What jeep?
Shiver: What's with the sig?
??? What Sig?

I left modding gr.. not the gr sites themselves. I like to come by and see what's going and maybe tease you a bit. ~nudge~

ah.. thanks again ruin.

I'm sure I remember Chems telling me he found a way it to export it straight out of Halo.
Hope you got a good lawyer buddy for when the copyright police come knocking

rotf lmao!
if any investigators come a knockin, I'll be like, Huh? Chems??? who the heck is that? sorry, I don't know any Chems. <g>

Texturing a multi-sided object
1.) Convert object to editable mesh.
2.) Click the polygon button under the editable mesh modifier or click
the little "+" sign in front of the editable mesh modifier to expand
the choices for sub-objects and choose polygon.
You're now in the polygon sub-object mode.
3.) Click on the faces of your object to select them.
I usually have 3dsm set up so that the faces completely change to red
to show they're selected. If yours don't change to red and you would
like them to, hit F3.
One thing to point out about being in a sub-object mode is that when you select a sub-object sometimes another sub-object behind it will get selected as well. To avoid this, place a check in the box next to "ignore backfacing". Otherwise, when you select the front face of a cube,
the back face or some other face may be selected also without you knowing it. It's always a good idea to arc rotate around your object
to be sure what faces are selected before applying a texture.
4.) Apply your texture to the selected face(s).
5.) Apply a UVW Map.
You should now see your texture on the selected face(s).
Now you'll need to decide which UVW Mapping mode is best for your
situation. For one side of a cube, planar will do fine. For 2 or more sides
you may want to use box mode.
Also, don't be afraid to try the different radio buttons for X Y and Z.
This changes the axis along which your texture is applied.
If even more control is needed, apply an Unwrap modifier.
This allows you complete control over how the texture is applied.
Once applied, clik the edit button to see your object displayed as
lines and verts with the texture as the background. Then you move
parts of it around in order to try and get a more even look on your textured
faces. THis is very hard to learn. 3dsm 5 makes it much easier to learn
with the addition of some new modes that unfold your object for you in
varies ways. I'm still trying to get a handle on it.
I remember how it was when I was first trying to learn how to apply textures. Not the easiest thing to learn how to do.

tell ya what, If I didn't know better, I'd say you copied that jeep from halo

hope you got max back up and running. it can be a real pain.
-
that's the xyz transform gizmo that showed up. When you run your cursor
over any of the arrows they should change color which is a visual telling you that that axis is selected. U can then clik on the arrow to move the vertex along that axis.

thanks ruin

hmm..? I can't seem to find it.

Okay, now you all know that I am plagued with bouts of low IQ. So......could someone please tell me the connection between Christmas and leather?
good question.. can you get leather from reindeer ?
-
oh.. I see.. sorry it didn't work for you. I haven't heard of anyone else having trouble accessing it. Keep trying over at the platoon. Hate to see anyone miss out on seeing it..

I created a new thread about 12 hrs ago titled something about
a Super Horny Guy w/ a link to a Horny Guy Movie.
I don't see that thread around at all but I would think if it had
been removed or moved that I would have gotten some word
about it..
oh well.. it's still up at the Platoon and a lot of people loved it.
It's under chit chat if you want to see it.

So here's a question for you...i don't know if it's been asked before but, approximiately how many shots will it take to bring down a bug? I'd imagine that the humans in SST would be easily killed and the bugs much harder to kill.
Also, how do the bugs kill the humans? Are there animations of the bugs clawing, biting, stabbing, etc.?
Well, they run very fast and can take several shots while running at you and if you
don't drop them before they get to you, then they kill you by thrusting a razor sharp
leg through your torso, followed by picking you up, spinning your limp body around in the air
and throwing you down on pointy jagged rocks. Finally you lifeless character is dragged
back to the nest where thousands of hungry spider babies begin to feast on you.
They also like to get creative sometimes when killing you by using their spider web.
They launch out this stream of warm gue that spreads out all over you and just wraps
you up so that you can't run or fire at them...once that happens they
can just walk up and pierce you in the chest a few times with their legs.. and then
drag you back to the nest and you know the rest.
Now chems will prolly get mad at me for revealing this next secret but hey he'll just have
to come up with something more to please you guys.. right?
So, my tip is this, if your squad members ever leave your sight, never trust them again.
I've seen trusted squad members suddenly morph into spyders right before my eyes
and they were so close I had no chance at all of killing them. Some how the spyders
had killed them and taken control of their bodies without me knowing it.
You wanna see the shock on someones face when the guy that's covering your back suddenly
transforms into a giant man eating spider.. whoa!
Sorry.. I made it all up.. I was bored. <g>

