  1. I think if Australia was serious about human rights they would have intervened in Timor in 1975. Rescue mission? I think they only wanted back the oil fields of the Timor trench that Keating signed away to Suharto. Double edged sword this stuff. As for direct confrontation with Indonesia, It started in 1965 and never really stopped. Australia has that same indifference to genocide you talk about. Its indifference to the plight of the Bouganvillians was another example of Australia looking after business above humanity.
