  1. but just as long as i know what im getting bigger maps, more features & more AI couldn't be done last gen

The trouble is you aren't. In theory, maybe, but all you're really getting (on any of the 3 big consoles) at the moment is xbox games with more effects.

Thats true and thats what i been saying all along if you been reading. Than again i am only talking about ALL last gen console's & this Gen of consoles not with what PC has been doing for years! As a PC player you might not see it, but for the console player it makes more since i guess.

  2. Funny thing is, in practice, none of that is true. Sure there's more power, but the higher ups and that power wasted on six billion normal maps and overbright hdr. Untrained artists are dumping thousands of polygoins into props, uninformed leads are asking for endless resources for unused texture space, and buyers want NEXT GEN(!) shader. The spare power to spend on view distance and ai and stuff just isn't there.

Next gen gameplay is last gen gameplay with bloom ramped up. It sometimes looks nice, but really, it doesn't matter.

To be less cynical, next gen gamepay is last gen gameplay with better video and sound. More immersion, but that's pretty much it.

Anyway, foxtrot, if I were you I'd probably buy a 360 and Gears, but without online that may not be the best choice. Wii is a good second option, really. I'd definitely get one if I could afford it.

I do agree that the gameplay meaning is a hardone to pin down, but all in all at the end of the day i'm still going with what i said before. Everthing to more and bigger maps, features to more AI that enhances my gameplay like i said before.

Also for the spare power on veiw distance and AI? Are we even playing the same games here last gen was nothing but Fog lines this gen i don't even see or notice any kind of fog line. If anything the games have much greater distance of veiwing compared to last gen. For the AI thing you got to be playing with me right? In almost all the games today there are more AI and smarter AI that couldn't be done last gen its all up to the devs for the rest now. I ain't just talking about smarter since there really aint that many yet (there is at least one game out now + with more coming usen the multitask feature to make every AI diffrent than the others), but also just more AI at Once on screen thats in this gen compared to last. I blame the dumb AI on lazy devs not the power of the system, but at least they doubling up on them for now.

As for the next Gen gameplay i guess everone has a diffrent meaning behind it so im done with it. Sorry i said it really LOL, but just as long as i know what im getting bigger maps, more features & more/smarter AI that couldn't or just plain wasn't done last gen then i know its next gen gameplay to me. You guys are going to have to find out for yourself what it means to you!

  3. and plus you getting more next Gen gameplay on a x360. If anything look at it like that what one will go father in gameplay not just the graphics.

Ok, I'm going to go a bit off topic here; sorry, Foxtrot.

What exactly is "Next Gen Gameplay"? It's a term I've seen bandied about many times over the years, and still it doesn't seem to actually mean anything, other than a buzzword used to push new platforms.

Don't get me wrong, I'm certainly the embracing sort when it comes to new avenues of gaming. I just don't get this seemingly pure marketing phrase. It can't mean graphics, as that's why we call those "next gen graphics". It can't mean sound, as that's why... etc, etc. What does this so called "next gen gameplay" offer that is actually different from last gen's portfolio?

To be honest i understand what you mean and its a hard one to answer.

Yet as of right now from the meaning i had behind it. I would have to go with more envirment action on the screen like you can move, break or even change whats on the map + more speacil effects without any ill effects to the system like last gen. Larger map sizes to play on + more veiwing range like less fog and more objects (AI, friends to play with, vechiles or what have you) on the screen at once (Without haven to have AI spawn or other object appearing right out of nowhere or even in split screen where they have to cut the graphics down is now gone). Also have to add in the AI can be more smarter if the Devs want to work it in there that is with the power of the system becuase it can handle more mutlible task at once without dampering the rest of the game. I'm sure i could come up with alittle bit more, but thats all i have for right now being this late and all. And thats more on what this gen can do more of compared to last Gen for gameplay. If anything it all adds up for a much better gameplay action than last gen could do by just haven more on screen. Again thats a tough one to answer, but i guess thats what it means to me. Just more bigger everything from maps, feature to AI and from what can all go on at once maken my Next Gen Gameplay so much better than last gen gameplay. Just a overall thing that last Gen didn't have the power to push i guess therefor expanding my gameplay by give me more features all at one time on the screen as i play that i couldn't get before.

  4. Yeah, I already know when its that cheap it wont look as good.

I am getting stuck on which to get, I like some of the games and the features of the Wii (and the controller alot), but I really like the x360's graphics and power. The PS3 is almost completely off my radar because of the price.

I keep getting stuck on it now, Wii or 360, I think the Wii is a better value even though it isnt as popular or has all the "latest" stuff. If it wasnt for the whole HD part it would probably be easier. One side says it looks fine while the other says it really looks good on the HD TV and SD TV doesent do anything for looks. What about the monitor thing, if I hooked it up to this, would it look HD? My monitor supports the x360s max resolution.

