These forums are a great resource if you are about to enter the serious side of Ghost Recon Coop gameplay.
You should really use it for what it's worth.
When it comes to using real combat tactics in this game I (amongst many others) have seen many attempts of doing that during these 18 months of playing Ghost Recon. We have learned that the most important thing to do is to find the balance between RW(realworld) methods and gameadapted methods. Where RW military/law enforcement experience might come in handy is in setting up comms, using the terminology, finding systems for saying things short/clear and understand what they mean. These methods comes in very handy when you enter a totally unknown mission; playing it for the very first time. IMHO a mission only offers you a real challenge the very first time you play it. From the second time, memorization comes in as a factor and gradually starts to spoil the fun (something you will NEVER see in a RW mission (Targets are at same locations, so are objectives etc..))
Also things like fire control, covering angles and syncronized movement are o'coz important aspects of good coop GR play. Not to mention the ability to adapt to a situation in a totally unknown mission.
In Alpha Squad we have several guys with realworld military/law enforcement experience, the very most famous one to be Iceman25. Even a man with his enormeous experience from RW operations as a squad leader in Vietnam and as a SWAT team commader in SWAT raids says it clear:
"We gotta find out what is useful in GR from RW methods. Then we scrap the rest."
I strongly suggest you join some of these special coop servers or tournaments with your team. And also, I cannot strongly enough encourage you to be a humble leader - getting the best out of every member in your team.
To quote Viggo Mortensen from GI Jane:
"Remember - there are no bad crews. Only bad leaders."
Also; the thumb rule that you never should forget: Have fun!

o yea i feel u there man. It is hard to make this like a real mission when u constantly have to repeat missions. But thats why ive been considering hiring a modder to make custom missions and maps to play on. that way we wouldnt have to play the same map more than once a month. maybe even ever.

Commanding isnt telling people what to do. Leadership is cultivating people to help them reach their potential. Once a person reaches their potential, you wont need to give "orders" It will become instinct.
That is a real leader

o yea no doubt man. Thats not to say i wont listen to what other people have to say. im always open to suggestions. someelses plan of attack may be better than. so of course i will listen to other peoples ideas. But the thing is im the type of person who likes things to be as much like a real life situation as possible. and in a real life mission there are ALWAYS leaders who give orders and make sure the plan is executed right. And thats what i am getting at with this man. Ur idea of leadership is right i dont disagree with u but there still has to be a person to make sure everyone is executed things properly and not going away from the mission. thats where i come in.

i want to thank all of you for the information. I will definately try some of those severs out and see what they are all about. But I still do want to start my own little group of people. i dont claim to be the first to ever have this idea. you might have misunderstood me. i know people have have been doing this long before me. The biggest thing here is that i like to be able to command my troops. I cant do that playing on other peoples servers. i have to start my own group. Dont get me wrong though i have no problem taking orders either it just make alot happier and makes me try alot harder when i know that the fate of the team rests on my orders. so like i said i still am going to pursue the idea of having my own team of people to play with but i still am gonna try out some of these servers so i can get a taste of what ghost recon is really supposed to be about.

Ok so what do u want me to do then? send everybody in the united states an email. the only way to get my information out is through message boards and guess what!!!!! Im gonna continue to put my email in so people can contact me regardless of what u say. Its not that damn hard to write an email. ill put little bits of information on here every now and then explaining what im trying to do but im not gonna write a big long message expaining every little detail about my plan. I have a pretyped email for that so i dont have to write a message in every forum ive posted in.
Okay Sorry, I apologise for my post, it was just me trying to be funny.

Ever been to the UBI forums?

yea why do u ask?

His intent was not to put you down as you say, it was to notify the people that come here that alot of us don't do the Rambo style of play.
If you want what you are talking about try Tactical Gamer they've been doing what you've described for quite some time and are well known in these parts.
Plus get rid of Roger Wilco it contains known spyware called Gator, check your PC, you're better off with TeamSpeak or Ventrilo.
thank u for being the first person not to act like jackass and thanks for the information but the reason im trying to start my own little team is so i can do things the way i want them done. im always open to suggestions from people who want to join but i still want to have control over what happens. thanks for the info anyway.

If your not going to check back here it wont help you - bad luck.
For those that care, what he wants is what you will usually find in coop games run by our regs, with their IP addresses posted in our Games Forum.
We take it slow, and try to get through with minimal fuss and casualties. If we run'n'gun it will be for a reason.
Many of the people who host and join these 'GR.NET' games have past or current military experience, and although it is tough to use full tactics in the simulated environment, we do not play 'quake style'.
We 'do things right', 'play as a team', and do not act like 'Rambo'.
Pity for this guy (above), he will never know. I dont know why you would ask a question when you can't wait around for an answer.
Anyhow, we hope to see the rest of you in our games sometime, come by for a few, and it doesnt matter if your n00b or 1337, you'll fit in (we don't talk like that either, for that matter).
Poor Arron will never know, oh well

I had a feeling some people would say some things like that so i decided to check back anyway. I guess some people dont understand what EMAIL me means. I ask people to email me so i can give them a more detailed description of what im talking about. I only say i wont look back at the post so people WILL email and not post. But i guess that idea didnt work. As for what u siad about the games that you play I dont doubt that at all. I play in games where we uses tactics too. But what im talking about here is about more than JUST tactics and strategy. Im talking about squad oriented strategy were there are platoon and squad leaders for each team, voice commanding through roger wilco, planned assualts, flanking manuevers, everything man. Basically just a more organized and planned out version of the games that you and some other people play. i hope now that maybe u understand what i mean a little better and maybe instead of putting me down for having a pretty good idea u can join the team or atleast encourage other COOP enthusiasts to join.

Rambo Rambo everywhere!!!! Thats all i ever see in these COOP games is people who cant be team players and accomplish the mission how it is supposed to be done. Because of this i have decided to start a little team for people who are interested in playing as a team and using real military strategy and tactics. If u wanna do things right and play as a team then email me for more information at arrontapp27@yahoo.com.

P.S. Dont post here asking for information. I will not be checking on this board. Email me.
