Hmmm, interesting way you compare the different kinds of players in GR.

I personally could care less about the replays. Id say stick it in if you can, but if anything needs to be sacrificed, this would be it.
BTW, if you actually talked to Bo, wouldnt you know what he does?
Anyway, just ask him directly to stick the replays in.

6)whatever else can be done to improve on the "tension factor" do it.(just brainstorming here, but I think it would be cool to able script an enemy AI to hold thier fire for an x amount of tme. Thought being that once a well hidden tango gets eyes on one tartget, chances are more targets will follow him.

1)coop with at least 9
2) A strong mission editor.
3)Server sided mission scripts. Id like to be able to play 10-20 different missions on the same map w/out having to download the same map 10-20x.
4)A strong mission editor (think igor not unreal)
5)coop with at least 9 players.

I hope "chapters" does not mean a bunch of lilttle maps tied together to give the illusion you are playing in one big map (a la HL2).
-
you guys are nuts! The difference would only be to swing the front of the barrel 1mm to the right(if not less), an since I wont be tring to aim with the sights and instead just goahead and use the ret, I'd rather Grin spend thier time fixing somthing like the "locked" text. eh just my 2 cents.

I personally like the FPWV. Its the same way I played RvS. While it did block more of the screen and obstruct more of the view, it felt more realistic. I do however find it funny that people are complaining about the angle of the gun not being just right. Does a milimeter to the left or right really matter?!

-
This is really looking great. I have to admit how surprised and pleased I am with the direction this game is going in.
Dito for me.
If I were to get picky, I'd like to see that "Locked" text not be so prominent. It reminds me of those old b-rated movies where everything was labled just incase the audience was dumb. Like a door marked, "secret lair", envelope marked "secret evidence" . I think a simple ret color change will sufice or at least reduce the text size and stick it to a corner or away from the middle of the screen. -
Remember, its Sandbox-like.
I personally assume it means it wont be a powerful mission editor like Igor, but instead a great all around moding tool for assets, maps, missions (primarily maps).
-
Considering FarCry is the "the easiest game to mod" , not enough mods are out. That being said, Im not so gloom and doom about the game, I assume there wont be server sided mission which sucks because we wont get 100s of missions, but if the gameplay for each map is over 1-2 hours, then maybe we wont need that many missions to keep us satisfied.
Gotta see the mod tools first before I judge.

And btw, why can we do replays 6 years ago but not now, and i dont buy the answer they gave about it being too much info. Maybe its because this is a ported Xbox game, and not writen for a PC from the ground up?

Grin has proven that this wont be a port. As far as anti cheating goes, Im sure someting is in the works as every game has, so Im not going to fret, especially since I pick the servers I play on carefully.

My main hope is that the 4-5 man coop limit was a decision based on maximizing performance for the majority. That would mean there is room for an unofficial patch or room to improve for the expansions.
-
I love all the info, Im definetly pumped about the game, enough so that this will be the first game i pre-order!
Only concern I have now is the modding features. Will there be server sided mission? how are maps made?
I can live w/o the most brillliant modding system, but I would hate to have to download an entire map especially if it's over 15-50 mbs just to play one mission. I would also like to see someething setup so we can prevent 50 versions of the same map floating around to the point where compatability issues will arise.

Loved the report WK! I liked what Bo had to say and Ive got no real complaint. He said all the right things and the few things that I dont like I can live with. (main thing being only a 5 man squad)
That being said, I was more interested in what YOU thought, and the specifics. What exaclty are you not liking, what are you enthusiastic about? What do you have hopes will change? Did you get to see the game in action, cutscenes, what?
I want more!!!

These are PC screens.
But I dont see the big deal, It seems to me like it was a compromise needed to suit the game. If the gun was aimed "correctly", It would block more of the screen, part of the hud, and flat out just not look as pretty. This is such a small detail that it just does not bug me. As long as the rets go where I want it to and it hits the target, Im good!

Im still curious about the lobby, we going to get a briefing for coop games, select loadouts, ect?
This game has definetly gone in the right direction.

Hell no, realistic or not, it defeats the challenging gameplay I came to love in GR1, not to mention its annoying.
-
NOPE, .... Im all hyped up whooping and hollering, then I cant help but wince when I see that damn red outline.
This is a perfect example of dumbing down a game, if a player cant figure out the guy shooting at him is an enemy, what makes you think a red outline is going to help, what reason is there to believe that guy can even put a cd disc into an x-box/PC?
Eh, my guess is there is some dev in Red Storm staring at a CD wondering which side is up.

if it is like the unreal editor or farcry level editor....
you will have plenty of tools to make missions.... and maps....
and if GRAW has a Map Download feature... ( join a server it downloads the map ) then thats all the Server sided stuff i could ask for.
now the ripp off part is if it doesn allow a mod to run with other mods (i.e farcry or raven shield)
OHHHHH I hope its not like Unreal editor. Sure we would have a ton of maps, but the scripting is limited! For all the complaining we make about wanting limited scripting, the most fun missions have a decent level of scripting (i.e. Alpha Tourney Missions, Jack57 mission, the list can go on forever but Ill just stop there). All I know is Unreal based missions suck for two reasons, you have to download an entire map to play one mission, and the scripting is limited to stick a guy here and maybe walk a path, but heavily rely on thier own AI(adjust properties to chane em up slightly).
Games like Swat4, Raven Shield, ummm other Ureal type game have a ton of maps but only one mission to play. Its the same mission over and over again which is to kill everything between point A-B which gets boring after a while. Being allowed to script the AI to act a certain way for certain reasons will allow for a TON of variety.
eh, here is hoping we get a decent Igor like tool!

Understood, but I see you as the skeptic of skeptics, and to me your comments of late have been encouraging. Unless it's a big swirve on your part (which I doubt). They give me a hope and optimism that I didn't have before you won your little contest.

In other words, bring out the report already so we can stop reading between the lines of everything you say!!

Not everyone is going to be 100% happy with the design of the game. But I for one could care less about 3rd person POV, I would only use it in observation mode anyway. The uniforms I could care lass about, they do look like the new gear in production for the army so if I was into realism I would prob dig them, and the weapons look good enough. I figure if I am too worried about how teammates look, if the weapons look like it has each bolt in place or not, then the game is not doing what its supose to, which is to immerse you into the gameplay and the situations it presents.

Oh SP games can render a decent amount of eye candy on open maps. I think FarCry is a perfect example of that. But to get the tactical gameplay we hope for an engine, on an open map, needs to render a massive amount for enviroment, also the AI, as well as the destructible objects. and continue to render them throughout the game. With urban maps, the engine can ignore rendering whats on another street if its impossible to see from the current location.
Of course Im just guessing and only a game dev can clarify. But in GR 1 you can see a significant improvment in frame rates in urban settings VS the wide open maps.

Thats true, especially since we wont see the potential of the card for a LOOOOOONG time to come. Game devs wont be exploiting the power of the card until the majority of gamers have the thing, until then, we'll get a half ass taste of it and mostly see only what computers without the card can see.
From what ive seen, the power of the card is INCREDIBLE!!!
