  1. a forum will be produced in time where we can all come together. mostly things have been discussed via voice atm, and it does make a lot of choices easier since we are all really coming from the same place. Currently we are working on some server side stuff. we have a loose mental list of those involved and it will be more than a few conversion maps. even though FC is very modable there are still a lot of changes to be made, and a lot of stuff to be finalised first. there is a slight pause ( not really a pause as we are still able to make stuff ) as we await the sdk, currently a far cry community member has made an importer for static models, but we still await other model import abilities. we certainly look forward to community imput, we all for the most part like the same style of gameplay so it gives us a good start. Rugg will keep every one informed as to the progress.
  2. Can someone remind me of which map village is? Yeah the juming of cliff into water is fun, escpecially when you jump off backwards still shooting at a tango, not very effective just fun. another thing this engine is capable of is parachute drops. mmmmm

  4. p.s. alot of those servers you see online are not dedi servers, and peoples "servers" just cant hadle all the proccesing. make sure what you play on is a dedi, it will improve it alot.
  5. well to put it strait, no it doesnt play as smooth as gr does. I dont really have these issues but some people do. alot of it comes down to your computer though. before i got my computer back i had to play on a smaller system and it lagged it up a little ( it just couldnt proccess everything ) but now on a larger system i just dont have these issues at all. so i guess the real answer is yes and no. your computer will cause you lag before your connection does. but if you where to drop the poly count down to the gr realm and limit the vehicles. you will most likely have just as smooth of game play. if not smoother.
  6. "Embassy or Vilnius? " thats gonna be interesting. Well theres something that crytek has to given mass credit for. For those of us who have it we notice the hefty size of the install, its because they gave us all the goods, including a mass amount not used in the game. Textures Animations models. they have the stuff for a stance hud just like gr already there just not used. they have the full limp animation set, front and side "rolls" ectt... And the one thing im enjoying the most is that the engine first looks for scripts in the loaded level file, if not found it then looks in the default ( actually it looks for hugher numbers first skin1.pak would be loaded instead of skin.pak ) Currently im working on a map that is forested and not tropical. and for this map im working on a new "command map" hud just like we all enjoyed. ( not actually a command map but a map, you get the idea.) and thoughts are spining through my head of replacing the radar with a stance hud. a different model set and camo skins. and this can all be done with out the need to first have to select it as a mod, its just in the level. one of my favarite aspects of moddig for FC is that you can add new keybinds for new functions, so you can directly "communicate" with the player as needed. a single player thing can be done, though currently there are issue's with coop on a dedi server ( rumors are they are working on an official coop mode ). there is a lot to learn about modding this engine though, they made it so incredable open so we could do what ever we want, but the price is that theres much more to learn and you have to delve a little deep into the code sometimes. im definatly excited about all this and i thank soroc for giving it the needed thrust into fruition. theres a strong direction with this. And some very deturmened people behind it. we are stubburn and we want our game, even if we have to jump into the trenches and do it ourselves. croc im very glad to hear that, i can supply you with anything you need( short of a new computer ) but i dont want to bash gr2, ill probly get the consol version for "monday game night" because of its 2 player stuff. ect... ect..
  7. yeah jack youll like it soroc continues to tweek it till its just right. And its also nice to see rugg drop mention of the mod over all. And where this whole thing is going, i will be a lot of fun.

"Same as FC and all other titles, all uses third party physics simulation, so it HAS physics, never said that valve coded it themselves." just thought i add a correction, it seems there is often some confusion about this. the CryTek engine uses its own physics engine the only thing that was "outside" is the Lua language. tank is a lot of fun, and other than more realistic terrain and more greenery than the original, its tank. the graphics may vary a little, due to the textures used and a new spin ( really do we want the exact same map, i know it may sound nice but...) this map does have some changes, and why not. CryEngine is more powerfull. ive played this map a bit and its a lot of fun. and yes ok so far cry has a scifi "twist" its still mostly merc's and jungle. and its a lot less scifi than the original incarnation of dino's and aliens. oh and rugg, in case you havent found it yet, Cry Tek already tossed in an unused limp animation, it can be "recoded" in just like the roll. no need for SDK on that one.

  11. well with GR the bot's or ai or NPC's are not modifiable at there source, you can mimic new behaiviors via scripting, but its a little complicated ( at times ) you would just create trigger plans. produce a "behavioral responce" and use the trigger to activate it, it is however much more limited with what you can do in GR than in other games, and the ai might not "agree" with your idea and freak out. an example might be ( on a simple level ) to create a plan when if 2 bots are close to each other they strike up a conversation then move on. good luck and have fun
  12. age doesnt relly bother me. most of the servers ive played on dont have to limit ( that i know of ) NSO is 18+ and thats worked well for us, i dont think it is ( for me ) an age issue but a maturity issue. ive met both on both sides of the fence. from my experience though ( and just my experience ) you become much more likely to run into patience issues and maturity issues the younger you go. on the other hand in there defence the biggest crack heads ive meet werent kids, but older. there where just fewer for me as the numbers went up. i say feel young again and talk a little smack back, if you did that with your wife you'd be the one getting smaked.
  13. the modding community is doing good in far cry, with a much needed uplift coming in only a touch of time. and no camy skins for characters atm but many are right around the corner.

"right now my mom's 600mhz with windows ME, what I'm using right now" for the first few post i thought you where one hell of a fast typer. lol well it sounds exactly like something that was happening to me recently ( even though it could be other things.) check your g-card, and see if the contacts are eroded, or if the card is bad ect... with me it seemed some one ( not me ) had spilled soda on the back of the case, gravity took over and it ended up in the agp slot, and well the contacts erroded. hope you get it all sorted

  18. well with just the right stuff this could be very intense, and remember if your gonna play it, you may do it different and it could be over real quick, or be multiple missions long. so one question, are we gonna be the cops, or the 2 robbers?

  21. well i wander if you can use a timed set of proximity ( crap i forgot the rest of that one ) the script it so that it loads the player closest to X location, then the next timer goes off and load player x into y ectt. p.s. im thinking of the wrong thing ignore my post