yeah i keep coming in hoping to see someones completed it for me. But no luck. Shiver has actually fallen off the face of the earth. But it dont matter he sent me the map
But he was a good m8 while he was around. sorry chems....
it was about 3 weeks ago when I finally got to a point where
I could start to have some fun w/ this new pc.
I started trying new game demos and was spending a lot of time
learning how to burn cd's and dvd's. Then I became interested in
sharing movies w/ friends. I spent all last week trying different software...
trying to find what works best for converting those vob files to mpeg.
I'm pretty well set w/ it now. The past 2 days I've been working on a new website for myself. Come by and have a look. It's nothing too spectacular.. pretty basic actually,
but there's some pictures of me in there and a video of Steve Vai. He's
one of my favorite guitarists. The video is from a dvd I recently bought
called G3. It's a 47mb down load so you probably wouldn't be interested since you're on dial up. It's a work in progress. Some place to share files.
I'm sorry to tell you this but I've completely lost all interest in ghost recon and modding. I feel bad for not saying something to you sooner, I wanted to a couple weeks ago. I didn't wanna be like someone else I know that did that to me and I didn't hear from him again for like 6 months. I was just left hanging and when he came back I didn't want to know him. I hated him for what he did. I still don't talk to him.
At least I'm saying something now I guess. GR is getting too stale for me...
america's army is more fun imo and the game play is better, but I don't play
it that much. I don't play much games any more.
I don't think you can do any modding w/ that game.
Then there's Call of Duty. MAN! I played the demo's for that.. the graphics,
the characters, the special effects, all way too cool.
I doubt I'll buy it though. I don't like being forced down a path which is what that game does to you. In GR you can go any way you like. I like that better.
I'm sorry chems.. the new computer has opened up a whole new world to me that I couldn't experience w/ the old one. Sorry to let you down.
I didn't really even think you cared ..'till just now when I read your post from last week. At this point I doubt I'll return to modding for GR but if I ever decide to get back into it, you'll be the one I look for first.
Nice work on that Hummer you did.

ok since that ss i made it larger..now the thing is on the palm leaves only the top is visable like the normal is faceing up.Like that view you can see it fine but if you step underneath it you just see the trunk..anyway to fix it....
i still laugh everytime i see that ss
sounds like you forgot to check that little box in 3dsm to make the
texture 2 sided.

Have you seen Mike Schell's Map Making Tutorial?
I'm not sure where you can find the complete tut right now,
but, if you go here and scroll down to
sleeper's post, you'll see all the text from Mike Schell's tut.
It explains how to boolean out a doorway.
For most common rooms you want to use planes as your object.
Walls should be 20 cm thick minimum I believe.
Sometimes I would create my own surfaces by clicking create poly
and then clicking on each vert moving in a counter clockwise direction.
Then when you have your poly you just extrude it to the thickness
you need. This works great for irregular shaped surfaces.

i got it in map.... check it out....
WTG! Nice Job.

Yeah, v5 doesn't work in win98 at least not for me, although it says it can be run, but not all features.
actually I tested 3dsm5 on my new pc using win 98. I just wanted
to see how things would go installing it. Everything seemed ok but
I didn't do very much.
Now I have win XP and will be re-installing 3dsm 5 very soon.
I did have it all setup already but ran into some unexpected problems.
I found out that 3dsm5, and most likely some earlier versions as well,
don't work after you restore an image of a drive they were installed on.
Most likely it was designed that way. So in order to get it to work again,
you have to uninstall it completely and delete the c-dilla directory,
then re-install it. It's a bummer it's setup that way cause it means
not being able to have it included in an image file. Means if you need
to restore your drive, you'll have to re-install 3dsm and set it up all
over again. Pain in the butt.

v5.1 here, seems to work fine although I haven't really used it much.
I only installed and played around a little w/ it. Too busy at the moment
to do anything with it.

was doing some testing on my new pc this week.. and if all went well I was
planning to take the next step which would be installing GR and getting
3dsm and photoshop all set up.
Make a long story short, I rendered my pc inoperable. There's nothing scarier than not being able to boot your newly built computer. I had 3 different forms of backup which I found out were either no good or unavailable. And the thing that had me the most scared was that I couldn’t even boot off the win xp cd. I worked on it several hrs last night and managed to finally get the os installed again. I feel very lucky that I was able to get that far. It was one heck of a scary ride. I thought for sure I had killed my pc and that I might have to replace many of the parts before finding out the problem. I’ll be busy all weekend reinstalling software and re-tweaking this thing all over again.
I've had a great deal of trouble with this whole thing since I started back
in July. It definitely would've been a lot easier to just go out and buy
a Dell. I don't regret it though. I've learned a lot and feel more confident
working on pcs. There's still tons of stuff I don't know though. I just wanna
be able to feel I have full control over the pc.

Oh, so your gonna teach me how to be a bug killing manica? well Im already really skilled. Everytime I load up GR to test a new thing I go to my bug shooting range and kill about 20 bugs just to test, its getting harder now as there shooting back. As to the Missions, ppl should be able to make mission very easily cause Ive set up actors and everything with default kits set to the right ones so It will be just like doing the normal missions.
i just like to come here and look at your sig

they all sound great. do 3
j/k unless you want to.. but that lastone sounds really good. Having it stay at the base of the captors
and gaining points at a faster rate.

what do these guns shoot? never heard of airsoft before.
oh.. nevermind.. I just followed the link on Mcnamees sig.
I had a couple of bb guns when I was a kid.. they're a lot of fun..
and sometimes we'd shoot each other but not very often.
It stings a bit for a while. I mostly would shoot birds with it...
I wish I hadn't of done that now.. but at the time I was pretty young
and wanted to be a great hunter. I still feel bad about it. I always
try to help animals in trouble now. I'm trying to make up for past
mistakes.
btw, I hope you guys are wearing some eye protection.. even though
they'r plastic bb's, it could still do some damage if you got hit in the eye.
seems like paint ball would be more fun cause you get to make a big mark
on the other person.
