  1. Ah, so you patched it with that which not be spoken about?

You could have gone and bought it from Steam for a few bucks and it would be in your collection forever, even when you move house and lose the DVDs :o)

lol yes indeed. That of which is to not be spoken of, the patch, yes of course the "patch". :P Well.. i could have but ya know i have a hard time repurchasing a game i already own.

  2. Well never mind thanks to another topic on here that contained a link to H2G and a friend of mine linking me to site that contained a most helpful file to help me actually run the game. Due to what Microsoft has done in their either ignorance or lack of caring, limits us to find "practical" solutions that are w/in the guidelines, so to speak. Now i have a bought, full version of the game but sometimes an outside file is what is needed to get the job done i suppose. The best part is my cd's stay in the case i bought them in so long ago too. *wink wink nod nod say no more say no more*

I think it will prove to be a solution for many who enjoy, like myself, playing older games that the big ol a-holes at Microsoft have now prevented us from playing.

  3. Good evening everyone.

I come here today because i have been trying to troubleshoot GR Gold Edition for probably a total of 2 hours or more between last night and tonight. Ive done everything ive read about, from compatability mode and all its variations, to reinstalling, to adding and changing the options.xml file, to adjusting my desktop resolution to 640x480, to adjusting the resolution bit to 16 and i get nothing. I click on the GR icon to play the game and nothing happens at all. The closest i get to anything happening is in comp mode when i set it to start in 640x480 mode.. the screen will go black for a couple seconds and then back to desktop.

Im at a loss and about to uninstall it and place it back in the box of forgotten games to collect dust again but i thought i would check here first for any other suggestions on this topic of what could be done. Before i had Windows 7 i had Windows XP SP3 and had no issues running the game. This is going back a couple years at this point because ive since upgraded to "newer" but still older parts.

    I have AMD fx 6300 @ 4.1ghz   /   16gb RAM DDR3    /   MSI 760 gtx Twin Frozr   /   Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

I really enjoy this game and would love to see it working on this pc so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and ill be in touch.
