  1. Another possibility for anyone looking for drivers is to go to www.driverheavendownloads.net and pick from the Omegas or the Zeropoints. Or go to www.tweaksrus.com and get the WarCats.

All of these "tweaked" drivers either don't come with CCC or let you bypass its install foregoing the need for the .net framework. I've tried the WarCats for Nvidia and the Omegas and Zeropoints for ATI.

By foregoing the bloatware app known as Catalyst Control Center, you can use the incredibly amazing app known as ATI Tray Tools to do any tweaking or overclocking you want to do. It's about 1/50th(?) the size of CCC and lets you do a boatload of things with your card. I use it for game profiles, gamma/brightness/contrast hotkeys, temp monitoring, etc. I used to use it for fan control and hope to use it for a GRAW game profile that will dynamically bump my card's voltages and GPU and video memory clocks for better GRAW performance. ATT is available at www.guru3d.com. An new release candidate (1.2.6.930) has just come out.

Or you just do as I just did:

    E6600@3400

    2GB ddr2

    x1900xt

    Runs a hell of a lot better....;o)

If I just could have som anti-aliasing to...

  2. well to play it you need to buy it. then copy it to your dedicated server... and your golden as no key required.

Or game server providers can install it if you provide the key that you use from home since the sads doesn't use it online with gamespy.

    What's wrong with that?

Except it is a ######ed uop system and you realy shouldn´t have to use the key to setup a server...

  3. I believe that WE are out there...............lurking about...............waiting for the patch.

Co-Op is a little tough with just 4.......and if you lose 1 or 2 guys.....well it gets almost too tough to finish. WE have hope about more playability for Co-Op. At least I do. Played today for about 2 hours and NORAD was almost too much, but great fun.

    TL dies should be option............whatever.

The real downside is TS should have a system of YOU having a Channel, with YOUR settings and be able to DIAL into another persons set-up. Yes, I guess like a phone, but so we could communicate better. Everybody who had a TS Channel, could in theory talk to each other.

    Kingkat

Well, I wouldn´t care about the four people just don´t make it to be game over when the captain gets killed ######.

  4. Allright, played ten minutes and then decided that I could have more fun with something else:

AI, seriously, i managed to get two stuck on the same corner twice, after an autosave they need to follow you into a parking garage. I told them to follow and they manage to 1. Keep a VERY safe distance 2. Get stuck on the corner, twice, two of em.

Well, got the AT-weapon and blew up a tank, goes up to the chopper and my guys are like hundred meters after me and one starts to take fire, of course he decided to walk around the builing instead of following me.

Has anyone tried coop and checked if they fixed so the mission is not over when the captain dies, then I might be able to play with some friends instead of the worst AI in the history of gaming?

I gues I have to go play with the mods people are making and actually managing to get it to work.

  5. Framerate vise this game this game sucks on most systems (All that don´t use cf/sli or an 7950x2?),

I run the game fine on 1280x960 with it maxed out on a 7900 GT KO, which only ran me $270.

the game doesnt need as much as people think..

    AMD 64 3000

PC400 1GB RAM (just upgraded to 1.5 GB last week)

X1600 PRO AGP 8X video card

parts i pulled out of the closest and put together... i run the game at 1280X1024 , first texture setting at medium, the rest on high. (basically as high as it will let me set it)

game never misses a beat. my upload speed is 328K and i host a GRAW server plus teamspeak with 4 players all the time and again never misses a beat.

With that computer I assume that we have different opinions about "not missing a beat".

I run it at 1152x864 on:

    A64 3400+

    7800gt

    2GB ram

It works allright, I tried higher but then it started to suffer.

  6. "You must learn how to play this game. The rewards from finishing a mission with your teammates alive are achievable. Many people here have done it.....so I'm sure you can too."

Well, I got past a lot of levels before then i changed stuff around on the harddrive and accidently removed the saves but I thought:

"What the hell, I just play the missions again"

Well, that was a good idea.

It is not about getting through the missions it is just the frustration of baby sitting the team, and suddenly discovering that someone decided to not follow you the same way as the others but decided that the right thing to was to get around an entire city block instead of following you...

"2: YOU are playing this game, not your men."

Well, that is really true because they are stupid. I also like when they cut in infront of you when you are standing shooting around a corner...and they decide, "hey, theres plenty of space for me to...I just stand on your toes a little, is that okay? Oh, can you please remove that hot barrel from my inner ear?" Well, thats the times they actually show up for a fight before it is over. Follow doesn´t mean follow me when you feel like it, or take a shortcut around the map instead of following your other two stupid friends.

I am gonna go check out those threads now, thanks for the links.

