Okay now I'm feeling the love and I can see the R6 veteran scars in there.....I started on Rogue spear and will always love those old missions.......it is my first love. I still love those snow maps! Anyway, welcome, good to see another R6 old timer aboard! your views and 'constructive' and detailed criticism is welcome.......cheers.

Mmm. Good point. All of my gaming friends are mature people who love to discuss openly good points and bad points about their favourite games. I'm sorry that environment is clearly not the norm here, it's actually quite a freeing existence to talk about games that way. ← Oh please c'mon Echelon that is pretty weak, there are alot of guys here with balanced views, who point out the various weakness's in GRAW and even GR. I actually think that GRAW needs alot of work as well, but there are ways of gettiing the message across, a first 5000 word post on how bad everything is in GR land is hardly going to be well received. You obviously haven't spent long enough here, if you hang around and turn the volume down you'll find there are alot of decent guys who will 'openly' discuss this and other games. There's being balanced and open, and then there's being negative from the start, a huge difference. Its fine not to like GR and GRAW here, a bit wierd and out of place mind you, but still we tolerate all sorts here at GR.net!..... But go easy on your first post is all I'm saying.......ya dig?'.

Sorry, I don't really understand why you are surprised that people are a little defensive and might even hit you with 'noob' comments ( even though that hasn't actually happened). Your first post in a GR site, which strangely enough is full of guys who like GR, takes the original and its add-ons apart. Followed by an extended diatribe about how amateurish GRAW is. Do you really expect us to welcome you with a warm hug............."ah yes echelon....welcome brother....take a seat...tell us more about how you think our faviroute game/s sucks". I read that initial post, thats some intro to the forums for a new member. There are alot of guys here who really like GR so obviously being a guy who isn't that keen on the series, you would think a little tact or subtlety might be called for.....?....hrmmm... Diplomacy is right out then? Guys here will always welcome new members with honesty ( well the majority of mature ones), but when your first post takes both GR and GRAW down. What do you expect? A red carpet? Please.....if anyone does put you down as a Noob or gets their back up...........well all I can say........if the shoe fits............

Most everyone in this forum should be ashamed

That is fine and dandy, but how those those posts are done is what the issue here is. There are several members that think they can be rude and arrogent and aggressive when posting their comments, suggestions, criticism, etc. That is what needs to stop. ← Rudeness is not an option in my book..I agree with you on that. But as I said, I'm not about to pay homage to a company simply because they designed (and got paid for) a game under the Ghost Recon name. The homage will come later when it has been earned. Right? ← Exactly......you hit the nail on the head. People can still make their points and be well mannered into the bargain. GRAW will earn its way in to our hearts. -

Excellent post..... and some good points Day. Its true that we have waited so long for this, the 'gap' has widened as has our expectations. Ultimately the yard stick by which this will be measured will be if it brings as much joy to the 'old' GR heads as it does to the new breed. Its a difficult job to please both camps........ . I think I need to wait for my full copy.......we'll see if that 'X' factor appears after a while........ .Ultimately we will have to move on, I hope that GRAW will make us all feel at home!!! -

He he..........yeah..... this thread is getting good I think I'll grab a seat......... ← It might not be quite as good as [GR] was when it was hot. But, if we get more maps, weapons, game types and most importantly Mod Tools it would surpass [GR] in "almost" every possible way. ← Now there's a sensible statement.......I agree on that one. Actually I would put it could surpass GR. -

GRAW demo performance analysis by Elite ######
stormcrow replied to 1Bravo [CV]'s topic in GR:AW (PC) - General Discussion
Some of the *ahem* more aggressive members chewed thier ear off with endless requests and random nonsense. I doubt you'll hear from them any time soon. It would be nice tho' to get some feedback. The most I can squeeze out of my 7800GS that has now been overclocked 4 weeks out of the box is, 40 fps and medium settings on half decent res. Really for the dough I forked out its not great......still at least I can play the beast, which is more than can be said for some! -
AGEIA Physx? GRIN and bare it?
stormcrow replied to SAF_Biffa's topic in GR:AW (PC) - General Discussion
Yes..... it seems this little tike is about as much use as a chocolate hammer... I have removed the offending beast from my system.....tsk tsk UBI, what are you up to with this nonsense? -

Colin: What's your response to the negativity?
stormcrow replied to Bahger's topic in GR:AW (PC) - General Discussion
How can you possibly compare the demo when the full game isn't even out yet? .......Lets give this some time to settle down the old hatch and wait a while...... Well my work here is done, Im off to the west coast to hit the beach for a week. I've been working hard in the real world and need a break. Can't wait for my pre-order to land.......... will see you all some time in GRAW-land. Happy discussions ladies.....play nice and be respectfull boys and girls.......... -

