New Dev Video - GRAW PC footage
semjonov replied to Rocky's topic in GR:AW (PC) - General Discussion
I thought dual-core was supported by everything. It's something your system handles, not a game's inner-workings. Am I wrong? ← The game really need to support it if you are gonna have any advantage with your dual-core. Right now it it is usually better to not buy an dual-core but instead buy a cheaper single-core cpu (That probably will be faster at this point.), who now how long it will take untill the games really take advantage of dual-core? Or 64-bit cup:s for that mather. -

6600le, do not even bother buying a second one. Didn´t even know they made an le version. Just buy an 7900gt or if on a budget an 7600gt. And also, I thought everyone understands swedish, jag är i varje fall expert...;o) -
Dual core cpu?

So what kind of computers have the game been tested on by people that gotten to try it? I havent found any preview stating what kind of setup they where testing it on? Recommended and minimum usually just mean: If you pass minimum the game will run at 5fps If you pass recommended you will have like 15 fps with high settings or something like that.
-
Well the 6600 serious has never been a high end card just so you know so you cant complain about being smashed by a $500 card. The recommendation on nvidia cards is probably buy an 7900gt version with fast memory because they overcock like a madman. I seeen people go something like 700/2000 when increasing the voltage, it is so bloody insane I am actually thinking about selling of my new 7800gt....it is insanely fast when overclocked. Most people don´t get 700/2000 but 600+ on core and 1600 on memory is not unusual.
-
So no one that gets to play and does previews checks out what kind of computer hardware they are running stuff on? =)
-
May, well, lets hope it doesnt turn into another Rs: letdown.
-
I don´t have a clue what you are saying. "THe general rule is to buy the lastest generation even if it is only a medium card , becuyase a medium card of the lastest generation will be as powerfull as a high card from the last generation and the new one will problay last even longer as it is based on newer technology ( pixcel shaders for exmaple ) ." Last, lastest, you got me confused.
-
Seriously, if it looks like those pics now that I studied them they can take that game and stuff it some place dark.
-
Jay, I was happy until I heard someone mention starforce, maybe I should just buy an xbox and leave this drm/starforce/worm/virus infected world. I am still really unhappy that Sony got of so bloody cheap for their crap.

In the rate the computer graphics get updated I wouldn´t recommend buying a low end card and hoping for four years of gaming. Well, maybe I shouldn´t say that because some people might like their 320x480 resolution and their 20fps at that setting. I would like to see someone with a 6600gt run FEAR and COD2 at 1024x768 with high settings. BF2 is hardly as taxing as these games that truly runs like crap on most rigs.

And to complicate it more the 6800gs agp version is clocked lower but can usually be unlocked to 16 pipes.

"And there's your big difference between manufacturers: the quality of the components used. For example, not all capacitors are made the same. There may be people here who remember Gainward's 4200Ti and the few cents they saved on four crappy capacitors that ended up in "pink screens of death" during cold weather and a subsequent incredibly expensive recall. In another example, Abit, shortly after Oskar Wu left, started using cheap capacitors on motherboards and their overall stability and overclockability suffered immensely. This is reason enough to stick with the first tiers, namely MSI,

The biggest difference beween mainboard manufacturers are usuall just memory compatibility and overclocking options. And i must also disagree on the part that the video card is not the most important thing in the setup. I really think it is, if you play games. Of course a high-end card doesnt help if the rest of the stuff is crap, you need a balance. I haven´t even played the Lockdown demo, but it didn´t excactly look like a 2006 game to me, the screens I seen (Maybe just old ones?) didn´t even have shadows on the characters and the rest looked a bit old, but maybe I just have to check a

I must say after playing COD2 and some other games I really have started to like ironsights. It makes you more into the game when you have your rifle and bang, right in the head and the helmet goes flying....

The moment people started to cough out $700 was a bad day for the rest of us. Just that 512MB gtx cards are very hard to find because the rare ones that show up get bought the moment they hit the shelfes just say: "We can charge as much as we wan´t, people will buy it anyway". Well, and about the 6800gt/gs again, I am shure they will get you through the year, but with low graphic settings, don´t expect miracles. And also some people will play anything at 20fps and think that it is smooth, well, it ain´t for me! Of course if you wan´t to play BF2 it will work, but BF2 is NOT one of the m

And also for the people planning to buy new computer stuff just for GRAW. It is over three months there and that is if it get released on time. Even if it get released on time it is not shure that the stuff that are most worth to buy right now still is then, there might have come a $200-250 card that reallly whop an 7800gt or it might be just that a 7800gt costs a lot less. By the way ther have started to pop up 7800gt cards with 512MB of relatively high speed memory, a tad expensive right now but who knows? I bought my new stuff mostly for COD2 and FEAR, considering that my 6800gt just did

Just had to say that I put the new stuff in my computer now. Leadtek 7800gt and I switched one of my meories to a 1GB so now I have 1.5GB total. I thinking about testing a 1GB stick more that I have on my desk, but I am not shure it is compatible with my mainboard, thinking about just sending it back and I can´t do that if I used it. COD2 really runs like a dream now, at same settings as my 6800gt i probably get usually 30-100% better framerate. I was amazed by the performance in some places. I still use 2xAA and 4xAF, 1024x768, everthing at high except smoke that is on lowest. I usuall

As far as I know the X-fi don´t help much in games compared to a regular Audigy, but everything is better than onboard audio. Also in some games it is very important to have updated sound drivers. Also in some games you might need to change the sound settings to lower, I remember playing COD1 and at the last level I got double the framerate when turning of eax with my audigy. Also gofing around with the sund settings in FEAR and there one of the eax settings gave the best framerate, but the difference there was small.

see, again, its all Charlie Brown to me: WaaWaa WaaWaa waawaaa...I don't know what that means. Is that good? PC Gamer and Falcon-NW said this two 6600GT was better on one game SC:Chaos Theory. At the time of build, that was the game I was building my pc for. Monkey see-monkey do approach. So again, is it good? ← Yes, 6000p in 3dmark 05 is really good. Think I got my 6800gt up to 5700 when overclocked but it gets problem in that high speeds in some games then. But the 6600gt sli will probably get is butt handed to it in most games by the same card. The design of the cards, 12

Well, as he said a lot of games has an benchmark thing. Some games like FEAR has the benchmark thing clearly visible in the options, but for just that game thebenchmark do not reflect actuall gameplay. Allmost all games has an option to run on an fps counter, if not you can use frapsm don´t affect framerate to much as long as you don´t record. He got 6000p in 3dmark 05 with an 6600gt, I was like ###### thats even a couple more points more than my 6800gt. After that I realised it was sli....=)

Don´t miss out on the Cod2 singleplayer part that is really awesome. For multi it seems to lack a lot of things. And for people claiming the 6800gt/gs is a really good card at COD2: http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/call_o...vidia/page5.asp I wouldn´t excactly call that performance good.
-
Your statement is incorrect. Do you have a 6800GS? I am running a 6800GT which is clocked faster than a 6800GS and the GT struggles playing the latest high-end games (BF2, COD2) at decent framerates (consistent >40-60fps) at higher resolutions (i.e. >1024x768) with all the graphics settings turned up. The 6800GS will play any game that comes out this year (but not much faster than a 6600GT), and maybe the next 1-2 years. In 2-3 years, many new games will be using the PS3/Xbox 360 spec as the miniumum (i.e. GF 7800/X1800 level graphics). ← Yes, a 6800 gt/gs card just won
