GOOD NEWS!! My friend just got home and I was able to host a game. Looks like the port forwarding in the router's settings did the trick. Thanks for all the help.

WhiteKnight- Thanks for the help. I went to control panel > network connections and then right-clicked my LAN/High Speed Internet connection and went to properties. In the properties window, I clicked on the advanced tab and unchecked the box that says "Protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from the internet." Is that the built-in firewall you're talking about? Thanks again.

OK, I solved the username/password problem - I have a pop-up blocker so all I had to do was disable it. I'm waiting for my friend to get home so we can try it out so I'll post a message if everything works or not.

I did what Thunder Foot said to do but when I click "Apply" on the port forwarding screen, a window pops up asking for a username and password. I left the username blank and put "admin" for the password but it doesn't work. Are there different usernames and passwords I should be using?

Thanks for the help, but I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "forward the ports Ghost Recon uses for multi-player." I've already been to that IP website so I do have my unique IP address. I've been trying to host a game for me and a friend of mine in another state but when the game starts up it says my IP address is the one assigned to the ISP, so my friend never gets past the "connecting" window when he tries to join in. So I guess what I really need are some better instructions on EXACTLY what to do to host a game and have my friend join in (he also has a cable internet ISP). It seems

I've got a cable internet ISP (Time Warner Cable) and I'm using a Linksys wireless router and network card, although my computer is connected directly to the router instead of using the wireless connection. Is there ANY way that I can host games? I know about the 2 IP addresses issue and that Ghost Recon identifies the IP address of the ISP's router hub instead of identifying my computer's unique IP address, so I'm wondering if there's any way around this or if I'm screwed. Will the ISP hook me up with some kind of configuration that will work or is dealing with them a lost cause? Thanks f