Colin: What's your response to the negativity?
stormcrow replied to Bahger's topic in GR:AW (PC) - General Discussion
I think many miss the point of mature discussion on a topic that is close to all our hearts. Fact: We all love GR. Fact: We all want to see a game that honours the tradition of GR and meets our expectations on this format after so long. Fact: We want a game that allows us realism and fun at the same time and lets us go online with our buddies and immerse ouselves in real tactics and also have some good old fashioned shoot 'em up fun. This isn't about defending or attacking GRIN or even UBI. Its about letting each other know what we think of the DEMO so far. Others are intent on turning it into the great debate when the full version and patches are not here yet. I love GR, I like GRAW, I think the potential is huge and some of the features are amazing. It will no doubt need a few tweaks and will take some time to get used to for some of the guys. I have pre-ordered the game and will be playing it and no doubt loving it. @JASGripen - Thanks for the heads up! but I do think Bahgers comments are too much here. People should be allowed to post on their technical problems and initial thoughts without being verbally abused. This went unchecked which is the most worrying apsect. -
Colin: What's your response to the negativity?
stormcrow replied to Bahger's topic in GR:AW (PC) - General Discussion
Some of these comments are a little heavy handed. I agree there are some guys who want to do nothng but moan. However GR.net should be a platform for experienced and new GR fans to tell each other what they think and how they are getting on with the demo as they play through it. Making a blanket statement about people having poor rigs and that members are babies is negative in itself. As long as people are polite and thoughtfull (including a hint of intelliigence and maturity), then there should be no problem with members letting each other know what they think. Bahger I appreciate you are passionate about peopel being critical, but calling member morons and conspiracy theorists is only going to get people even more uptight. There is constructive crticism and then there is name calling mate. If my framerates hit the floor and it affects my gamplay is affected, then I will post and do not expect to categorised as 'baby' or a 'whiner'. Its only natural for some members/players to compare this to GR1 and expect similarities, what else are they going to compare it to? The sims? Its called Ghost Recon. I hate the guys who are thoughtless and endelsssly listing demands from Grin, and yes there many who go overboard, but people have been wating a long time for this so they get excited and wound up. You talk about being negative, look at your post. -

stormcrow replied to *RWG*Jackal's topic in GR:AW (PC) - General Discussion
they do that themselves. i put my men in Cover position, none shoot anything! then when i sayd "attack" war started, or if enemy fired one of my men, they reply to it! and Soldier with "minigun" has always given me and others good Suppress fire! he shoot towards the enemy and as soon as i crossed the road and shoot the enemy from his cover. you just need to know how to do it! think they are humans! not AI ← No they are AI, thats the whole point.........I dont want them to 'do that themselves' I want then to do what I tell them. Thats the concept here, you play the captain. i.e your orders are followed. I had three guys unloading ammo at a guy behind a wall wasting ammo, I used "stop" and they just kept on wasting rounds. As for using maps, I was playing R6 in 1999, I know how to use a tactical map. We are drifting into la la land here with some of the posts. I like GRAW, I just think it needs a wee tweak towards the old GR. No biggie, keep yer knickers on boys and girls its just the demo....... Again I think you misunderstand some the original points, but I am done over analysing this demo. The potential is massive, the squad move well. the Framerates are way to low, its missing some original features from GR1, it will take a while to get used to and we will probably need some patches in the coming months. I know what I need in game, Ive been playing GR long enough. Hopefully the full version may have some features that we have yet to see....... -

Yes.....I was thinking exactly that, how do you suppress their fire and issue assault modes? Normally you can continue in the next team member and finish the mission regardless....... Some good points raised there....... -
Calm down everybody.(About the graphics)
stormcrow replied to Xone's topic in GR:AW (PC) - General Discussion
Fair enough, I won't argue with the HD on DOOM, you got me on that one! Visually though it is clean. Yep, Far cry you have to activate HD thro' the console......but errr....thats hardly a major task.....and again it looks damn good and plays smoothly. As I said, it gameplay that counts for a GR game, and I do like GRAW's gameplay, but it eats system specs............ -
Calm down everybody.(About the graphics)
stormcrow replied to Xone's topic in GR:AW (PC) - General Discussion
I can't see that point, I have seen far superior visuals in other recent titles that perform at much better FPS. The HDR is not that great compared to titles like DOOM and Far cry even. For me GR is about gameplay tho', eye candy aside its plays well, but not great. I will wait for the full version.......... -

I have to say, thats Jackals post is well placed to put forward some interesting observations about this demo. As Colin has pointed out, the potential is massive, I can see that straight off. It doesn't feel like GR I have to say, but maybe it was never meant to. I started out with R6 back in 99/00 and GR was my main shooter for years. This is weird and not GR, but 5 years or more can do that. The problem is we've been waiting ages for this thing so expectations are now through the roof........ The jaggy's are poo, I agree, and its sluggish for guys who don't want have money throw at their rig, but there are some interesting developments, patches are no doubt vital for this community and needed soon I think. I won't turn my back on this based on a demo alone, but I am not as impressed as I thought I'd be. Still, I'll wait for my pre-order and play on............... -