Yea the x360 will go over your PC monitor fine and look almost as good as a HDTV, but smaller. Can't say it will have the same comfort or relaxing feel becuase you will still be like nose to screen just like when you playing a PC game. Than again maybe all you have to do is just upgrade your PC monitor for both you PC and console needs! So it gives you more reason to go back and upgrade your PC without worring about upgrading your telly just yet.

Also last thing the x360 supports your SDTV so you will still be in HD even on that. Maybe only in 480p (I think SDTV goes up to 480p right?), but it still will look good none the less and plus you getting more next Gen gameplay on a x360. If anything look at it like that what one will go father in gameplay not just the graphics.

  5. You got to do what you got to do right!?

Also you do know that the Wii really has no better looking graphics/gameplay than Xbox1 right? Even without a HDTV the x360 or PS3 will look 5 times better than a Wii if not more.

All i got to say is do what you got to do, but do it for what games you looking to play not becuase of a TV set or internet! Getting a Wii becuase you don't have a HDTV or broadband don't mean it will look the same as a x360 or PS3 would. Believe me the graphics and Gameplay are still a big upgrade compared to a Wii on a normal set.

Just look into the system for its line up of games and go with it.

  6. I disagree with Rocky overall, but the 360 isn't really that great without broadband.

Assuming you're buying the better games, there are some excellent options with the 360, even on a SD TV. Compared to the ps3, definitely, but if you're weighing this against a PC purchase or something the 360, without live, may not bee so great.

Still, excellent console, no framerate problems on the well made games (proving it's developer error, not the console) and some great games already. 360 > ps3 at the very moment, unless you're holding your breath for mgs4

Well i can agree and disagree with Rocky also!

Yea the HDTV thing is a must now adays, but if you go to any other console without a HDTV you in the same boat! Samething goes with the broadband if your on a console. Also from what Rocky has played he is missing out on what the x360 really can do now adays compared to what it did than with game play. So from what he played in the past i can almost understand where he is coming from, but after seeing everthing and played whats out now i just can't agree anymore with the game part! Over all out of all 3 systems without a HDTV and broadband x360 would be the better choose for horsepower, price and from up and coming of games. Than again i would say x360 even with the HDTV and broadband. Also with XNA release even with a offline console you can make your own games plus mod afew to keep it fresh if your a gamemaker/modder that is! Or you can go to a website on your PC and DL new games or mods all without being online with your console, but you will have to network the console to your PC and your good to go.

  7. 24 players, huge beautiful maps, and no lag problems. It's fun, but a little too arcady to keep my attention for very long. Please, find out how they implemented their network code and make it happen on GRAW2.

    I agree,

First thing i said when i played COD3 was damn only if Ghost looked and played this smooth over xbox LIVE. COD3 looks great and i wish Ghost would go back to its roots like that with the maps. COD3 is to arcady for my taste to thats why i only played it one day and has been sitting ever since.

Also as for the 24 player thing i really have to say no on that. Ghost is about tatics and with 24 players that would go right out the window fast! Yet for everything else i agree 100%! Would love to have the huge beautiful maps, and no lag problems like you said.

  8. I have had GOW for 2 days now. It runs and looks just great and from what you where saying about the horror. I almost have it beat and i really didn't even know it was ment to be a horror game! Im just to wound up in the tatics it takes to play this game i guess to notice. It's very well put togther the SP and MP are all about team work and tatics.

It may not be the look your looking for in a game, but im more than sure once you learn how to play it well the tatics will suck you in for hours! I love my military games just as much as all you guys here, but this game with the tatics is a nice change of pase. So if you thinking about getting this game only get it if you love usen team work & tatics running from cover to cover other than that i would say pass. OMG thats what i would say about Ghost too LOL!

  11. Just farcry, I think, EA has the new engine.

Anyway, what makes you think GR on cryengine 2 would be a good thing? Engines aren't really a one size fits all thing. Each has pros and cons.

Either way, Ubi's been using UE3 alot lately, so if anything graw2 will probably be on that. I kinda' expect it to use it's own engine, though.

Well look at OE it turned out rather good with more pro's than Cons if you ask me so i think its a safe bet. Only reason i want the Crisis engine is only for the tropic/woods settings! Love how the surroundings react to me being there rather im just moven around or even in combat. Than again i guess it well never happen anyways becuase GR aint just GR anymore in more than just wood settings nowadays is it!? I guess them days are now over for good.

As for the UE3 engine though it looks great and is being over used lately. I still can't say i really ever cared for any of the Unreal Engines except for when Splinter Cell was on it. Well thats the only game i truely like that used any of the UE's. Besides the looks of the engine's it never felt right to me when it comes to game play so im not really a fan of it. So im all for a inhouse engine again rather than them use UE3.

  12. --

Eh, to a degree. I'm as big of a supporter of consoles as anyone, but I really don't think we'll see much in the way of actual usable modability this generation. They're definitely taking the right steps, though. Maybe next time.

