  1. The game play in the vids and the look and sound of the game looks like OpFlash 1.1.

    1.5 to be exact.

it's starting to just look like a dredging up of a re touched OpFlash.

This is exactly what ArmA is. An update of OFP. The developers never claimed it was anything else.

I'll still buy it cause i did love OpFlash but i hope it looks better than the vids cause AA is a tac shooter fans last hope.

Please check out the Game2 forum in this BIS section.

  2. This is why it is a shame that some people might have stopped playing OFP after being turned off by the graphics.

Give it a chance, and eventually you realise that you can do pretty much whatever the hell you want with it. Airstrikes, fast-roping, HALO, all that stuff. Then you have the enhancement mods that upgrade the effects and AI.

Just yesterday a mod was released that not only makes the effects better, but improves the AI to such a degree that they will drag a wounded comrade to safety, then administer medical aid.

ArmA may not look as good as some of the other games being released now (though I think it still looks pretty damn good), but most of these games simply do not have the replayability and modability of the Flashpoint series. This is why the OFP community of both players and modders is still bustling after five years. Not even Ghost Recon can compare.

  3. i bet foot soldier combat will be non-existant in this game. whatever you see in the videos is just marketing. unless your weapon of choice is an Abrams, Apache or a Mig - you're gonna hate the gameplay.

This is quite possibly the dumbest thing I have ever read on the internet.

For everyone else, please observe this video of two AI soldiers using

during a fight. You can now also hear things the enemy say to each other over their radios.
  4. Oh and Ranger ... it wasnt Thermite, they duck taped woodpeckers to the pillars and over a period of a week drip fed them speed ... god you people are sooooo slow on the real information

You know, that is only marginally less believable than what I just read on some CT website just now:

The only way to reconcile ab analysis inclusive of the 4 Glaring Inconsistencies is that the thick coatings of the rebar of the cast concrete support core and foundation were actually made of plastic explosive C4.

    Wow. Nuts.

  5. Their own video they provide shows CLEAR evidence that this was not the case. If indeed the fire was almost out and smoldering as they claim, then why does a HUGE ball of fire billow out as the building starts collapsing?

    That was the thermite, dummy!

  6. The search and destroy mission seemed quite good from the brief play through I gave it. The only thing that bugs me about SEB is their pathetically inaccurate weapons. I know why they chose to make the weapons HD, but it is really frustrating when you are desperately trying to hit Charlie while his ECP AI has little trouble putting one between your eyes.

Sometimes when we made 'Nam missions, we used a weapon pack that came with these units. I don't think you can get them seperately.

Also, I don't know why this happened, but at one point when my team had made it into the village, the Team Leader ordered the squad to target and kill him, which they obligingly did.

I could barely play the defend mission because there was too much going on for my pathetic PC to handle, but it looked fun.

Overall, playing those missions made me want to go back and finish all the Vietnam missions I started but didn't finish.
