www.openoffice.org I just downloaded it and I have to say it's looking spiffy. You can do everything with this software as compared to windows. Plus... it's free. Anybody use it?

Anybody use The Gimp

Hmm, not sure. I've heard of it. Is it any good? Just checked out their site, looks pretty cool. Are you running it on windows? -
Raven Shield will be better, once they release the MODDING TOOLS! HELLO! JUST RELEASE THEM! PLEASE!!!! oh... sorry... didn't know I was yelling.

How's the mod progress going? I bet you've been pretty busy setting up the new computer. Playing games and such...

The patterns for the folds in the material so it looks like real cloth? You can get those from Ruin's skinning tutorial. As for the designs, try some of the different texture options that Photoshop has. You can make some cool blending and smearing of different colors and the result looks pretty cool. As for the scale, I personally don't think it matters. HTH.

Honeycombs! OMG! I should have thought of that! That'd be an awesome bridge design. Hmmm... maybe extra credit...

Hehe, the ragdoll stuff. If you look closely in the picture of the soldier shooting the alien with the submachine gun..... there is a dead soldier at his feet. There is a small clipping problem because you can see his foot is actually in the dead soldier's foot.... anybody else notice that?

Nah, a flat bridge would still break easily. Plus it would be very heavy from all the glue. Some of the arch designs did very well.
-
Well, I won two 1st place awards for best design and most creative. The bridge weighed in at 25.3 grams. After testing, it held an astonishing 897 times it's own weight! 5th best in the class after 904 times (soooo close ), 1012, 1024, and 1043.

In the perfect world, everyone has all the facts and makes a decision that comes from what they personally believe in.... we don't live in the perfect world. All over the world there will be people who try to "sway the masses", people who want you to support them for one reason or another. I'm not saying one side is right or wrong just that people need to realize this before they make a decision on something.

It's cheap so why not go for it. Lots of great gaming. Fast paced intense combat. I still play it. -
I'd go with DVD because future games will probably be on DVD format so you'll need one. Plus playing DVDs is a nice bonus.
-
PC Gamer also had a huge story on it. Lots of screenshots and info. Did you know they even hired a psychologist to help them with facial expressions? Pretty cool. Maybe Team Fortress 2 will follow.....
-
It has it's own format. .blend I think it can save in .fx too like for DirectX projects. Haven't really looked into that yet though.

www.blender.org Found this great program that is FREE and works with Linux Mac and Windows. It does rendering and modeling and from what I've seen so far looks great. Some of the screenshots I've seen are amazing. The controls are pretty easy too. Now to find some tutorials....

Who put "other site"? They must not be reading the news page or even seen agr-s yet..... poor person...

Yeah, in one review I read they said that you might have to install older video drivers for it to work. They also said that it was very hard to see the reticle and that the reticle was not "3D" so it looks out of place. One option is turning off the reticle but then gaming would be pretty hard.... Is it cool using it for other things like web surfing or watching video or anything?

I haven't read that series. The Ender's Game series is critically acclaimed however, many people enjoyed the series. Give it a shot, you'll never know til you read it.

The entire Ender's Game Series by Orson Scott Card.

I have no idea on how much it'll hold. Cross your fingers. The span is 20 cm in length. There were also requirements as to the size of the bridge. Not too big and not too small. The other hard part is the "ping pong ball test". Where the bridge needs to have some way for a ping pong ball to be rolled (with a little help) across to the other side. Mine will go up the side to the top and down as opposed to regular bridges where you go straight across. Yep, it's just a bunch of wood formed together to make an X to prevent the bridge from failing to the sides.

For my Physics class I had two weeks to build a bridge out of bass wood (similar to balsa wood). I recieved thirty feet in 15 two foot sections. The teacher just told us to go do it without any advice. After 10 hours of construction and planning, here is the final result! All the bridges will be test for strength this week, (thurs.-friday I think....). Here's a picture:

Well, the Wild won 3-2 so the series is tied at 1 game apiece.

I'm watching hockey here and I'm so pumped! I'm not much of a person who watches hockey all that often but this game is action packed. Being a MN native I'm naturally rooting for the Wild. Anyone else watching the game or big into hockey? GO WILD!
