  1. Thank you for the response...it's greatly appreciated. I knew the purpose of portals just not the entire process of making and applying. I've read the tut on it...but it's not real in depth. There isn't much about applying it to a scene of say...outdoor and indoor blend...
  2. I'm reading through the Scheel tutorial and I stumbled across an area that confuses me and raises a new question. Create a portal between two rooms...do the boolean...detach etc. After you delete the polygon you don't need for the portal...which side gets grouped with the door? The room that is closest to the door...the tut says farthest from the portal...which i take as meaning closest to the door. Next question.... If you model a building that requires windows...would you need two walls to give the window the depth for the portal? The above is for two rooms...what about the window?
  3. You could try and export it to max than export it as a map...you may have to do some tweaking to get GR to take it...LW and Max work models differently...
  4. Thank you for the replies...I'll give the files a look. I've been using max for about 3 years and i'm experience in high poly modeling and animation. Stalker Zero asked to give mapping a try so I jumped in. I planned on creating the base terrain then creating the buildings on top of it. After I get the buildings done I am going to adjust the terrain to add some variety. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.
  5. Well, I tried expanding the MYTOAN map and it didn't go well. I really don't like picking up where someone left off. So my question is... Are there any links for making maps from scratch? I have the schnell tut but it doesn't go into terrains etc...all the other tuts that I have run across are for weapons (zzzZZZzzz)... The map that i'm working on has both outdoor and indoor scenery...any heop would be great...thank you... I did find this great tutorial Terrain Tutorial I decided to creat a terrain using a quad patch...easier than eyeballing contours...
  6. I'm working with Stalker_Zero on a map for an upcoming mod and I had a few questions. 1. What is the map size limit in GR? 2. What would be the idea poly limit on objects placed in the map environment? 3. What is the height of a GR character (standing, kneeling, prone)? Thanks in advanced for the help... BEWARE: I will be stopping in regularly with more questions...
