  1. Here's what I came up with at NCIX.com... (I've never configured a PC with CDN prices, good lord!)

    CPU: A64 3000+ Venice

    Mobo: MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum

    RAM: OCZ Dual Channel PC3200 2-3-2-5 2x 512MB

    Video: Connect3d ATi X800XL

    HDD: Seagate Barracuda 200Gb SATA

Monitor: 19" Hyundai Imagequest L90D+ LCD

    Opticals: 16x8x16 DVD-RW and a DVD-ROM

Sound: Creative SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS

    Speakers: Klipsch ProMedia's 2.1

    PSU: SeaSonic S12 500W

    Case: Antec P180

    Total: $2,410.83

This will be a great gaming machine. Especially if you overclock that CPU to around 2.7ghz, which a lot of em can. I can personally vouch for the speakers and RAM, both top quality. All the other prodects have stellar reviews.

In the end, it's your money. Do your research then buy your pieces.

  2. I have a gig of RAM and BF2 runs fine. (Fine if you mean somewhat long load times, and about 45 seconds to quit the game and start using your PC for other needs.) I read on another forum of a guy playing with only 256MB of RAM.

If I were you, I'd go with the RAM, and start saving for PCI-Express.

  3. He also told me what I had suspected for a long time, that GR2 PC was canceled due to the limited PC market(and Ubi wanted to focus on GR3 for XBox360), even though GR2 PC itself had already been completed by Red Storm(am I at liberty to divulge this?

That hurt to read. Oh well, might of worked out for the better.

  4. Wow, hold up. You took your PC in with a 9800, and when you got it back you know have a 9700 Pro? Slightly illegal without your permission I would assume...

Maybe they have set the refresh rate too high for your monitor. Set it back to 60 and work your way up.

  5. negative.... most AMDs now and days will shutdown before their melting temp is met

Maybe...but I don't trust that info enough to not watch it myself, as AMD's have always run hot, and I personally know of two Durons that turned to slag in this way.

I'd like to hope it's true, since I have an AthlonXP 3000+, but I won't bet my mobo or CPU on the theory.

I know for a fact mine will. I had ASUS Probe set to shut down the comp once a temp of 60C was reached. When I installed one of the many heatsink/fan combos I've been through, I forgot to plug it into a power source.

And by the way, AMDs now run cooler than Intel... it's been proven many times.

  6. The content of the site has changed a lot recently. I remember when it was more focused on the ladies more than drunk guys jumping over bonfires.

  7. It's so fun when you join/lead a squad of five others on comms. Today alone me and five other guys were on Bravo, and for about three hours straight (however many matches it was) we won the best squad for USMC. And who said this game is just run and gun?

  8. You're system isn't all that bad, and in some areas better than mine, and I play BF2 at high settings. My suggestion is to get a gig of PC3200/DDR400 RAM, dual channel if your mobo supports it, then a nice 7200RPM SATA HDD. After that, start saving money for a total system over haul.
