I have the same problem. I do have a tutorial for creating a road on top of some terrain but I didn't think it was the right way to go for this kind of project because your laying one textured object on top of another.. It basically uses the conform modifier and on a hilly terrain it's tough to get the road to conform to the land perfectly. I think it has to be built right into the land somehow. I can cut straight lines through polys but I couldn't figure out how to cut curved lines. That would've been perfect.

To make hills, I just click on my ground to select it. In that small window to the right where you see the modifiers listed, if your ground object is an editable mesh you'll see +editable mesh in the window. In the parameters rollout below that you'll see vertex, edge, poly. Selecting vertex allows you to select individual verts or groups of verts. Select a bunch of verts and pull them upwards to create mountains. There's also a thing near the top called softselection. Using that, when you select 1 vert, others will be selected along with it, depending on how close they are to the selec

Man! What a difference! from one lamer to another, nice work! The chopper looks great. Any other lamers out there wanna help w/ this mod ? We could use more maps.

yes! Definitely! A picture is worth 1000 words, not sure what rough drafts and sketches are worth but I'll try to find out.

I think you're off to good start. Mapping isn't easy, some folks try and just never seem to be able to get it. Is that you on the billboard? I thought the idea was a good one. Noone's done anything like this before. I think the map lends itself better to mp frag fests rather than scripted missions. For a just for fun map, it's good. There are some issues that need to be addressed for this map to be used w/ scripted missions. For example my team wouldn't follow me sometimes. I'm not sure what the problem was. Perhaps the map requires shermanlevelheights and transitions? So I would g

I received the new XYZ cd in the mail today. Letter To God is the name of the Cd. I just finished listening to it. Theres a lot of great songs on this cd.. I think it could be very big if it can just manage to get some air play. Terry's vocals are still as great as ever. I'm tellin ya, I like it so much, if I had the money, I'd get everyone here a copy.

thanks, that is very nearly the same system I plan on buying. regarding your 120 gb wd hd, is that by chance the WD 1200 JB model? It doesn't say on the website, just says 120GB WD Caviar SE ATA-100 8mb cache..

if so, what model and how has your experience been w/ it so far?

An old friend from yrs back ran off to California to become a rock star. I met Mark in '85 or '86. Taught me a cool lick on the guitar. Used to go watch him play clubs w/ a local band. The good 'ole days. Then an opening to hook up up w/ some guys from Europe. The next thing I know , there's Mark on MTV w/ his band XYZ. After 2 cd's the band broke up. Now they're back w/ a new guitar player and Mark's along as a guest. He wrote several songs for the new cd w/ the original lead singer Terry Ilous. The original drummer , Paul Monroe is w/ them also. The original Bass player, Pat Fontaine

I don't need a lot of space, 50mb would be more than enough.. I could probably get by with even half that much. The question is where should I turn? THe free sites don't allow files to be more than 1 mb usually and that's no good.. I might be uploading 10mb sized files. Mainly gr mod stuff. So who's a reliable host that won't hit me hard in the wallet? Anyone got any ideas ?

Just to give you a little perspective on map making, I'm working on a map right now for a mod called "Clear & Present Danger". I'm doing a jungle map w/ an airfield. This is my first attempt at doing a map. After getting 3dsm, I spent 6 months learning the basics. Then I started to mess around w/ making maps. I would just make a ground plane w/ some hills and stuff. Then last Jan I offered to help insaneflyingmonkey do this capd mod. 4 months later , I'm maybe about 1/2 way done with it. If this were my 2nd jungle map, then I'd be a lot closer to being done because I would already
