Use Firefox? Hate annoying ads? I just installed this the other day and this addon really works well for automatically removing ads. And if it's not on the list of blocked items, all you have to do is right click and block it. Pretty simple. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865

I would imagine the CPU increase is minuscule.

Found this great website while hunting for a CSS tutorial. I needed something a little more advanced and this has everything: http://www.htmldog.com/guides/

Lemme know if you need help.

Hi mate a lot of this will depend really on, are you going to stay with windows xp or move to vista and dx10??? Why do you say that, because of drivers?

I liked it. Favorites: Leave Out All The Rest Bleed Out What I've Done Hands Held High Valentine's Day Actually.... I like almost all the songs on the album...

With dual core and quad core CPUs becoming commonplace, it'll be amazing to see what they are cooking up in this next revolution....

I have a Turtle Beach sound card after my Creative card died some time ago and it's working out quite well. Besides Creative and Turtle Beach, there aren't really any other big sound card manufacturers.

I assume even though the clock speed is actually lower, because of processor improvements it's actually faster?

Yeah, it's something of a system hog. One of the reasons I want to build a new system here in the immediate future.

Sweetness. I'm looking forward to Med II: Expansion coming out here shortly.

Anyone hear anything new about the price drop on the quad-cores? I keep checking newegg but the prices seem about the same.

I would suggest turning each of those items off and see if it still does it. If not, start turning them on again one by one and see which one is the culprit. Otherwise, my immediate reaction is that it's a graphics driver issue. I remember when I first installed Doom 3 and there were these white artifact pixels everywhere. It was incredibly annoying but after ATI updated their drivers, it worked fine.

What are some of the things I need? .NET framework, SP2, anything else really big?
-
Yeah, that's a good idea. I'll try to download some of that stuff now and have it ready.

Good luck dude. Dang, I still remember years ago following the tutorials you wrote on GR modding.

I bet that'll run Vista quite well.

The movie was a lot better....

Well, just ordered the case. Now I gotta figure out the rest of the parts.

Yeah, I can wait a little bit. Basically, I need to get this new system to play GRAW 2 at full settings and Supreme Commander which runs really slow on my machine. So it sounds like get Quad, as long as the price drops, and certainly get a better PSU for future potential SLI? I'm willing to spend a decent amount for a CPU as this is not a component that I would upgrade down the road. Thanks for the help. Also, with the power supply sitting on the bottom of the case, will that cause any problems? I assume since it's standard ATX case design, most power supplies will be OK?

I also use Synback. Works great. I schedule it to backup my documents to an external HD every night. Plenty of options too.

Well, I priced out a system: MidTower Case: $100 (regularly $140) (SLI compatible) PSU: $95 (regularly $130) (SLI supported) Video Card: $540 (SATA) DVD Burner: $40 (SATA) Hard Drive: $100 (SLI supported) Motherboard: $145 CPU: $317 Core 2 Duo or $480 Core 2 Quad RAM: $130 Total: $1,467 (Core 2 Duo) or $1,630 (Core 2 Quad) I think I might get the case now. That Antec looks fantastic and the rebate is only for this weekend. Here are some of the parts: Thoughts? Thanks. Oh duh. Forgot about Halo 2. Ugh... I really don't want to install Vista just to play games....

So I think I need to bite the bullet here and build a new system. The 5 year old Alienware that has had various upgrades over time just isn't cutting it anymore. I have a couple questions though: 1) If I build a new system with Intel's latest Dual Core CPU or Quad Core, will the old Windows XP CD that I have work? This CD is really old and doesn't even have SP1 on it. It should work right? It's the Windows XP CD that I got with my Alienware? I'll be removing XP on my old Alienware and purely running Linux. 2) I don't want to get Windows Vista yet. I want to wait for as long as pos
