It's not that it's a bad idea. It is actually a good idea, but I doubt if many people would want to get involved in something that huge which, as Chems pointed out, probably wouldn't work that well anyway.

I've never tried to play a replay. I don't record them and I've never watched anyone else's. But I figured I might as well see why this one was posted, so I downloaded it and tried to play it. I crashed to the desktop. The log file said something about "could not find" and then the name of a mission file. I'm guessing I need whichever mission this was? And if so, where do I get it? I don't remember what the name was, but I didn't recognize it, so I know I don't have it.

Kind of. If you're shot in the arm, there is a lower probability that you will be killed. You're arm can't really "take more damage." Shoot one of your teammates in the arm. The first one won't kill him. The second shot probably will. You should probably mod the combat model file. Looks good, though!

Yes, I'm sure I'm not Australian! I think it's probably odd for any American to have heard of The Lighthorsemen. I think it's pretty understandable, not respecting the limeys (I have the limeys' gift for understatement ). Although there is one limey in that movie that deserves respect (but then I suppose there is an exception to every rule ), that's Richard Meinertzhagen, the intell officer. He's the one that goes "bird watching." I read a biography of him. Very interesting person.

To the best of my knowledge, those are the names of the first two map packs for SOAF. If there are other map packs that have the same name, you should say so now, a lot of people get pretty upset about this kind of thing. Use the search function. You're not the first person to ask this.
