  1. and I think he was making a good point about how many copies sold vs how many online players. Theres a reason for that.... I've got a lot of respect for your analysis Ammo, it ain't like you just joined yesterday.
  2. I read the post history of the person using the name “UberSoldier.†The totality of the circumstances here indicate this person has consistently complained about the game and the developer since he ‘joined.’ He's free to do that, but one would hope that people would come here with an open mind, and not come here with their minds already mind made up. If I were more of a cynic I’d say this person was on a mission to discredit GRAW as well as GRIN. I’m not saying that. Members can go back and read his posts and decide for themselves. His own words may indicate more of a grudge than an expression of opinion. So many posts told the story, but here are two for brevity: On May 14, 2006, six days after joining (may 8, 2006) as “UberSoldier†this poster wrote: “…And why should I believe a company that said they were going to start working on the next GR title for the PC soon after they canceled GR2 and that was a few years ago.†Yesterday, he posted, “this game has sold 500,00[sIC]0 units or more and less than 10% is playing it online. His research of those numbers may say more about him than he said. As Aside from that particular bit of data, he's wrong. Colin’s recent post showed, GRAW was in the top 10 for sales in the month of May, and STILL outsold Age of Empires as of June 1, and it’s the ONLY FPS on the list, period. Compare to GR1 which was 14 on the list it’s first month of release. There is nothing wrong with someone voicing an opinion, negative or positive, but to continually hammer away as if on a mission is - something else. Think about it - saying "the sequal that was doomed from the beginning" has an 'I told you so" feel abou it...doesnt it? UberSoldier, if you dislike the game that much, why stay in the forum devoted to it?
  3. I could stop in town at the library I assume and get it. but home, I have to drive to my nearest neighbor! (not complaining!)
  4. I hate to ask this - but could someone download the patch, burn it to CD, then send it to me by mail? (man o man, a GRIN autographed copy would be great!) haha. I can't download stuff from home very well, and I don't want to do it at either workplace (legal or .mil) every time i download the new patch, the file is corrupted. I live (way) out in the country and we have a sattelite hook up. Kind of nice, but large files don't come through as they should. IF no takers, no problem. I know this is a lot to ask and most folks are just to busy for this kind of thing.
  5. so you've been fighting this battle since around 8 may 06 then? nothing ventured, nothing gained. Bye.
  6. I'm sitting here working overtime at the office and I can't post about trivial nonsense if I want to? I'm not even the guy who should deal with your not-so-nicely-put request. Enough with the attitude. Thanks. Owned, biatch. Careful... keep riding up on that too hard, you won't have GRiN on your face for long. Might want to check your neck for brown stains. Kap and Demolee, you boys might want to ask your momma about respect and appreciation- things about which you obviously never learned - the man's working for YOU ....AND posting here to maintain some degree of contact with the community, and you guys with join dates of 2 weeks ago and a month ago want to come in here and bust his chops?
  7. nice job GRIN. I have been meaning to say thank you. I don't post here much, cause I'm too busy PLAYING your AWESOME game! haha. And I will only buy GR4 if GRIN makes it.
  8. calius my brother, welcome to my post. It is a simple, humble little post and asks a technical question that I am too ignorant to answer for myself. You are welcome to stay-as long as you remember to wipe your feet before you come in, and make sure you don't track no crap in here.
  9. forgive my ignorance but instead of loading a bunch of patches, can I just wait until the june patch and get the cumulative benefits of all three? Thanks.
  10. the fact that you guys are able to utilize different leadership styles, and that you see different personalities in your AI team speaks volumes about the awesome work GRIN has done here.
  11. I sure don't want this to get out of hand (too late!) but I enlisted in the 80s and have fired every rifle the Army issues as part of an Infantry/Armor Table of Organizational Equipment (TO&E). I have a solution: When the last round is fired in a M-4/M-16, the recoil buffer spring makes a sound. You can hear it if you still have hearing, but you can ALWAYS feel it through your cheek. The reason the spring makes a sound is it is held in the compressed position since the bolt is locked to the rear. This same concept makes the Beretta and HK pistols "feel" different after the last round has left the chamber, as the slide auto locks to th erear. Would any of you consider this acceptable?
