  1. The grand tour? Complete with Crash Avoidance 101....
  2. Careful, your tinfoil hat is showing. Beretta got the M9 contract because their gun was cheaper than the Sig P226. As to the discussion at hand: 6.8 is a very nice round. Without further field testing, I wouldn't just come out and say that it's better than the 5.56, because I don't know that, but it is a nice round. However, we've got billions of rounds of 5.56 in stock right now, not to mention all the ammo that our NATO allies have. Changing caliber would entail more than just buying new guns, we'd have to screw around with our ammo production, too, and then we'd be forcing it on the rest of NATO (and those countries don't have the same obscenely high military budget that we do). So I think it unlikely that we'll be switching anytime soon. ← You should have been involved in the process and seen the testing involved. You are falling victim to the belief that the military's guns (or an weapon for that matter) are made by the cheapest bidder. This is in error and perpetuates the idea of an entirely incorrect purchasing process. Price is not the main factor in a military contract. Myself and two other persons just oversaw the bidding of a 7 figure contract. Guess what? It did not go to the cheapest bidder either. Price is a factor but is not the sole nor main deciding force in the contracting process. Careful, your assumption hat is showing. If you are going to insult someone, check your facts. ← Boy, this is ironic, but you're assuming that I'm assuming. I'm not. I'm basing this off of actual fact. http://world.guns.ru/handguns/hg09-e.htm "Both the SIG-Sauer P 226 and the eventual winner, the Beretta 92 passed each requirement during the trials, beating out offerings from Colt, Ruger, Heckler & Koch and Glock. The P 226 actually represented a lower cost per unit, but Beretta's cheaper accessory cost made the Beretta the winner in terms of overall cost." So, um, I win. True, price is not the only consideration in all military purchases, but for the M9, price played a big part (although a secondary part to actually passing the trials, of course, or else the Glock would probably have won). ← So it is all about winning? It ought to be about the truth. Now your being naive. Very naive because A) you believe what you read on some website, and . ← But yet, we should just believe everything that you have to say? Wouldn't that go against believeing something that we just read on a web-site? Because really, all you are is someone that is saying something on a web-site. And I have never known an operator to be as open about the workings of the proffesion as you are. Makes you kinda wonder. ← Sometime you get the Bear- Sometimes the bear gets you....Drop it mate. Contact the Moderators they have enough information to prove he's the real deal. He's crenditials have been established a long time ago- if you further question this your likely to have an unpleasant visit from an Aussie sometime in your near future.

  4. Very interesting. I'm curious what are the names/designations for the Tier 2 Units backing up the SAS in the UK and Australian SAS? ← Tier 1 SASR - Tier 2 4RAR(CDO) 4RAR Imagery in Op Falconer- Iraq SASR Imagery in Op Falconer Iraq And them working together as a combined Special Forces Task Group in Ghan SFTG Ghan 1 SFTG Ghan 2 4RAR Offer extra muscle for strategic targets and security/CSAR/RESPFOR as needed. They fight in larger groups then a Typical SASR Patrol, have a similar unit structure etc to a normal Inf Unit- but with More specialised equipment, training, technology. Tier 1 SAS/SBS. Link in This Forum to British Tier Two Unit Interestingly- the New Canadian Unit has had a good look at the 4RAR Model and US SF model in forming the unit. The most well publised use of a Tier 2 and Tier 1 unit working together is Operatioan Gothic Serpent- The operation covered in the book/movie Black Hawk Down- where you had Tier One Types hitting a target and Tier 2 providing security and Response Force etc....
  5. US Army Module Pack Promo US Army Module Promo- Back up Link- RAR File
  6. Good to see the Canadians having a Tier 2 unit to complement JTF-2. Gives the Cannuck Soldiers another choice for those wanting to expand there skill base. Seems to be the thing among Western Nations now to have a Tier 2 Unit t back up the Tier 1 Shooters. US, Canada, Britan and Australia all have it in place or going to.
  7. Nice Article on Chinese Procurement Plans and Current Equipment BTW As to Chinese equipment being old copies of Soviet Bloc Equipment- well once no longer- it's mostly Top of the Line Equipment-Russian, Euro Block, and Israeli- i..e more or less US in Nature. Particulary in the Aviation sector are the Chinese really advancing. Thing is they learn quick- the first licence built Su-27's (Chinese Designation J-11) that were built had to be sent to Russia to be repaired as they were were shoddy. Later on the Russians found that the Chinese standards has superceded there own. There's one thing to have the equipment- another to know how to employ it- again there are indications they are learning.... Nice Run Down of Chinese PLA-AF PLAN etc Equipment... Interesting to see the comment re Chinese agents being arressted over USN Project Info. Sort of tallies with there doctrine changes. The PLAN and PLA AF have plans to acquire TU-22M Backfires and other assorted systems. Squarely aimed at power projection in the face of US CVBG Groups.....Indeed The USN and most countries in the SE Asian Region are well aware of whats going on. Look at the regional standard Combat Plane- The Su-30/27 and the F-15 are the standard planes being acquired in the region and in large Numbers....

  14. Due to recent events and a team restructuring Razors Edge has changed our domain name and moved to a new “virtual” home. As our teams first anniversary approaches we thought it time to re-examine a few things and one of the first was our web host. The new provider we are using is much more secure, stable and is a lot faster than the old provider we used. Due to an irrecoverable error with our forum database we were unable to transfer much of our information. Things such as posts and user accounts were lost or were unable to be moved. Some posts have been manually transferred over to the new home but those who had an account with our old forums will need to re-register at the new ones unfortunately. We have made every effort to try to avoid this but unfortunately we ran out of viable options. Steps have been taken to ensure that this does not happen again in the future. We do apologize for this inconvenienced and hope to see all our friends and fellow VBS Players at our new site. The new site is up and operational at this time but work still needs to be done to bring it completely up to date. In the interim you may find links that are broken and or some features of the forums not working. If you do please notify me, via the PM feature at our new site, and I will address any issues you may find. Our new home can be found at Razors Edge Website and our new forums at Razors Edge Forums This is addition to the CSHAG and Friends Forums Website Here. CSHAG and Friends Website
  15. WK- had seen references to SR-71's using JP-8 that were based out of Okinawa. AFAIK the blackbirds tended to top off from KC-135Q's that were specifically tasked to refuel the Blackbirds prior to them starting their high speed runs etc. So topping off the fuel tanks with JP-7 prior to the higher speed, thus higher temperature flight would make sense.
  16. WK, Aware of the other varieties of Aviation Turebine Gas. JP-7 was the fuel that was designed for the SR-71 specifically. My info is from a variety of sources people who I've met, resources like books and obv Net info. JP-7 as used by the SR-71s prior to retirement was more derived from JP-8. Some sources:- Articles on Aviation History Fuel Part of SR-71 Blackbird Manual- see Ref to Fuel Research in to JP-7 Properties at High Mach by NASA YF-12 and SR-71 Article NASA Listing of Fuel Types JP-4, JP-5, JP-8 and JP-7 etc Jet Aircraft Propulsion History
  17. JP-7 was the main fuel for the SR-71- it had a higher flashpoint then the Mil JP-4 derivatives- i.e JP-8. JP-8 has also been used by the blackbird or can be- heard of it being used by the crews out of Okinawa- Habu Hill- ur old haunts WK
  18. Where'd I put that stockpile of Titanium LOL And whose paying for the JP-7?
