  1. Ryan eh, havnt seen u in a while...  :shifty:
I was temporarily down to just 20 hours a month of internet access. That doesn't give you time to do much of anything if you go on nearly every day.

Now I have 3 free months of MSN. So I'll be here all the time again.

  2. Nice 'at...
    Thanks.

you Texans don't wear hats like that do ya?
    Those with taste do.

I thought you lone star gunslinging republicans wore 10 gallon hats??? ;)
Most do. And we're not supposed to talk about politics, but I'm not a Republican. I'm a Libertarian.

Looks pretty similar to my old Akubra hat, although mine is considderably more worn in after numerous fishingtrips back home.  ;)

    Akubra, Snowy River

The biggest difference I see is that your brim is wider.

it so cold my left nut fell out roll across the floor it work

    :(

Well, I guess that's why we have two of them.

    Nice hat ryan
    Thanks.

come to think of it, i dont own an Akubra  :o  But there is a slouch hat in the cadet armoury with my name on it.
Well then, you will own one someday. I read somewhere that Akubra is the manufacturer of them.

ryan, where did you find a 65 gallon hat mate
I had to special order it and wait 2 months while they killed enough rabbits to make that much felt.
  3. My hat came a few minutes ago! It's great!

I wasn't expecting it until sometime in July.

It didn't have the pinch in the front of the crown though. I had to add that myself. It says

    Fully lined and shaped
It is fully lined, but it wasn't fully shaped. <_<

For anyone who might have missed the old discussion of this (like Mike, were you here then? ): My hat.

  4. I just started D-Day by Stephen Ambrose. In the past two weeks I've read:

Fields of Fire by James Webb (fictional novel set in the Vietnam War)

The Longest Day by Cornelius Ryan (about D-Day)

The Zulu War by David Clammer (just what the title say)

Devil's Guard by George Robert Elford (about a battalion of German WW2 vets in the Foreign Legion serving in what was later to become Vietnam)

The Art of War by Sun Tzu

  5. God I hate summer in Texas!!!!!!! Nothing to look forward to but weeks of 100 degrees or more! That's 38 degrees Celcius.

    that cool in ozzzies

That's why I'm going in their winter. ;)

    kiwi start melt at 36degrees
I don't blame them. In summer I only go outside when I absolutely have to.

    I said cold for Zululand.
You're still a wimp. Talking about hot chocolate when it's 60 something.

Gets up to about +-34 C.
    Too hot.

We're in the Goldilocks zone usually....
Lucky ######. [They block out a word for illigitimate child now? :wall: ] Sounds like San Diego (where I was born, by the way): every once in a while hotter than hell, never too cold, usually really nice.
  6. I will just have to leave and go get some hot choclate because it's effing freezing and I can't press two keys at once 'coz my hands are numb....
    Cold for Zululand.

    about 15 degrees Celcius....

    YOU'RE A WIMP!

When it's 20 degrees Fahrenheit (that's -6 to you) then you can complain! That's what it is here in the 2 weeks of winter. (Otherwise when it's "winter," going by the calender not the weather, it's 70 degrees Fahrenheit or 21 degrees Celcius.)

What's the weather like in summer there? It's almost "cool" for summer right now in Texas. It's 90 (32 degrees Celcius).

God I hate summer in Texas!!!!!!! Nothing to look forward to but weeks of 100 degrees or more! That's 38 degrees Celcius.

  7. So how was the birthday mate?
Pretty much like any other day. Except for cake.

I spent most of the day reading Devil's Guard It's a very good book. It's about German World War 2 veterans in the French Foreign Legion serving in Indochina (later to become Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia). (My god the people writing reviews of it are dumb, there was only one Nazi in the book! <ahttp://www.ghostrecon.net/forums/uploads/emoticons/default_wall.gif' alt=':wall:'> ). It apparently has two sequels. Recall to Inferno and Devil's Guard III: Unconditional Warfare.

Get a hat that would fit?
No. Even though my hat is a birthday present, it won't get here until sometime in July.

    Its raining, boo.
It's rained for a week here.

Hope you had a good one.
Not a bad one. I don't have to pay for my hat and I got the third season of Coupling (a Limey comedy show) on DVD.
  8. Remember though, while the Japanese did occupy some islands in the Aleutians, Alaska was not a state at that time. Alaska did not become a state until 1958, it was a territory just like Guam is.
You're right that it wasn't a state, but we did own it. He thought that Guam was "the only U.S. soil to be occupied during WWII?" I was pointing out that it wasn't. That's all.
  9. Hmm, well being Chamoru and living on Guam (the only U.S. soil to be occupied during WWII? Heard that somewhere, though I'm not sure it's true)
Slightly off topic, but you heard wrong. There were a few islands in the Aleutians (in Alaska) that were taken by the Japanese.
  10. Just bought Starship Trooopers 2! Its awesome, different from the first, but still cool. You guys should check it out!!!
 It's the worlds worst remake of Alien.

The first movie was horrible, but it's a masterpiece worthy of every Oscar there is when compared to the sequel.