Yea well like i said the x360 is holding back to a point which is still yet to be seen, but they have said since the start mods are allowed with maken new maps, skins & gametype or what have you. If they allow every game on the console i don't know! As for the PS3 they said they weren't holding nothing back to the modders. Im running alittle late and have a Halloween Gothic Bash Concert tonight so no time to look it up, but i have a post somewhere in here about the info Sony gave out about the 100% modding on all games. Yet again, i said from what i understand they are tring to say and they always seem to only tell half the truth so i don't have no trust in Sony anyways.

SO all in all i guess it all comes down to what Sony does and the next move Microsoft makes.

  13. I don't know what they all got planned for Graw2, but what i would like to see is for them to use the singleplayer engine for the Multiplayer so it feels and runs the same this time around. Not that the MP was all that bad just the Singleplayer blow the Multiplayer out of the water with the graphics and gameplay if you ask me!

I actually would like the opposite to happen: Ubi takes GRAW1's MP engine and uses it for single player. That way, ALL the single player missions would be available for co-op and adversarial MP. (That, and bring the GRAW1 MP engine back to the PC ;) )

To be honest, you are one of the first people I've seen around here that noticed that GRAW's MP engine is different than the SP engine. Most people I know think it's the SAME engine although I noticed the difference pretty quick from the character models and aiming system.

Who else here either thought the SP/MP engines were one and the same or totally different?

LOL i'm fine with what ever if its the new GRAW SP engine or the old one just as long as they the same!

Yet i would give them both up just to see GR on the new crisis engine.

    Oh P.S.

No matter what engine it gets on the biggest thing i like to see is more Recon please! If not please change the name becuase without it, it just aint Ghost or Recon. Sometimes i think they forgot what the name means. At least be nice enough to start a all new game altogther if they are not going to add it in.

  14. Gears of War with two player co-op for the entire story mode with drop-in and drop-out feature for the online partner looks great!! 4 on 4 only in the versus mode but that looks fine with the size of the maps and the level of detail.

    November is looking good.

Yea GOW's SP and CooP drop in and drop out feature is great! Also with Test drive where the singleplayer and multiplayer are all the same thing!

I just love the GOW feature where i can be playing singleplayer and a friend at any given time can jump in and play with me online without losen a beat. If only more games would take this into action than i could truely call it next gen!

Also like was said before when they maken a new game they should focus more on maken the SP and MP all wrap in one. Not just for CooP, but just so it looks and feels the same when you jump online! Like GRAW & Splinter Cell the SP looked great and felt great, but once you went online everything looked and felt degraded. I would like to see the MP feel and look just as good as the SP.

  15. I was reading some of the stuff them guys where talking about with the console. Stuff like the editing and modding! Well as it turns out this Gen aint fellowing the same rules as the old console's in the past and the X360 and the PS3 are alllowing you to edit and mod the games on the system just like a PC can. Yet the PS3 from what i understand is allowing 100% full modding in there games on there system just like if it was on your PC almost no diffrent. The x360 is also allowing modding and editing, but it is locking you out of the core engine to try to prevent cheating unlike the PS3. So maps, game types, skins and what have you. What you will be able to do on the x360 kind of limmited, but im sure fine with if it keeps out more cheaters.

This Gen of console is walking over almost all new ground. The x360 is tring to make there games and the PC games the same so they play together online.

Anyways sorry for the rant, but most the stuff the old PC players complain about are no longer the case. Its all comeing down to K/M or controler this Gen and thats about it.

  16. Besides would love to play CooP with a friend playing all the SP maps.

  17. Sony Bleeds Lik Sang Clean To Death

"Lik-Sang.com, the popular gaming retailer from Hong Kong, has today announced that it is forced to close down due to multiple legal actions brought against it by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Limited and Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. Sony claimed that Lik-Sang infringed its trade marks, copyright and registered design rights by selling Sony PSP consoles from Asia to European customers, and have recently obtained a judgment in the High Court of London (England) rendering Lik-Sang's sales of PSP consoles unlawful.

As of today, Lik-Sang.com will not be in the position to accept any new orders and will cancel and refund all existing orders that have already been placed. Furthermore, Lik-Sang is working closely with banks and PayPal to refund any store credits held by the company, and the customer support department is taking care of any open transactions such as pending RMAs or repairs and shipping related matters. The staff of Lik-Sang will make sure that nobody will get hurt in the crossfire of this ordeal. The lawsuits they are talking about, by the way, involve Sony's attempts to make gray market imports of console systems illegal, especially in Europe. The way they did this was by filing a suit in every single frickin' EU country... essentially bleeding Lik Sang to death. You can see the writing on the wall in Lik Sang's statement:"

    Link

This is just plan sad and its mustly becuase they want to keep PS3 out of the UK! Fellow gamers are uniting against Sony saying this is the last straw and are now starting to boycot Sony "Mostly the UK guys i guess, but not all".
