  1. exactly the same thing happened to me, I was running the latest drivers for my nvidia g force card with windows me, I was advised to re-install earlier drivers and now i'm "cookin on gas". Look for my post it gave me the answers. Good luck
  2. Re-installed original drivers that came with the graphics card and what do you know "cookin on gas" you would think that getting the latest drivers would actually improve things not cause me problems. many thanks to all and as i'm a newbie this is probably the first of many.
