  1. I have been trying to get Thumpers 762mm mod for a while now and I'll be damed if fileplanet/gamespy is completly useless. I've had an account there for years but every time I try to D/L this mod I get thrown to a screen talking about my account and stuff (I already have one and it always says I'm logged in) so when I try to go find the file.....all I get is empty pages and a whole lot of nada.

Anyone have a place to D/L this file without going thru the madness that is fileplanet?

  2. I've got a pic from the of American Rifleman (the NRA's mag) about the weapon systems carried by our troopers. Anyway in the pic, the Marine (the MARPAT cover gave him away) his M16A2 looks worn as hell and he has Duct tape on the bottom of his Mag.

I'll try to put it up once I get home.

  3. I had the same problem until I used the plug in off the Island Thunder cd. It's in a folder called "extras" I think....once in there you'll see the PS plug in folder. This cleared up this error for me and I'm running PS6.0

  4. In doing some research on the M4 and it's varients, I find that it is either single shot or 3 round burst. Why are all the M4's I find in mods single or full auto? Just curious is all.

  5. I also need some help/advice here on this topic. I have a M240G that is damn near a sniper light MG, not something I really want or need. I'm at work now so I dont have the .gun file in front of me. But taking some tuning proceedures from racing (1/8 scale on-road gas) I know that you have to start at one spot in the tune and get that stable then start adding other tweeks from different areas. IF we take that to the .gun file.....where would be the 1st place you all would start and then what would you tweek if you had a similar type of problem?

  6. Thanks for the replys.

I have/had DS and IT running also. Again I was just experimenting to see what happens and what is missing (sort of a trial and error reverse engineering thing). I read thru that IGOR for dummies thing again and re-read the ATR section. I also have BjB's ATR generator but after seeing it I'm not sure how to really use it. Also do you have to have different Hero and MP folders? This is the main problem I seem to be having is what to put either of those. Same with the kits. Why are there kit folders for Hero, MP and Rifleman, Demo, HV, Sniper. Some even add more folders in there. I makes it even harder to customize the kits for your flavors (which is really all I wanted to do) instead of 120 sniper kits etc. The SOF trial run was to see how the ATR's related to the kits. Maybe I am makign this too hard. I dont know.

As to the troopers with "Air" weapons. The trooper is skined and all there....he just has nothing in his hands, no white gun, no kit icon, nothing. I even droped into a game and had no reticle, no weapon etc...

This is what lead me to the ATR's......I guess I should ask what is the easiest way to take the Gun files and all the stuff linked to them, make new kits, all from the target mod and make them into a smaller less cumbersome mod of my own (giving the fullest credit to the original mod maker of course, dont want to seem like I am doing any thing original here.....just tweeking)

  7. Ok, so I bit the bullet and decided to do a mod (small weapons type) of an existing mod. I didnt like the kit combos and thought....hell how hard can this be..........2 weeks later here I am adrift in the Modding Sea :stupid:

Kit files I understand. Gun files I understand and can work with. Kit Icons...yep figured that out also (with help from 151 Lancer, an old teammate). The RSB image thing....got it with a lot of trial and error.

So here I am all happy with my new kit combos. I fire up GR...load my mod and....well there is my rifleman, in his BDU's and....wait....why is he playing an "Air" Rifle? Yep he is standing there with nothing but air in his hands. Damn. After talking to Lancer again he figured out my problem was the ATR files. I said huh? He told me how/why to fix the error but me being dense headed it promptly went in my ears, bounced around a little and fell into the black hole. OK, I went to look at any tutorials out there. Most are broken links or deal mainly with 3Dmax (which I really dont want to learn/buy. AutoCad, my RL job, is hard enough to keep up to date with. Also I dont have 3 large burning a hole in my checkbook for it).

I opened up some other mods I have D/L'd to see how they did things. This led to further confusion. Each modder does things different so a no0b such as me cant make heads or tails out of their file structure (maybe by design?).

So as an experiment I took Argyills SOF and droped it into the Navy SEALs mod to see what happens (yes I was using copies of each lest my experiment went horribliy wrong). Well, I see that the human models are there, and the BDU's are there and correct, but all the dudes have white heads and SOF's cool helmets are all white also. Oh and the Demo guy came in with no skin just the white model, looked like the Stay Puft guy that needs to loose some poundage. Which leads me to a question.....why do the demo and HW guys look like "Blimpy"? Pics I see from Iraq show SAW gunners in the same kits as the riflemen. I eman this is combat not EOD operations right?

OK, so in the end here is where I am lost. I dont understand the file tree for the atr chr and how they relate to the kit and gun files. Whats the Hero forlder for? Single player? (this game has a single player mode?) Why are there separate folders for riflemen and mp riflemen? Can someone, somewhere, lay out a atr file for idiots like me? Walk me thru all the parts and show me what connects to what?

    Thanks in advance..................

  8. ok for my second post I figure I may as well dive right in.........

I have been lurking in here and other GR forums for about a month or so. Just reading, getting informed, seeing whats out there. From here I have been led to several great mods and lots of other info and for that I am grateful. The time and effort put into all of the mods is stunning. But sometimes I feel the need to tweek something for my use/enjoyment/sanity and for those of the group I play with.

Here's the thing, I found 3 mods that I love but having to cull thru 129 kits is grinding. Also others (me for example) would rather have Gun A with Gun C instead of Gun E. So after reading a lot of posts and tutorials I decided to "Rekit" a mod I like and make a "Weapons Only" mod out of my favorite guns and kits from here and there. I have read several posts by others about models from this guy with textures from other guy and so on. Am I going to cause some "Mod Guru" to get bent because I wanted to customize his hard work and effort in order to make the game better for my experence and thst of the small gaming group I play with?

To be honest I cant model, I dont have the body for it.....er....I mean I can but only in Autocad but bearing plates and beam connections really dont come into play here. Do I need to ask peoples permission, let them know what I'm doing. I really dont want to get tagged as someone trying to pass off others hard work as my own. Hell it took me all week to figure out how all the parts of a .gun file went together. I guess I could just do it and go on but if I wanted to ask a question about something specific I dont want to get hammered for messing around in someone elses mod. This is not for the general public, just a few gaming buddies I play with.

    Just figured I'd ask.

::::::looks around:::::: "Now where did I put that flack jacket?"

  9. Not being really PC hardware savvy, one of my teammates had me bridge the 2 on board NIC's together on my Asus A7N8X Nivida 2 MB. He said it was to take up the slack if one got bogged down. I said...."Duh ok" and had him walk me thru it over the phone. Seems to work well except when my ISP decides to burp.

Wow, what a lame 1st post......I'll try harder next time