  7. Just wanted to say that the next AA update will probably be very interesting. The thing I feel will be one of the nicest things is this:

"Co-Op Gameplay vs. a new AI Enemy

To date, America's Army has been singularly focused upon objective-based, multiplayer gameplay in missions set against a balanced human enemy. With Overmatch, we'll debut two new missions that will pit Rangers and Special Forces against an overwhelming force of Enemy AI Soldiers and Vehicles. Rather than presenting players with the one-to-one odds, as is customary in our current missions, these two new levels represent asymmetric conflict; wherein the enemy outnumbers the U.S. forces by upwards of three-, four- and even five-to-one! The new AI enemy represents a more organized military force than the insurgency/terrorist antagonists of our multiplayer missions."

    http://www.americasarmy.com/community/sitrep_071106.php

  8. I only get frustrated every time I try to play a level, on single player. When I first started playing when it came out I thought it was a nice game but it had some problems, so I shelfed it for a while. Well, it was a while ago now, tried it a little after every patch. My biggest beef is with the AI:

    They are morons!

They are so stupid I don´t even have words for it.

    They practically never take cover.

They usually cover the opposite direction than the one I just told them to bloody cover ten seconds ago.

And while covering the wrong direction they are doing that ½ a city block away from where i told them to go and cover.

When I tell them to follow they sure keep the distance, well, at least no one will hit us all with one bullit, it probably takes a tactical nuclear strike to get them all as they are scattered way back in the rear with the gear, they do seem to be a little closer with the newer patches.

The gunners in for example Blackhawks onluy pretend to be firing, seriously.

If soneone is shooitng a lot, it is okay to take more cover (But if you been in the spot I told you from the beginning no one would be hitting you now!)!

Then we have the next thing, the engine it uses:

Why use a hdr version that nothing supports togehter with AA and not include a simpler "bloom" version that every other game include.

Framerate vise this game this game sucks on most systems (All that don´t use cf/sli or an 7950x2?), remarkable considering that the lack of AA really gets on my nerves and probably everybode elses.

And why is everyone of my team painted in a golden yellow color?

    And the next:

Where the hell is the posibility for me to play together with my friends without problems like:

No stand alone server version (!!!!????????)

Games that end when teamleader is killed (Was a while ago I even tried, so it might be fixed now?)

    :wall::wall::wall:

This is without a doubt the worst $50 I spent this year on a game. So far. This might seem like I nagging a lot but seriously...

This is like the BF2 debacle, that was a nice way to try and kill of the game with all those bad patches they have managed with. I am still waiting for them to fix the things they broke while they try to fix the other things, that they broke while fixing the other things...

Think I am gonna go and try a mission again and see if they this time actually follow me instead of entangling themself around an enemy tank when they seem to have gotten stuck around a corner ½ a block away. I don´t condone attacking(?!) an M1 without AT weapons when I ordered them to come with me ½ minute earlier.

Just remembered that I don´t hear my feet moving on the ground even when running, or hard breathing. Maybe that is a bug or something, oh, well...

  9. I have not noticed major FPS chugs yet except in the very populated parking lot sequence in Mission 2.  (Heh, come to think of it, no wonder the demo ended when it did, can you imagine the poopstorm on these boards if it hadn't and the subsequent battle brought maybe fifty percent of demo users' systems to their knees...?)

My question is, do those with mid-range systems set performance parameters for the infantry battles (probably most of the game content) or for the big set-pieces?  My specs are:

    P4 2.8 Ghz

    Ati 9800

    1 GB RAM

    Audigy 2

I was running well with Res 1024 x 768@ 85 MHz, Textures MEDIUM, 4X AF, Shadows LOW and Post FX HIGH but for the parking lot sequence I had to turn textures to LOW (not a huge deal), Shadows OFF and Post FX MEDIUM.

I'm wondering if I should go back to my original settings for future missions, tuning them down again for the big bottlenecks.  It would be interesting to know just how many FPS-killers of this kind there are in general and whether this helo/tank/dozens of Blue AI big battle section is one of the biggest I might encounter.  If not, I may as well leave my lower settings in place.

BTW, has anyone noticed that the gas tank explosion is much bigger than it was in the demo?  You can't get nearly as close to it without being killed.  Maybe that, too was a choice made to limit the howls of agony from demo players whose systems could not have coped with the full monty.

With you gear I am amazed that you even can run that high, you got to have like 20fps most of the time?

  10. Personly no tweeks makes slight bit of difference to my frame rate.  I even put the res at max higher than 1280 x 1024 and all settings high and still getting the same FPS.  mid 20s to 37fps.  Has this game got forced Vertical sync on?

Turning of the dynamic shadows was the only thing that made a "big" impact, for the rest of stuff it was like one fps here and there.

  11. I just got a 7800GT, overclocked it to GTX speeds (really is easy to do) and this game flies along on max settings.

I would like to see that, I bet it is more something like 1152x864 AF at 16x and you get 25-40fps most of the time. I think you have to wait for something like an x2000xtx or 8800gtx fot it to "fly along".

And my backing for that is that I got my 7800gt at gtx speed.....

