US Forces secure major airbase and towns in Socrata

From Arnold Millen, GRNET News Network

US Forces yesterday have secured the main airbase in the north of the island of Socrata, and the Northern town of Al Rudbah on the outskirts of the airport.

Soldiers of the 101st Airborne were inserted by Blackhawk Helicopters and secured the airbase from the approaching forces, of whom little or nothing is known at this time. No other neighbouring country or terrorist organisation has claimed responsibility for the attack on the island located in the Gulf of Aden, and who's existance has passed the western world without much notice until these tragic and bloody events.

Enemy forces launched a major offensive against the US troops as the landed in the area, however the US forces sucessfully counter attacked to the south engaging the enemy in the town of Al Zerif just south of the airbase, and have secured their positions awaiting the arrival of additional troops from bases in Oman.

Sgt Ranger one of the first US forces to set foot on Socrata would release no details of US or civilian Casualties, but did state that a large number of an "unidentified enemy force" had been killed.

Pentagon spokeman Lt Col Hilugnada spoke at a press briefing stating they have no long term objectives at this time and are awaiting a UN Resolution regarding the current operation. He stated that the operations within the Socrata area had no been forseen, and that the US responded to a "un expected situation". He categorically denied that the US had "manufactured the situation", further stating that such allegations were "not helpful, and totally without any foundation of truth".

US Forces Advance Towards Central Socarta

From Arnold Millen, GRNET News Network

Building on the success of earlier operations, US forces have advanced south of their foothold airbase in Socarta and seized the strategic port of Dahaban from determined and well co-ordinated defence by enemy troops.

Utilising the additional men and armour which had been brought in by transport aircraft the soldiers of the 101st fought a bloody exchange with enemy forces who had the upper hand, and were apparently prepared for the advancing US troops.

During the exchange a number of US troops were hit my small arms fire, and shrapnel from grenades from the enemy positions, and a brief but intense firefight resulted in the core of the enemy forces either dead or retreating from the area.

Sgt Sartillies spoke to me once the port had been secured, stating "They knew we were coming, but we knew that they knew, and that they knew we knew they knew we knew. So it was all fairly straight forward from my point of view"

  2. Unless someone else (El Nino, Pave?) wants to one. My original thought was for each person who is participating in the campaign to have the opportunity to script a mission, doesn't have to be a big mission, just one that fits in the plot line. So they'll have to wait for me to work out mission three so they can follow on, if that makes sense?

  3. I spoke to 2nd Ranger about this last night as he and I were out on patrol.

    We decide on a map

We decide of a Strategic Scenario (e.g. Peace Keeping, Counter Terrorist Ops, etc)

We each of us script a mission for a specific part of the map, i.e a town, or forest section etc

Whilst each mission can be a stand alone, we don't proceed to the next mission till the other is complete. The scripter could even hold the mission until the previous one is complete.

*The WE is anyone who is interested in this, the more the merrier (and the longer the campaign :) )

Once the map is completed we move onto a new map and repeat. This is just an idea I had, so any thoughts about it are most welcome :)
