Operating System: Windows ME,(4.90, Build 3000)
system manufacturer - n/a
system model - n/a
BIOS - Award
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 CPU 1.50 GHZ
Memory: 256 MB ram
page file: 267MB used, 1525MB available,
Direct X version: DirectX 9.0b(4.09.0000.0902)
That's a start... To get the full dxdiag there is a button that says "save all information". This will create a text file with all the dxdiag information. You can then copy and paste the full dxdiag here.

Is this a Dell, Gateway, HP or other mass produced system?
-
Post your dxdiag so we can see just what your system is.
-
Download it, install it, and see.

A lot of changes were not listed to help keep the whiners at bay for a while at least.

5.1 Surround Sound 600W PMPO Subwoofer Speakers
Umm, not trying to sound like a jerk or anything, but a 600 watt speaker system?? Isn't that a bit of overkill for a computer? Movie theatres don't even have 600 watt sound systems in them.
Sounds like to me, that some cash could be saved there. What are you paying for them?
-
Do they have a privacy policy anywhere on the site?
If so, I can not find it. -
1. Sapphire Radeon 9800 Atlantis Pro 128Mb
2. Sapphire Radeon 9600 XT Atlantis 256Mb
IIRC, the "Atlantis" series of 9800 cards is 128 bit and not 256 bit, performance will not be equal to a real 9800 Pro.

It's out! Get it here:

Notes on Flickering Airfields
If you experience flickering airfields when viewed from high altitude, try the following to fix the issue.
Open the conf.ini file and add the two following lines into the OpenGL section there (or modify the existing ones):

PolygonOffsetUnits=-3.0
Changes and Additions
1. Tweaked damage modelling for Il-2, Ju-88 and B-17.
2. Tweaked flight model for the Spitfire Mk. IX.
3. Modified DGEN and NGEN.
4. AI will check for friendly fire more thoroughly.
5. Replaced Spitfire ASI with new ASI with new graduations.
6. Moved attachment points for FAB-250s on B-25s.
7. Made throttle lever of Me-163 move smoothly.
8. Added bomb load variants to Hurricane Mk. IIb.
Changes and Fixes
1. Reworked engine overheat for Spitfire Mk. IX.
2. Tuned the maximal RPM for Brewster Buffalo.

Flying and driving.
Like, no **** Dick Tracy!
The largest base of joystick users that came to mind was the insane folks over at the IL-2 forum on ubi. Nobody has anything good to say about Logitech joysticks over there. When I first got IL-2, I went against everything I read there and other places, and I bought a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. I now use a Saitek Cyborg Evo.
Go ahead and buy what you want. I really don't care what you buy. Just trying to help out and steer you clear of a frustrating, short life-span product. Do as you wish.

Caveat Emptor!!!
-
I've had my Logitech joysticks for years and have never had a problem, so that's on you.
I take that means you have not had a current Logitech stick then? Yours is several years old? Things change over the years. Do some research on the extreme 3d pro before you buy. Swing by the IL-2 forums at ubi.
Caveat Emptor.
-
Word of advice... If you buy the Logitech, buy the extended warranty BestBuy offers ($10). I will guarantee you will be returning the Logitech within 3 months. I had that same stick and it barely made 3 months. Took it back (BestBuy) and exchanged it for the Saitek Cyborg Evo. Too bad really, I liked the feel of the Logitech. But within hours I had adjusted to the feel of the Cyborg Evo.
I don't play that much to warrant wearing out a joystick that fast. I am not that rough with my hardware to warrant wearing one out that fast either.
If you read the IL-2 forums on ubi you'll see the same advice... AVOID LOGITECH JOYSTICKS LIKE THE PLAUGE!
-
Well then you have seen all the joysticks on the market then. The BEST is no longer made, the Microsoft series of force-feedback sticks. You can still find them on e-bay, if you want to pay a preimum price for one.
The Cougar HOTAS is total garbage!! If I pay the price they want for their system I should not have to "fix" it to make it work correctly or last. See this site, or google to find many others. http://cougar.frugalsworld.com/mods.php
Yes, the Saitek X-45 is a flight controller, but works for other things as well. Currently I use a Saitek Cyborg Evo and a Belkin Nostromo n52. This is my HOTAS system!

Most of the $200 cards you are seeing only have 128bit memory interfaces, as opposed to the 'real' 9800Pro's 256bit interface. They are crippled versions of the same card, with the same name. Sapphire and ATi have both been quietly releasing these variants, along with who knows who else.
I would expect that from Sapphire and other 3rd party companies. Not from ATI. All ATI 9800 Pro and 9800 XT cards are 256 bit memory interface.
-
flick main rig switch off then straight back on - power in the whole house is tripped AGAIN. Evidently, it wasn't the extension lead. It wasn't a fualt with the socket downstairs (when it was plugged in down there) or this socket right here because it's done it when plugged into the socket downstairs and this one upstairs.
Sounds like and overloaded circuit in your house is all. Not the monitor, not the PSU, just an overloaded circuit. The randomness could just be central air, fridge, or any number of home appliances on the same circuit.
-
ATI 9800 Pro or ATI 9800 XT. The 9800 Pro can be had for a little under $200 (US) and the XT is only slightly more (9800 Pro = 128 MB 9800 XT = 256 MB)
-
Use a volt meter. Or if the date and time are not correct, the battery has gone to a better resting place.
-
What is your computer? CPU? RAM? Post your dxdiag.
-
Its a refurbished Dell Dimension 4600
.....................
Cost $599
(not including Monitor, Interest 28% IIRC, S&H + S&H taxes (go figure) )
Huh?
28% interest?? So the cost is actually $766.72 ($167.72 in interest).Build your own. It's easy enough to do. And best of all, you get to make it the way you want it to be.

For those that dont know..its basically a keyboard replacement device.
I tend to look at it as a "keyboard augmentation device"

But yes, I love my n52. I have a profile for just about every program and game I use. Great for GR and IL-2.

Between the Radeon 9800 Pro/XT models and the GF FX 5900/5950 (both in regular and Ultra models), they score so close in benchmarks that the difference is hard to distinguish between the 2.
That is until the AA and AF are cranked up. Then the ATI cards show their true strength. 8 pixel pipeline vs. 4 pixel pipeline. (Sorry, it was just fun to say "pixel pipeline" twice)

-
Had an nvidia card (5200, bottom end card, but nice) worked great with GR and IL-2. But just got a ATI 9800 Pro, doubt that I'll be going back to nvidia anytime soon.

Buy the 9800 Pro card, the 5700 Ultra dosen't even come close.

If you search the IL-2 UBI forums, I think it was Extreme_One that did it. A RAF campaign and a USAAF campaign.
I know that files were at MudMovers when it was up. But as of now it is back on a temporary site here (all the files are not back online yet)

And this is by far the best mission generator out there:
Now updated to work with AEP!

DS22 getting a new video card?

Yes, post the entire dxdiag!
Also to find out what speed your memory is get this program:
http://www.lavalys.com/products/overview.php?pid=1〈=en
Run it and look under: Computer->Overclock and scroll down until you see "SPD memory modules". It will show just what the memory is in your computer.
Edit: If your board is a Asus P4T Intel 850 the memory is going to cost a bunch of money. That board uses RDRAM, which must be installed in pairs. Right now I see 256 MB RDRAM sticks going for $99 (US) each.
