How long do people think it will be before Windows Vista will be a requirement for a game? So you go into the store, check the requirements, and it says Vista only, and that it will not work with XP?

Hey all, I'm thinking of writing an online address book in PHP + MySQL. I know there are a bunch out there but I just would like to write one for fun. What features do you think it should have? So far I have: -Search and Sort -export to PDF, HTML, SQL database file -login authentication -address, name, image of person, cell phone, email, etc. -edit entries Anything else?

I tried running the memtest86 off a Linux CD one time and I ran it overnight and it still wasn't finished. Does it ever actually finish or does it just keep checking it over and over again?

So, I tried the demo and I had stability issues. The graphics got all weird so I decided to hold off on this game until things get fixed up. Is it to the point now where it's stable? As long as we (the market) keep buying games, I don't see how it could die. Where there's a market, there's profit to be made, thus there are companies to fill this market. I think what the article is getting at is more the issue of PC Games versus Console games and how developers are having problems porting from one system to the other.

Yeah, some programs have the ability to "zero out" the hard drive, writing values over and over again on the hard drive. Unless you are super secret and have a bunch of financial stuff on your drive, I think this will probably be ok. But like Dannik said, if you are paranoid, destroy the drive.

Yeah, I was just playing through Swat 3 a little bit. It certainly is more realistic but there are some glitches here and there. The game was obviously great when it came out but the graphics and everything remind me of Rogue Spear a little. Swat 4 just seems a little more "exciting" to me, but that might be the graphics talking.

The graphics are really dated but it's got lots of weapons and much more detailed than Swat 4. I dunno, I like both. I'm a sucker for good graphics so I really like Swat 4.

The only issue I had was getting the Indeo codec installed but I found an installer online. Now I don't have any problems running it under XP.

I just reinstalled Swat 3 GOTY Edition. Are there any good mods out there?

The video card in the new Dell system you are looking at is really not that great for gaming. Most integrated graphics cards are not good for gaming. I would try for something a little better in terms of graphics. What options do they give you for customization?
