  1. Hello,

    I am running GR v1.4 on a powerbook G4 800mhz.

    It runs great...great game, really.

My problem is trying to host/join multiplayer games.

A friend and I have been trying to "connect" and are having difficulties.

We are both running the same versions on the same platforms except he's in California and I'm in Nashville. I've tried entering his static IP into the "internet" multiplayer box and clicking add. It says connecting then aborts. I've given him my IP, he's gone into the multiplayer settings and entered it - same results. I've gone into my router and forwarded ports 2346-2348. We then tried GameRanger, we were able to host a room... both connect but when either of us started the game the host would begin playing and the buddy would be kicked. We also installed the latest patch 1.0.3 which I don't think helped.

Can anyone sort through the madness? I've searched the threads but can't find what I'm looking for. It may be something simple with OSx security that I don't know about. My firewall is off, internet sharing is on...bla bla.. nothing seems to help. I'm using a netgear MR814 wireless router - connected to a surfboard cable modem. Anything else I'm leaving off that might aid in troubleshooting?

Oh yeah, when he's in town we've been able to connect across the wireless LAN no problem.

    About to give up,
