in the middle east. Our whole way of life revolves around those resources that are owned by those countries. The only "propping up" that I am aware of is that of Isreal, and without us they would have been over ran decades ago. So now, these militants take up the call to arms based on their shared religion with the oppressed Palistinian state and they decide that the
  12. It's not about what's right, it never has been. It's about what's fact. The facts are that on 9/11, 3000+ people died because the United States' political stances are not in alignment with their religious beliefs. 3000+ people died because the bad guys disagreed with political and religious philosophy. What makes it bad is that they can claim that their religion allows them to conduct these operations and people actually want to make excuses for them. Don't get me wrong, those prisoners in those prisons didn't deserve what has transpired, but I do find it hard to believe that the abuse wa
  13. Have to agree with Dilligas on this one, there is a reason why all of this made the world headlines. There is a method to the madness, and someone is pulling the strings. Who that is, who knows? Everyone here has made some good points about both sides of the issue, but let's face facts. Nothing's changed about the way our military (meaning the world's military) does business, the only difference is this time we get to see it up close and personal. My question to you guys is, do you really think that this is the first time that people have been embarrassed, humiliated, tortured, etc. to ge
  14. Yeah, VCU football is almost as good as Longwood's football program...lol
  15. We are really starting to put together a top-notch team and we are looking forward to some good battles in the future. If you want to be a part of a group with a real "team" atmosphere, stop by our website and drop Roco a line. Collector*AFZ*
  16. My DSL modem has built in router functions, as well as firewall functions. In order to host, I have to open the appropriate ports to let the others in...you might want to take a look at your modem directions/support and check that... Collector*AFZ*
  17. I have done my duty and added to the legend that is: SILENT NIGHT!!!
