Shouldn't this be in the humor section?

Yeah, why the laptop HD? The SATA 300 drives are really cheap now.

US Air Force wants to buy 70 PS3s for Cell Assessment

The cell processor is very good for parallel computing, thus the folding@home project.... -
It's finally here. RivetTracker v1.0 has been released after months of work. Any updates from here on will probably be bug fixes. Please report all problems either on the forums or the contact page. http://www.rivetcode.com/software/rivettracker/ Latest changes:

Yeah, I just plugged mine in and it works great. It'll take a few months to get used to it completely but I'm sure it'll be worth it.

I've got that same video card, you'll like it.

Sounds like a codec issue. Does WMP pop up with anything about the codec? You could always try playing it in VLC. http://www.videolan.org edit: Is it in Divx or Xvid?

I like the music when it's installing the patch.

Thanks for the suggestions. I liked the feel of the G5 more so I just ordered one.
-
Plus, it's more fun.

I think it would be interesting to approach from a programming and AI perspective.

I'm more interested in learning the tactics of room clearing for example than actually participating. I know it's not the "real thing" but it would be interesting to learn the strategies behind it.

I saw this link over at agr-s.com : http://www.warfighters.eu/ Is there anything similar in the US? It looked kinda fun.

New release is out: http://www.rivetcode.com/software/rivettracker/ A major install bug managed to sneak into the previous release. Thanks for those that are testing!

So it's going to be a firmware upgrade for the card? Pretty cool if they can pull it off. Heck, I've got one.

I have a Logitech MouseMan Wheel M-BD53 http://www.nix.ru/autocatalog/mouse_logite...useman_bd53.jpg I've had it for probably 8 or 9 years. I really like it but it's starting to die. Windows will make the "da-doop" hardware recognition sound every couple minutes or so and I'll lose mouse functionality until it's re-recognized. Sometimes it will stop working altogether and I'll have to unplug it and plug it back in. I'm very particular about my mouse. I don't want something too small or that has the wrong form factor. However, aren't there better/newer technologies out there for mic

Resumable downloading? Fantastic.... that was the one thing I thought it was lacking.

A new version of RivetTracker has been released: http://www.rivetcode.com/software/rivettracker/ Old versions should be considered obsolete and need to be updated. If you are upgrading, zip up all the torrents you have and do a complete reinstall. Then use the zip upload page to reinitialize your torrents into the database. This version changed a lot of code and as such I am looking for bugs and security vulnerabilities. If you find any, please let me know. Changelog: ---Version 0.999--- -Fixed bug where RSS feed was being displayed in header when it was disabled -Fixed roundin

If all you want to do is play the files, VLC works great. For the Linux enthusiast, it's really easy with ffmpeg... http://www.ubuntugeek.com/convert-flv-goog...ing-ffmpeg.html

I got it and it's pretty darn cool. It's very deep and actually pretty hard. Being able to quickly colonize planets at the beginning as well as defend them is tricky but if you hold the key system choke points it makes it a lot easier.

It's funny how many of the things that were done by the CPU are now being offloaded to expansion cards. Graphics makes sense but physics? Eh, I guess. As long as I don't have to plug in two separate cards...
-
Do you have the latest graphics drivers for your video card? This is a complete guess but could it be tearing? Do you have VSync on? I'm sure somebody else will have more suggestions. Hope you get it working.

I would love to see more small, short, single player arcade maps based on the airplane level.

I couldn't find any topics about this game so I thought I should create one. Sins of a Solar Empire is a RTS game set in space but the scale is huge. You are able to control planets, fleets, etc. The graphics look amazing and the publisher is Stardock which published Galactic Civilizations (I and II). I'm tempted to pre-order this one. http://sinsofasolarempire.com/ The videos look spectacular: http://www.gametrailers.com/game/2820.html