    :sheep:

  12. Also the key to holding the embassy for me was to hide the ghost behind some building because they have braincapacity of a five year old and don´t take cover when tanks are firing at them.

So I just put two behind the embassy and one on a side street. After the first tank was destroyed I left one to hold the back, and the one on the side street providing som flanking fire and one ghost i brought into the embassy ruins. And the it was like a shooting range after that.

But, could someone tell the ghosts to not run towards mg positions and tanks!!

    :stupid:

  13. I played this last night in coop and thought one of the guys playing fragged us. TY for the heads up!

First time whenyou cleared the ambush point I sat there at the spot for like five minutes, after a long while I found a soldier lurking in the shadows of by where you roped in, and then after that I just died witohut nowing what hit me. After that I went all peaking around corners in paranoid mode and put one through his skulle before he fired.

  14. 7/10

If we had at least one other mode for MP, a few smaller maps, dedicated server files, and modding out of the box, it would have gotten a 9 from me. If they would have gone with more traditional graphics settings on top of that (AA option), it would get a 10.

    6/10

    It gets points reduced for:

    * No AA and to demanding on hardware

    * The AI is still kind of lacking, do not run out and get shoot by that tank...again...as soone as there are tanks you just have to stash them away behind a buidling somewhere.

    * Mission ends when captain is killed even in coop, ###### mate?

    * No switching between the soldiers

    * To little commands to the soldiers possible, seriously dudes, try to get closer to the ground, you don´t have to stand up all the time.

    * Dedicated server files, you guys it is 2006 now. Most games have had that for five years now!!

It shouldn´t have been released yet, and don´t call our hardware lacking because someone used an hdr version that no card support together with AA. Insulting.

  15. It definitley improves the look of the players and all, but I miss the pretty lighting and the feeling that I'm in a really sunny day in Mexico city.

Got to try it when I come home, as it is now the ghosts look like someone sprayed them all over with with a golden colored spraypaint. And what happened with all the colors, if it really looks like that in Mexico there is no wonder everyone is running for the northern border.

Well; i think that effect look like crap but I really like the gameplay. To bad on the fps to, my 7800gt really gets is ass kicked.

    :whistle::whistle:

  16. AMD 3000+

    GF 7600GT

    1 GB RAM

So i installed that Fraps-thing to show the FPS and the result is a little wired ..

when i put everything on high (textures on medium..) at 1280*1024, average FPS are 25-30. And it look soo nice!!. Ok but when i put evereything on low at 800*600 the fps are exactly the same?!

.. so my hope is that its not the graphiks card that makes graw run at only 25-30 FPS but the system RAM?!

3000+ CPU should be ok, 7600GT, too. But 1 GB RAM is just the minimum to play the game?

does anyone have a 7600GT but 2GB RAM?

Most likely you are cpu limited, upgrade or overclock the cpu.

for UK guys apparently UBISOFT are in talks with multiplay.co.uk

I just ask for some more info on multiplays forums, below is the reply:

We are hoping to have quite a few public GRAW servers and also have clanservers available as soon as we can. More info on that as we have it

    So promising info.

One thing that hasnt been raised, and hopefully i won't get in to trouble with the admins, is that we know the dedicated server is started via the in game menu. So i assume you need the CD in the drive to run up the game, for copy protection reasons, i can imagine this being an issue. Unless you can also start the server via command line and it skips the CD check, although i would have expected that to be mentioned by now.

I think all we have been told is that you need a server with equal specs as the min specs but with a lesser video card...I think. Nothing about whether we need a CD in the drive or how copy protection will work with dedicated server. From the sound of it, because we do know the option is in the game menu, it will be pretty much like running the game on your gaming rig. In other words, you will have to deal with copy protection and do a full install of the game, etc.

That would be a very reliable way to keep the servers and online players to a minimum.

    :wall:

    :stupid:

  18. Hmm this brings an interesting point... can you shoot or toss a nade while falling....

An example in mp would be.. i'm camped on a roof with one of my buddys hiding out somewhere.  There are 3 enemies left so we are losing.  all 3 walk below me.  can i fall off the roof and use my nade for the win since my other guy is alive?

Just a thought... something that may prove odd for ladders.

Or why not go for the easy aproach and just drop the nade on them...

    :stupid:

  19. and it will released without standalone-server

     :wall:

Are you shure about this? That seems like an incredible stupid thing to do, but maybe they don´t want servers for people to play on, I shure as hell wont buy an extra copy to put up a server....

yep iam "very sure" .. ask grin.. and u see

Well, that is a nice way to keep the amount of servers to a minimum.

  20. still 05/05/2006 at play.com  :)

btw. they ship to finland too, EUR 39.99 delivered!

    You forgot the free shipping....;o)

    £25 for you brits.

I wrote delivered, price includes shipping :P

But not customs and taxes. :o

For objects above £18 or something like that taxes are already paid. Atleast for the europeans.
