Please... I need answers.
Are you trying to make a specialist or a normal character?
Post the the name you are given the character, and the file location (directory) that you are placing this new file. Plus what other MODs are you running DS IT......
-
I was wondering if maybe someone would be kind enough to make a model of one for me.
That item is small enough that it might look OK if you just painted it onto the skin
-
Yes see my edited post above. You would need 3D Max to make new chr file thats a whole different ballgame
-
Well, when I changed his skin file, I just added some cdn armpatches, and named the file differently. If you could add the parts of the .atr file that need to be changed on here, like when it is opened it notepad, that would be helpful
Well all you need to do is rename the orginal rbs file to something like
"Klaus_Henkel_body_org.rsb"
Then rename your new file to
"Klaus_Henkel_body.rsb"
The you will see the arm patches.
There is no need to change the atr file at all. The "klaus_henkel.chr", "klaus_henkel_a.chr" and "klaus_henkel_b.chr" files are coded to look at the "Klaus_Henkel_body.rsb" for the skin, you can just change the skin and keep the orginal name as I said above or use the skinner program to have the chr files point at a different rbs file.
I hope this helps

Ahh, thanks. I have a new question now. I have edited Klaus Henkel's skin, and am making a new character with it. I have it saves as an .rsb, but the LODs need .chr files. What is done here?
Just copy the same lines from the orginal Klaus .atr file into your new Klaus atr file, if you are using the same chr files.
If you save your new skin file with the same name that the orginal Klaus Henkei's skin file then you are all set, assuming that you are useing the same .chr file for your new character. You can also use the Skinner program (GR Model Skinning Utility) to set the rbs files that you want to use for your chr files.

You should check out the Unreal Recon mod, that might be a better starting point, you can find it in the download area.

The detail on the vest looks great, and the camo pattern is also good.

The hat on this model is the att_h_set01.qob attachment

And this is the lower spine attachment, be aware that these attachments do not fit all character models.
-
Ahh... oh well. KNow what those files I mentioned are ( they are in the mp1/model folder)?
Xalarth you should download Wolfsong model veiwer mod "WolfsongMAV" it has characters with each attchment so you can see what's what.
-
i think there is a default island thunder attchament too.
it`s called Att_cuba_reg_pis.qob
That right , I forgot those. They are on the hip (lower spine) I think. The one above go on the leg, plus there are some holters in DTD_No_Easy_Day which also go on the leg.

Is there neway of changing the skin for ur character in game or do i have to do something outside the game? If so what:)
Not inside the game, but if you have BJB's BjB_SabreTeams_1-3 mod this will allow you to easily change your characters and specialists before you launch GR to any of the ones provided in BJB's Saber Teams (alot).
-
Is there any holsters as attachments in GR?
Yes, BJB has one in his BjB_SabreTeams_1-3 mod (bjb_CQBPistol_01.qob)
To use it your *.atr file needs the following lines
<RightThighAttachmentNormalLOD>bjb_CQBPistol_01.qob</RightThighAttachmentNormalLOD>
<RightThighAttachment>bjb_CQBPistol_01.qob</RightThighAttachment>
<RightThighAttachmentJungleLOD>bjb_CQBPistol_01.qob</RightThighAttachmentJungleLOD>

When I take a LAW the weapon hangs off the front (when not in use) of the character model, anyone else get this.
-
I realy liked Wildcat's Ultimate Mercenaries MOD so I thought I'd try my hand at skinning a couple Mercs

I can't seem to get the throat mike on the second merc right.
I'd be interested if anyone else would like to skin a Merc for UMM II
-
You better be good or else (oops that should be reindeer)

A little early x-mas cheer -
Check out "BjB R6 Characters" mod. It has an urban camo skin and a blue skin and "BjB SabreTeams 1.3" has some black skins. I think you can find both in the Downloads area.
-
but i can't seem to remove their helmet straps.
I believe that the helmet straps are on the face skin, you would need to edit or replace the face rsb file. The IT marines face rsb files do not have straps, but do have face paint (camo). You could use the Russian faces in the GR and or the Ethiopian faces from DS and or the Cuban faces from IT. They should all fit the standard chr faces but not the specialist chr.

BJB's
Yes both skin's are BJB's orginals, done for the Frostbite Mod, with a camo overlay added by me. BJB's does great work! It's easy to added camo to a white skin

-
Here are 2 another winter camos; using Baja Bravo's skins to start from the mod Frostbite:
Specialist M. Nielssen and V. Ivanovich. Based on Predator Winter White camo and a Soviet winter camo pattern

i would love to post a screen shot but i have no clue how to .
Go To Villagephoto, they have limited free image hosting. Post a photo there and then link it here
-
Question; how does the camo plugin work? and where can I download it
Check out the Ghost Recon Skin Tutorial By Ruin, it has a link to it
-
Thanks for the comments,
The vest was based on PREDATOR WINTER WHITE:

Which I might try for a whole suit.
I used VDL Adrenaline Camouflage plugin for this suit, which is a great tool.
I will try my hand at other winter camo's

First try skinning and posting pic

Oh yes thanks to Wolfsong's Model View for making these easy to find.
interchangable skins
in GR - Character & Skin Modding

You would need to edit the GR actor files so they point to the character you want to use.
This is the line that you would need to change.
<ModelName> </ModelName>
An easier way to get different actors/characters is to use "BJB_SabreTeams_1-3." It is a great mod that allows you to select from various character models to use as your Ghosts.