  12. The weapon platform designed by Gene Stoner does not produce a "click" when run dry. When the last brass is ejected from the chamber, the magazine catch holds the bolt open. The next time you pull the trigger all you hear (feel really) is the trigger engaging the sear, but the "hammer" does not fall. It makes an audible metal on metal sound, but after firing a few hundred rounds with no hearing protection, you cannot hear it. all I can hear is my own voice sayng something like, "Damn." I believe on a weapon that fires with a open bolt, like the old .45 grease gun, you may hear a click. It has been 18 years since I fired one as a brand new Cavalry troop, and frankly, I don't remember.
  13. Posted by CkZWarlord on: Mar 1 2006, 05:13 PM "I wish companies would just release games on the day they say they will the first time for once. I'm getting sick and tired of always waiting. As long as the game doesn't crash I don't mind a bug or two. That's what updates are for. In fact, if you think of more features then don't delay the game again. Include it in the expansion." *sigh*
  14. wrong tracer rounds in the daytime are almost useless wow, wrong again. sounds like you probably need some real world experience before you start giving opinions on things you know little about, except for the reality that exists within the games you play. Not trying to be harsh, but learn when to quit brother.
  15. The only way I found around this bug is to lay down on a roadway with either all my right side or all my left side on a curb while the other half of my body (ie- left shoulder down to left foot) remains on the road. It allows me to fire under objects most times with a little body adjustment. Doesn't help when lying prone at the top landing of a stairway though You still can;t aim down to ground level. rocky, i'm with you until this last post - hope I understood you right - if you are prone at the top of the stairs, assuming you maintain proper stock weld (shoulder and cheek) you have to sit up to aim down the stairs. you cannot remain prone unless you place the bipod on the second step down. Did I not understand you right?
  16. i'm just as confused by the answer, as I was by the question! are you asking what is the purpose of a squad? Wow, do you know anyone in the military you could ask?
  17. Bottom line: My faith in GRIN was WELL PLACED. We admittedly have a few tweaks and kinks to work out, but it is clear that is in process. You boys done good.
  18. sure, sorry: P4 3.0 1 Gig ram ATI Radeon 128 meg ram Abit mobo with 1 mb cache ← not lag... I tell you what it looks like: looks like I just sprinted the 100 yard dash and i am trying to do precision shooting - the reticle is traveling in an exaggerated breathing pattern.
  19. sure, sorry: P4 3.0 1 Gig ram ATI Radeon 128 meg ram Abit mobo with 1 mb cache
  20. There may be some simple fix for this, but my reticle is all over the place! just so you know, I qualify as an expert on the M-4 with 40 out of 40 targets routinely on new pop up ranges, as well as expert on the M-9 Beretta. Breathe, Relax, Aim Squeeze were the first words out of my mouth as a newborn. I can shoot in real life, but I can't hit squat in the game...what gives?
  21. Good post. Once released it is indeed a Ubisoft call about Grin and much further work. The MP aspect tools, not finished work, is not going to be good for a game at release. Ubisoft made a bad error releasing game unfinished. Maybe that was the idea. I do know one thing for sure though. This game has got the pottential to go a long way, with our support. ← Colin, I may have misunderstood you with your thought on them releasing the game unfinished, so pardon me if I am off track here, but we were a throng at the gate demanding a demo, in the name of all that is Holy, and invoked every advantage to harange them into giving us one....it is therefore unfair to say the released it too soon. Again, maybe I completely misunderstood you, but if I got it right I think the comment was unfair.
  22. I represent a repressed group of gamers who have a satellite connection. My internet link is so spotty I cannot download a complete game and expect it to retain it's integrity. It's like when Scotty beamed up "the new lieutenant" and his melecules were, ahem, scrambled. so all you old timers talking about how great it is, keep twisting the knife. And all you half life folks with 6 posts talking about how it sucks, keep talking. But it doesn't matter - you know why? cause I am gonna buy TWO of these mother******s because I am confident in GRIN. Sight unseen, Here's to YOU, GRIN TEAM! HOOOOAH
  23. Thanks. Sorry guys if I come across a bit harsh lately but having worked looon loong hours gets to you. But no more of those now. CYA ← no more long hours, that is, until you do an expansion?
