I am having problems with crashing as well ( only with HX5 Red Sun). So I am waiting with baited breath to see how you get on. I played the first mission ( Seal) and saved a game a month ago but cannot get it to load now, even just a quick mission and not the save.
Will check back if when I fix it ( or not)
Ok I 'm back ( edited post) I disabled the master sound in GR options, disabled the eax sound and checked "alternate cache" and it WORKS again.
Your prob sounds like sound as well. You have a good system but having probs initialising the sound, so turn it all off and try and then enable just player sound ( not intro sound, or movie)
